I don't understand why we have so many injuries, compared to other teams. Is it a conditioning issue? If we have to field a similar team to this in the T20, we can kiss our chances in that goodbye. Would be such a shame if the season was derailed by injuries.

Hard to be too critical given how dominant they've been, been having watched some of the highlights/little bit live, the majority of the dismissals have been absolutely pathetic. Handscomb's in particular was shocking when you see the balls that proceeded it and the fact he has taken the most ridiculous guard I've even seen.

I could understand one poor innings but two is beginning to concern me

you can’t just turn form on and off.

Agree. Fully expected we would dig in 2nd time around, especially as we batted so long this morning for the loss of only 1 tailender. It's like the batsmen don't have the fight when there is no chance of winning.

On a day perfect for an ice cream, Yorkshire 2nd XI appropriately bundled out for 99 (Headley 5-28, Hull 2-28)

Dean's lad. We'll have a great bowling line-up in a few years if these kids keep improving.

What sort of bowler is he and how old is he? Those figures in a second XI game can’t be sniffed at.

If none fit you wonder whether they pull in an on loan bowler.

Holland will be back from America. Ahmed just needed a rest I think as he has a side injury but will be fine. Hull is playing for the seconds today unless it’s his brother(?), Scriven seems to struggle to stay fit. We should be fine. We could really do with an extra batter finding form, it’s really been Ahmed who has been scoring heavily recently

Right arm over, seamer. Similar to his dad. I think he is 17, maybe 18 now or soon.

Nearly all over now. At this point they will probably have figured that they will benefit more from a day off tomorrow, as otherwise they would have had only one day off between this four day game and the Blast game starting on Friday. The schedule is ridiculous.

I guess we take advantage of the unexpected extra days rest ( I swear it looked like they were batting for this at various points).  I didn't see enough of the match to see whether we were truly awful or whether to give them credit, Middlesex played well, but that looked a tired performance lacking focus and concentration, apart from our tail that did its best to wag. But it's the first time I've been disappointed all season, so no point in stewing over it - better to acknowledge it was a stinker and get heads straight for Derbyshire!

We have to acknowledge that in what has been an amazing season so far, this has been a truly hideous 3 days. Being bowled out twice in only 120 overs on a dead pitch with a pudding of a ball is the sort of thing we thought we'd put behind us. With the weather forecast tomorrow, had we batted with some resolve after lunch, we could have easily nicked a draw, despite being outplayed, but the team was so weakened by absences and mental fatigue we just collapsed again.

Anyway, we need to keep things in perspective and regroup now. We bounced back from a similarly horrific defeat against Yorks in the T20 and let's hope we can do the same this time. The worrying thing is that we are running out of players; and I think this match has shown that our back up players are nowhere near the quality of our first XI players. We need Ahmed, Holland, Scriven, Mike and Hull back as soon as possible, or things could be derailed quickly.

Up until this game everything has largely gone right for us, over the last few days everything has gone wrong.

Hopefully a bit of a reminder to the boys that this isn't done and dusted and we need to pick ourselves up, refocus and go again.

So far from this game I'll give Walker pass marks and make allowances for Wood as he's young and batted well. Green also bowled well. Everyone else should be disappointed as they are capable of much better.

Patel looks a shadow of his best this season - I really expected him to go very big. I feel likes he's a key man and Taylor needs to work on getting him ticking again as a return to form would really drive us forward over the run in. Budinger looks tailor made for England - fast scoring and utterly unable to adjust to the situation. I do like it,  take it most days over a plodder but it can be frustrating!

Crazy how I just want the t20 gone, players back from injury and get back on the horse against Derbyshire asap!

When the fvck is the last time that happened in our season where I’m literally counting the days until we are 4 daying again lol

Really poor today but Middlesex deserve some credit too. Their four seamers were well set up for the Kookaburra and bowled the right lines and lengths, the odd exaggerated bumper aside.

Just don't see how we take advantage in the next two rounds, especially without home advantage.

Well we will have our best bowler back for one. One of the issues of the last two games has been not having Holland to tie down an end. Hopefully more of the bowlers will be back fit too.

Cant be to down in the mouth i guess, although I cant help worrying, just built in I guess!

I mean Trevaskis at 3 was pretty mind boggling, he has no pedigree at 3 and looked at best like a night watchman .

Budinger having a great season but can't bat time and the skipper making Chanderpaul look orthodox with that guard.

Weird selections, even weirder decision to bowl first in the heat. Hope its blip but wow it was a strange few days.

Gloucester 3 down now, still 40 odd behind

Good end to this game. 96 ahead, 7 down with 16 overs remaining (minus 2 for innings change). Think Glos need to hang around for another 7/8 overs to cling on. Glamorgan could probably chase 12-15rpo if needed so would want 8 overs chasing I think.

I think two wins from the last five will pretty much guarantee promotion, especially if we avoid defeat v Derbyshire. I can’t see any more than one other team, probably Glamorgan, getting over 200 points. We’re still in a great position folks.

Yep, after a total horror show, results were great in the other games.

2 wins is basically a slam dunk for promotion. I'd imagine even 1 win and a draw with an ok smattering of bonus points would do the job. Even 3/4 draws with strong bonus points (and assuming some of the draws are because of bad weather and therefore effect everybody), and they're basically there. Hopefully a bit of a reset after this match.
