Leicester Capture Spurs Winger

Leicester City have added their second signing of the day following the capture of winger Mark Yeates from Tottenham Hotspur on loan until the end of the season, subject to FL paperword approval.

The 22-year-old Irishman follows Geoff Horsfield through the doors of the Walkers Stadium, and will be available for Saturday's Championship clash against Luton Town.

Yeates has come up through the ranks at White Hart Lane, and has so far made a total of four appearances for the North London club.

He did, however, get some much needed league experience under his belt during a one-year loan spell at Colchester last season - playing 44 games during their promotion campaign.

City boss Rob Kelly said: "Mark is a talented young player. We've had him watched on a number of occasions.

"He can play on either side and gives us something different to what we have already got.

"Mark comes to us with a good pedigree. He did well at Colchester during their promotion season, but he now needs to challenge himself at this level."

Yeates joined Hull City on loan at the start of the 2006-07 campaign, but injury cut short his stay at the KC Stadium.

The winger has also enjoyed previous loan spells with Swindon and Brighton.

Mark Yeates (born January 11, 1985) is an Irish footballer who plays for Tottenham Hotspur. He can operate either as a striker or a winger.

His late father Stephen played for Shelbourne, Shamrock Rovers (2 goals in 11 appearances in 1989/90), Athlone Town and Kilkenny City [1]

During the recent 2005-06 season he played on long term loan at Colchester United scoring 5 league goals for them. Has also played on loan for Brighton and Swindon before joining Colchester in August 2005. The loan to Swindon was part of an agreement between Tottenham and Swindon over the transfer to Spurs of Leigh Mills, but Yeates only played 4 games before being returned to Spurs after a disagreement with then manager Andy King.

He has made three first team appearances for Tottenham, making his debut against Wolves on the final day of the 2003-04 season in the Premier League setting up a goal for Robbie Keane, and has three Under-21 caps for the Republic of Ireland.

Yeates recently signed a two-year contract extension with Spurs, following strong transfer speculation linking him with a permanent move to Hull, who he instead joined on a season-long loan on 9th August 2006.
