I keep worrying that Cox is going to leave. Would be a real shame, if so. He's been great for us.

You can't think that given all the wicket keepers we're linked with.

The Hundred has been a damp squib of one sided rubbish so far.

It's an awful format in general. People might mock somenody claiming an extra 3.2 overs a side can make a difference, but Peter Trego was right when he said it. That extra time gives a side the chance to recover an innings and be respectable or competitive.

Scored a 100-ball tournament earlier this year and there wasn't a single close game. It's just dull.

Not sure where he'd be going unless he is retiring. He will be 34 at the start of the next season

But I will say again how many close games did you get in the blast?.We played 14 matches and from memory Notts away obvs close and Durham needed 13 off the last over but only managed about 5 other then that don't recall any close games

But by close I mean it was obvious by the time a quarter of the game was done who would win. Even the results of crap T20s aren't set in stone that early.

My biggest argument is why didn't the ECB put as much money, effort and marketing into advertising and promoting T20? Then we wouldn't need the shite!

My understanding is that it was because they wanted a shorter tournament - thus only 8 teams. I quite like the Hundred. After all, it’s just another form of cricket. Some games will be close, others won’t. But it is instantly forgettable!

You could also argue there is now more cricket in August, as you have the Hundred games and the one day cup.

And the finance County will receive from the proceeds of the franchise sale are pretty extraordinary. £28 million I think.

Another two non events tonight. One over less than two thirds of the way into the innings.

It's dreadful

Maybe I'm a bit naive and maybe things will change but I saw Josh Hull put down a simple catch for the Welsh team and, it just didn't seem right, him playing there. I doubt the players give a shit. It's for them just  a big money exhibition match. LIke soccer aid or  a pre season friendly in Singapore.

None of then will care in the slightest. How could you care about a team made up with the sole aim of pleasing rich investors, rather than representing areas and people?

Cynically for me they wanted a format that if it really caught on, they could sell across the world and start doing things like the Caribbean 100

Absolutely.  They fvcked up hugely not trademarking T20 and the Hundred is a rather lame attempt to shut the stable door after the horse has bolted.

Yep. Especially daft as it’s heavily rumoured that all the IPL sides that have bought into The Hundred now want to turn it into a T20 league.

I'm in the mood, for MASOOOOOOOOOD

Originally I was quite enthusiastic about Masood, but he's been a massive disappointment. He's an excellent batsman, but he just fails to deliver as you'd expect from your overseas player.

I think they really wanted a tournament to kick off franchise cricket and the existing tv deal with Sky for the Blast meant it couldn't be another T20 comp. I will be very surprised if they aren't binning the hundred ball format (though keeping the name for now) and adopting the T20 format from next year. Was always the plan after 5 years I reckon and what the recent investors will be expecting.

Agree. But I still can't ever see Notts fans preferring Trent Rockets T20 over Notts T20 - overseas stars or not.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, the unintended consequence of franchise cricket in England could well be a more vibrant county cricket subculture, a bit like Somerset have created at Taunton
