You can never go back mate. We have to create the memories like that for the future; so that in 2035 someone can suggest we go back to 2022.

Anymore Q&A's lined up... next one can be Jarvis, Nixon and Claude so we can hear the lot deflect any kind of criticism. Should also keep hammering home what an absolutely dog**** decision it was not to re-sign Harris (or someone of a similar level)

They shifted many for the India game?

Doubt it the crowds for the India 4 day match in 2014 was around 1K per day imagine it will be similar this time .Shame we don't play them in a T20 instead that would be a sell Out

Really thought we couldn't find any more ways to loose in more embarrassing fashion and bingo!.

If Nico is on the chopping block, who comes in? Gary Kirsten, Mike Hesson, Peter Moores, Trevor Bayliss or Mark Alleyne?

Derbyshire have shown if you can land a big fish coach and then it can open up other doors regarding recruitment, player performance and reputation.

You've listed someone who only just missed out on the England job and two former England coaches. How on earth are you suggesting we get any of them?

Derbyshire did it because they've at least shown some talent in all formats, including getting to a T20 finals day...

We would have made finals day in 2020 but for unbelievable misfields from Lilley and Klein an out of work coach not going to turn down a 100k a year coaching job imo

Derbyshire were woeful last season but got Arthur to buy into a project. And were probably lucky with timing in terms of Arthur wanting to be more settled and not in an international job.

The reality is though that whether we get in a big name or someone we've never heard of the key is finding the right man and increasingly it looks like that certainly isn't Nixon.

"If my grandmother had wheels she would be a bike".....

Just not sure many top coaches are truly 'out of work' these days. They can get a couple of months gig with a franchise that pays the same. Even at a 'specialist coach' level they can probably get 50k for a few months.

Perhaps it was the suggestion of Moores that threw me, he literally couldn't be more comfortable at Notts lol unless they sack him i've no idea why he'd be on someones list.

Down the road Northants have just announced that David Willey is moving back to them on a 4 year deal. He's still only 32, so this seems like a super signing for them. Northants and Derby feel like they've moved ahead of us over the last two years while we've frittered away money on underwhelming signings and a director of cricket who does not seem like he is directing much cricket, frankly.

What really struck me in that Q&A was how much Nixon made us sound like a part time outfit.

Well we got an ex player (and sex offender) to come back and give a talk to the players. What more do you want...

Might apply for a laugh - is that the best platform for that role? Surely that’s done behind the scenes and with agents?

Nixon's public utterances are becoming increasingly tedious. He basically throws the players (who he's recruited and coached after all) under the bus for every defeat, whilst saying how much everyone in the dressing room is hurting and working very hard.

It's clear the players need a new voice in the dressing room but we might need to limp through this season before Nixon goes. We then need to get as big a name coach as we can to try to increase our attractiveness to potential recruits like Derbyshire have, whilst cutting the squad down to a sensible size to free up funds for the acquisition of competent overseas players and some experienced County pros. Interesting news re the Director of Cricket. Does that mean Uncle Claude is being shown the door or falling on his sword already?

I had a look at the job description on the website, provide a covering letter and salary expectations. Might apply and just put half of whatever Claude is on.

Basically moaned he was doing too much which is why we hadn't kicked on previously, now he has support and we've gone backwards.

It says on the person spec: 'ideally living in in Leicestershire'. That rules me out as well :D
