luffbra Posted 4 January 2007 Posted 4 January 2007 I've been thinking about this some more... One that really made me sad (and nearly cry), was the Villa winner this season - it was a real sucker punch, and I was devastated ... I know it didn't mean anything (as we wouldn't have won the cup), but my friends and I had spent the previous few minutes who was going to take penalties, and it completely took the wind out of my sails!
Geo V Posted 4 January 2007 Posted 4 January 2007 I know we are talking of goals that really hurt but I must sling in a goal that made me cry almost with pride from I think 1997/98. At home to Arsenal when Bergkamp was awesome putting them 3-2 up before Stevie Walsh equalised to grab a 3-3 draw. It wasnt just the goal, more the reaction from Walsh when Ian Wright went off on one. Ian Wright is the type of prat who knows he cant get beat up on a footy pitch so gives it large with everyone, including some big buggers like Schmeichel. But Walshy made me so proud to be a City fan when he went Radio rentals on Wright who was trying to "attack him". The look on Stevie Walsh`s face will stay with me forever! Get him in charge at City I say!!

Have to say, I was completely the opposite. It hurt seeing it go in and it hurt watching the Villa fans celebrating but I was so proud of the effort the younger players especially put in that I really didn't mind we lost that much. It was a pleasure just to be among that, standing at the back of the Kop, singing all game and watching a Leicester City team with passion, pride and commitment, if only just for one evening. Singing all game and raising the roof when Kisnorbo's goal went in and Henderson saved Barry's second penalty. Best game I've been to at the Walkers.

I just wanted us to win so badly, and I felt we deserved it. I did love it when Henderson saved the penalty though - the noise was immense - I was hugging people I didn't even know!!!

The Villa goal defintley, Like you I was also hugging people I didn't know and going balistic. I found it hilarious when there were people leaving when the peno was awarded for villa and then quicly coming back! The best match at the walkers by a far.
Asha Posted 6 January 2007 Author Posted 6 January 2007 Tim flowers was top class i dont wish to critisice him in any way.
Asha Posted 6 January 2007 Author Posted 6 January 2007 What's that supposed to mean? Flowers was quality for us, probably the best keeper we've had in the last 10 years. Sorry to be nob, but no way were them goals scored in the last 10 minutes. Sorry i meant leicester not flowers
stripeyfox Posted 16 January 2007 Posted 16 January 2007 Without a shadow of a doubt, the most painful goal conceeded in my memory was Frank "Letterboxhead" Lebeouf's penalty in the last minute of extra time at Stamford Bridge in the FA Cup. The lads defended so well that night - they really didn't deserve it. But in a way I took comfort knowing that nothing would ever hurt as badly as that again!
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 16 January 2007 Posted 16 January 2007 The Chelsea cup game, when Mike ****ing Reid gave that bast*rd penalty after Franck Leboeuf dived. That hurt even though i was young. Think it was Erland Johnsen
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 16 January 2007 Posted 16 January 2007 Mike Newell '92 play-off at Wembley Roy Essandoh Wycome '01 at Filbo - my city car shirt in the backwindscreen fell off that day and I said "Is that the downfall of City to the missus" - it has been downhill ever since !! Ade Akinbiyi 05 v Burnley at Walkers There are so many !!
The People's Hero Posted 16 January 2007 Posted 16 January 2007 Many many many. One that sticks in the mind from a game which wasn't awfully important in terms of cup/promotion etc... was away at Forest in our promotion year. 2-0 up not long to go. 2-2 after loads of time added on. Gutted.
Durnerz Posted 16 January 2007 Posted 16 January 2007 Like many, the Forest game was one of the worst and hard to take, seeing as most of my mates at the time were from the Red side of the East Midlands. 97th minute as well, the worst thing was, you could see it coming. The one that really got me though was Hasselbainks goal to give Chelsea a 3-2 win against us in 01/02, the moment you knew we were going down. We'd been superb all day long, Chelsea were utter wank until Jacob Laursen came on and spoilt it all, combine that with a genius like Zola coming on late to curl in an expert free kick and one of the best games at 2-1 up suddenly became one of the worst.
Webbo Posted 16 January 2007 Posted 16 January 2007 one that comes to mind is when we played Brum in the premier league. they scored from a corner put in by savage, after which he went up to the brum fans kissing the badge. sickening.
lookwhaticando Posted 17 January 2007 Posted 17 January 2007 The one tonight where our defence supposedly played statues when they saw the lino's flag. Killer.
JoeyB Posted 17 January 2007 Posted 17 January 2007 The one tonight where our defence supposedly played statues when they saw the lino's flag. Killer. agreeded about in tears
Cobbo Posted 17 January 2007 Posted 17 January 2007 The one tonight where our defence supposedly played statues when they saw the lino's flag. Killer. Yes. It hurt my settee, anyway. And the chair I'm sitting on. And the bathroom wall. And my fist.
lookwhaticando Posted 17 January 2007 Posted 17 January 2007 Yes. It hurt my settee, anyway. And the chair I'm sitting on. And the bathroom wall. And my fist. That's a mistake that's going to haunt you for a while. How can you read on the crapper with no privacy?!
Cobbo Posted 17 January 2007 Posted 17 January 2007 That's a mistake that's going to haunt you for a while. How can you read on the crapper with no privacy?! Believe me, no one will want to be in the hous while I'm having one. Problem solved and now I have open plan. Woo.
Foxy1984 Posted 17 January 2007 Posted 17 January 2007 I've just got back from the game.. and yes they did appear to freeze as the lino waved his flag. I'll admit i was watching the lino too... then glanced at play and saw the ball go in. Bitter

SystonFox Posted 18 January 2007 Posted 18 January 2007 the 4th goal hurt tonight. i could see it coming a mile off. wouldnt of been so bad had it been in ET or even lost on pens. but 3-1 up and lose 4-3. typical leicester.
RowlattsFox Posted 18 January 2007 Posted 18 January 2007 last night beats all previous competition. t'was heartbreaking
Leicfox Posted 18 January 2007 Posted 18 January 2007 Did the Lino flag for a foul on Routledge or for when Routledge was pulling Maybury's shorts? The foul on Routledge, so the ref was perfectly right to wave play on.
Wils Posted 18 January 2007 Posted 18 January 2007 That goal really hurt last night... To be fair he looked a threat all night.
