Police take the chance to be thugs

Are you a complete **** or just a twat?

Both crowd troubles happen in ALL SEATER STADIUMS and the countries that have hooligan problems are, again all seater stadium venues. This week has proven the fickle theory that terraces = trouble. What stopped trouble in England was increase and 'improved' security as well as thousands of cameras etc etc.

How you can say that the Man U fans thought they were being clever is beyond me because, although what they did was wrong and lead to the violence, the Roma fans did it as well - So what you are saying is completly incorrect!

Just a note on the Spurs Incident - I think that had a bit more of a hooligan element to it as you could see them all in the lower tier before it kicked off looking rather dodgey and the Sevilla fans weren't involved.

You do yourself no favours by throwing insults about in such a manor, if you want to make a differnce do it by making reasoned debate not throwing childish insults about.

The stadium in question has seats but is governed by differnt H&S rules. Fans are allowed to stand for as long as they want.

Having said that I don't think the standing/sitting debate has much to do with this. It's more to do with the forgien attitude towards us brits and our all day drinking habbits and our singing being mis understood, as well as ignorance of mediteranian (SP) culture. Ignorance on both halfs if you will.

That, my dear favourite sandwich, is EXACTLY what it is.

Your cultural perspective is that you have a set of expectations for the treatment of supporters and the behaviour of police based on your experience of going to matches here.

Their Chief of Police has declared their actions to be in line with their policing policy and that they did a good job. That's his cultural perspective.

Just because you don't like it doesn't make it wrong.

That would have more weighting were it not for the fact that our laws are governed by the European Union, with the very purpose of harmonising common laws around the entirety of the member states.

Cultures are one thing, laws another. Some of the police action was wrong. The fact that some people got so badly beaten to the point of losing consciouness was assault. No Italian policeman can reasonably argue that a person posed a legitimate threat as he lay there bleeding from the head unable to move. Nor can the lady who complained of getting hit because she had a camera be classed as a reasonable threat.

I'd like to you to watch the video and show me one person he was beaten on the floor and was bleeding, if you look the people being targeted on the floor were being clubbed for show, they were being hit in fleshby parts of the body. People who got twated in the head were being aggressive.

Besides it was only one or two people who were hit while on the floor. The way people go on about it you'd think it was the entire police force at it.

It's simpler than some of you are making out.

These people shouldn't have been so close to the fence. It was a rule, the police warned people and those looking for trouble were being hit.

Is it not a bit obvious that you should not break the rules and approach the fencing when people in the area were being hit?

People who are so stupid as to deliberately ignore of flout rules which are there for their own protection really don't deserve so much protection.

Shame they didn't bring the Italian police over to sort the scum out. Both sides should be thrown out of the competition because if this continues there will be copycat violence everywhere. Bloody vermin hooligans.

It just said it was Man U fans that initally charged the police on the BBC about 5 minutes ago, and I quote "Not Italians"

"The situation involved several dozen mainly Roma fans" on BBC website

Yes, and where does it say they charged the police, which is the point I'm making.

EDIT: And the ****ing BBC should be more consistent with it's reporting as well.

Sooowwwwyyyy! :o

No word of a lie, the BBC just reported that it was a bunch of men who were "Not Italians"that charged the police and went for the Roma fans. And now they've just reported something completley diffient on their website, idoits.

The visiting fans will be in the second tier of the East Stand, meaning they will be sat at the same end of the ground as United fans.

Err isn't that kind of inevitable wherever they f**king sit?

It was all kicked off by the Ities throwing a stick and a bottle.

Have you become the Queen?

Refers to dialogue between Manwell and myself - don't bother looking it up - but we seems the only word in the circumstances.

Hmm, again they've made themselves look like prats during this.

They reported one thing on the TV and another thing on their webstie, ridiculous.

Anyway now the dust has settled it seems 21 arrests were made, 14 of which were Man u Fans, Seven of which were Italians ( and two of them were for nicking off the club shop lol) so make of that what you will.

Incident was well handled overall I'd say.

Not bad for a under funded police force that never seem to do their jobs properly as so many people like to point out whenever they do something slightly controversial.
