Ultra Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 The Bistrot on Millstone Lane is worth checking out. They do a decent range of wines as well.

act smiley Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 The thing that scares me most about those places is they're chains - how low must hygiene standards be if they've got that many places that aren't shut down?!
Smudge Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 The Tiffin, corner of DeMontfort St and London Rd, I usually go there when I come to Leicester. The food is always very fresh and well prepared. Make sure you book a table.
Smudge Posted 23 May 2007 Posted 23 May 2007 Red Veil, is a superb restaurant, my bro in law personally knows the chef, who incidently is the owner!!http://www.redveil.co.uk/ Wow, the food looks fabulous, I shall definitely go when I am over there in July
city1993 Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 The Manor in Great Glen is worth a look, but be careful, there aint much to choose from, only downfall !!
cisono Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 The Manor in Great Glen is worth a look, but be careful, there aint much to choose from, only downfall !! Is that the place offering set meals that are very good value for money? (lunchtime only perhaps)
Dr The Singh Posted 30 May 2007 Posted 30 May 2007 I can tell you a horrid restaurant I went to the other day.......... It was The Haveli (Indian Restaurant) on belgrave gate!! The food was worse then supermarket curries etc and pricy aswell!! How dare they rip off a restuarant chain in punjab with such dire taste and ambience!!!

I saw a bad review of the Haveli in the Metro the other week. Sounds like definitely one to avoid!
Mickey O'Neil Posted 2 June 2007 Posted 2 June 2007 Not in town..but I love Punjab Palace, Sakonis & Friends. Top nosh.
Webbo Posted 2 June 2007 Posted 2 June 2007 I don't know if it counts as a restaurant, more of a themed pub really, but 'La Tasca' in Granby Street always seems to have a good atmosphere when i go in there. The food's not bad and quite reasonable.
Mort Posted 2 June 2007 Posted 2 June 2007 A year or two ago the Opera House down next to the Cathedral was lush, pricey but very very nice (best steak i've ever had!)... sadly a few decent restaurants have closed down in the city over the last year or two... if you want really nice grubb Watsons is a good shout, if your after a "themed" restaurant take your pick Shimla Pinks, Red Veil, San Carlos etc... are all pretty decent, although Watsons is probably the last "flashy" restaurant left in the city centre since the Opera House closed.
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 2 June 2007 Author Posted 2 June 2007 I actually went to La Tasca in the end...quite nice!
