Craig Posted 24 May 2007 Posted 24 May 2007 Maybe not to your taste but christ its nowhere near very very poor. Ok, maybe an overreaction, but it's certainly nowhere near album of the year.
Leicfox Posted 24 May 2007 Author Posted 24 May 2007 Ok, maybe an overreaction, but it's certainly nowhere near album of the year. Granted and i probably wouldn't put it in my album of the year list come the end of December, but as it stands atm so far it's personally one of my favs, along with the others ive listed.
mancunianfox Posted 24 May 2007 Posted 24 May 2007 I can't say I've heard many records I have liked so far this year. Have been dissapointed more often than not, particularly by Neon Bible which I was really looking forward too. Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - Baby 81 Wilco - Sky Blue Sky The Horrors - Strange House Dinosaur Jr - Beyond
Finnegan Posted 24 May 2007 Posted 24 May 2007 I'm pretty impressed with Baby 81. It's not as good as the first two, IMO, but Weapon of Choice and Berlin are great tunes. There's nothing of 'Rise or Fall' quality on there though, I reckon.
Leicfox Posted 24 May 2007 Author Posted 24 May 2007 What do we make of the Decemberists? I've only heard their last album i think its called The Crane Wife or summut like that, but thought it was decent. My kind of music
Jay Posted 24 May 2007 Posted 24 May 2007 What do we make of the Decemberists? Picareqsque is a quality album in particular Military Wives which is a top quality tune
the_don Posted 27 May 2007 Posted 27 May 2007 I'd like to add Lovedrug - "Everything Starts Where it Ends" - http://www.myspace.com/lovedrug and Carina Round "Slow Motion Addict" into the mix - http://www.myspace.com/carinaround I think....Both amazing albums in my opinion And Mutemath - Mutemath, but I'm not sure if that counts as 2007....That's one flippin great album

Daggers Posted 28 May 2007 Posted 28 May 2007 Maximo Park - A Certain Trigger I only started listening to this last week - it's a grower
Jay Posted 28 May 2007 Posted 28 May 2007 yourcodenameis:milo - They came from the sun forgot about this one until I read it in another thread an excellent mix between new british music and a sort of old school DC Hardcore style very powerful and well worth a listen!!
Fez of Mahrez Posted 28 May 2007 Posted 28 May 2007 I only started listening to this last week - it's a grower Ha. ACT was 2005. I think he meant Our Earthly Pleasures, which I assume you did too.
Melton Fox Posted 28 May 2007 Posted 28 May 2007 Manic Street Preachers - Send Away The Tigers. Light years above anything else and their best album since TIMT, TMY Autumnsong = Brilliant song, fast becoming one of my fave Manic's tracks Arcade Fire - Neon Bible is certainly up there, but not quite in the same league
Ultra Posted 28 May 2007 Posted 28 May 2007 Kaisers - YTAM. May also check out Modest Mouse and the Manics though..
City Fan Posted 28 May 2007 Posted 28 May 2007 Kaiser Chiefs - Yours Truly Angry Mob Fall Out Boy - Infinity on High Klaxons - Myths of Near Future Maximo Park - Our Eartly Pleasures
Daggers Posted 28 May 2007 Posted 28 May 2007 Ha. ACT was 2005. I think he meant Our Earthly Pleasures, which I assume you did too. I'm so hip with it

THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 31 May 2007 Posted 31 May 2007 Evidence (from Dilated Peoples) - Weatherman LP Nicely produced hip hop album me thinks
James. Posted 31 May 2007 Posted 31 May 2007 Evidence (from Dilated Peoples) - Weatherman LPNicely produced hip hop album me thinks I'll have to check that out. Dilated Peoples are a great hip hop act - in a similar(ish) mould to Jurassic 5. The Platform is a quality album.

J5s latest album was shocking though. 20:20 by Dilated wasn't the best but I loved Platform, Expansion team and Neighborhood Watch. If you want a sneak preview of Evidence solo go on youtube and check out his video for 'Mr Slow Flow', class, he has a myspace page on with 4 or 5 of the songs off the album although my favorite 2 are not on there 'Chase the Clouds Away' and 'Line of Scrimmage'. Alot of the sogns are produced by Alchemist so some good beats

You probably already know them but another hip hop act that again are similar(ish) to these two are Blackalicious (Blazing Arrow probably their best album). Seen these (as well as J5) live and they were absolutely quality. Gift of the Gab is a f**king legend.
