Good weather for Kibworth on Wednesday.

For me, kibworth (or any rural out ground) in the summer sun, one day match,  is English cricket perfection.

Surely it'll be a sell out.

Pity Oakham school isn't still used. Another great day out.

Oakham was used a couple of years ago. Dreadful facilities and really poor pitch. Not surprised they haven’t gone back.

Agree the pitch was poor but not sure about having dreadful facilities  in what way is it inferior  to Kibworth?

I see the T20 schedule is being shortened into 3 groups next year! All to suit that franchise shite no doubt!

By the sounds of it, I think pretty much everyone, including Leics, were for it. It’s on the provisio the games are more spread out and on days that bring in the best crowds. Will also have the quarters and finals day done before The Hundred rather than wait six weeks after the main tournament finishes.

From what’s been reported, looks like there’s too much disagreement on the way forward for the championship so likely there won’t be much change.

It was decent at Kibworth last season. Decent facilities, co-op just down the road so you don’t have to pay extortionate food prices. If you want a good spot on the boundary, get there early. Oh and if you want to sit down, bring your own chair.

Looking forward to it.

I don't really take too much issue with that. The current T20 blast is split into two blocks - the quarter-finals are played until September and the finals day in mid-september. The sight shorter group format should give a bit more tension and competitiveness. Shorter block of playing hopefully transfers to better overseas players.

On the one hand you say decent facilities then you say you have to bring your own chair

Totally agree. The current Blast format is too long and there are too many meaningless fixtures.

It may only be one fixture but it's one less game of ticket money for the club, plus what people spend on beer, food etc.

The only real downside.

The pitch is quite enough on it’s own to justify the statement, it is a pretty crucial element to the game. The fact is that the School simply doesn’t have equivalent equipment or staff for preparation, protection etc when compared with a first class club ground. Even the practice facilities were poor. However I thought the food and drink facilities were absymal and the toilets were just disgusting. I’m happy to bring my own chair and food if I have to but a decent loo is essential in this day and age. There are many providers of really good ones around. No excuse.

I’ve not been to Kibworth for a first eleven game so can’t comment.

12 games is a fair compromise, they could have easily followed the success of the Big Bash League following their reduction from 14 games per team (exc. x4 KOs) to 10 in 2023/4. Average crowds, which had fallen to 16,720 per game, have since bounced back to their highest in several years at 22,825 (+35.5%).

10 games would have made way more sense. The 12-game thing is a mess.

If they were desperate to mix it up and be non-regional then why not have a system where you have six "groups" of three so everyone keeps their local rivals for gate money purposes (I.e. us, Notts and Derbyshire always go in the same group) that band with another different group of three each year to form the group of six.

Surprised by some of your comments considering Oakham is one of the top public schools in England .Not sure the likes of Stuart Broad would agree that the facilities are poor
