teblin Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 Get welsh in. i think we could do with a target man. It works at this level, we have proved it in the past with the likes of deane. Passing and fancy doesn't always help in this div. Look where it got forest
davieG Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 I just believe that the more we struggle the more he will put older heads in the team in the mistaken belief, in our case that they will get results. For me it's the older heads like Johnson, Low, that are not contributing enough.
teblin Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 Sorry i'm not saying welsh is a target man by ttw. We could do with a target man aswell.

Vestan Pance Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 Thats good news I think. Rated him when he was here last season. Was it just a coincidence that our form at the back end of last season was related to Welsh being in the team and giving us some decent balance and width in the team ? Personally id send Porter out on loan now, beef him up He only started in 2 of 8 victories under RK last season. Surprising.
The People's Hero Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 I remember him missing an open goal, that's about all. I'd suggest he'd fit in perfectly.
The People's Hero Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 You're starting to sound like BartonFox, TPH. Also the board are idiots! I'm my own man, my little sosban, my own man!
Tommeh Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 I'd certainly welcome Welsh back Apart from his open goal miss, he looked very good. And would certainly offer much more than Hughes, Tiatto, Low and Probably Porter out wide There certainly seems to be a split decision on him though
lookwhaticando Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 Get him in. Stick Porter in the middle with Wesolowski, Low on the right, Welsh on the Left and we've the makings of a decent attack-minded midfield.
Dr The Singh Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 If he comes to city, I will welcome him and support him, but let it be known, if he plays crap, he will feel the wrath of The Singh, on this forum!!!
FrankieWorthoYaggedMyWife Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 Also probably the smallest, most light weight midfield in the history of the game! Brilliant!!!!!!!
lookwhaticando Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 Also probably the smallest, most light weight midfield in the history of the game! Brilliant!!!!!!! As long as it creates more chances than the amazingly stale Hughes/Johnson shower in the middle, who gives a f/ck how lightweight it is?
shen Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 I'd only have him if it means Porter will play in the middle as there's no point in bringing in another player that doesn't improve the current squad.

It does seem a bit odd - Porter's done well on the left, it's not like he needs to go out on loan to prove himself first or anything... so either the management doesn't think he's up to much, or they think they could use both effectively. I notice, though, that our left wing is now covered but there's not much in the way of choice on the right - well, nobody already in the first team anyhow...
SystonFox Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 i didnt mind Welsh although his miss against Hull in the 95th minute was highly comical and im positive he tried to miss that sitter vs Palace. dont want him outing Porter though and i dont want John (no goals) Stead
Thracian Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 Welsh is not in the same class as Porter, not by a distance, so the only way that makes sense is if Porter's being earmarked for Hughes' role, or possibly a role on the right.

Low, Sylla and Maybury for the right spot. Stearman, Hughes and Hammond have all played there too. That's not saying much though!
breadandcheese Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 He reminds me of Guppy, so I like him. Won't rush head first into a tackle but will put a decent ball in. Play Porter on the right, Guppy No.2 on the left. Never thought I'd hear the day I say this, but think that we should have made a move for Delap.
lookwhaticando Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 Low, Sylla and Maybury for the right spot. Stearman, Hughes and Hammond have all played there too. That's not saying much though! Precisely my point. How many of those can you claim to be proper options for right wing? Low and Sylla. Sylla's no use to us. Low is the only real option for a right winger. Hughes is not much kop, Maybury's too defensive. Stearman's a defender too and Hammond could be used, but he probably wouldn't be able to put in many balls properly.
