Manwell Pablo Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 For the last time...League Two! ...yes he scored goals in League One, but he hasn't scored 20 goals a season for three seasons, simply because he's scored 54 goals in his three years with MkDons, a decent tally? Yes, absolutely... but these are goals in League One and Two, does that disqualify him as a potential transfer target? No, he'd be a decent acquisition for a reasonable fee... but a fee in excess of £1mil for a League Two striker is simply not a "reasonable" fee! John Stead
RedOnRed Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 People keep on saying a reasonable fee for McLeod, but what is a reasonable fee? Just because you have a fairly tight budget doesn't make the asking price unreasonable - it just makes it unreasonable within the constraints of your budget, which if that is the case it is a separate issue all together.

Your having a laugh if you think McLeod is worth 2million, when Sharp is going for just over 2million, Eastwood is likely to go for 2million.
RedOnRed Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 Alright, alright, what if we throw in a free set of car mats and and a tank fuel as well then? And we're shooting ourselves in the foot with that offer. Take it or leave it that's our final offer?
Gené and Tonic Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 I'd leave it. 1 mil max, could strech to 1.3 mil if we were really desperate.
Mort Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 I'd leave it.1 mil max, could strech to 1.3 mil if we were really desperate. Which we're really not... at least when it comes to McLeod.
Gené and Tonic Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 You also have to remember Leroy Lita went for 1mil and look at where he is now. 2 mil is an unreasonable sum of money in any situation for McLeod
RedOnRed Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 Blimey, you lot drive a hard bargain. Alright, i'll throw in my missus as well. Don't be put off with her looking like a cross between Norah Batty's and Bella Emberg's mutant love child...she's got a heart of gold.
Gené and Tonic Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 Ok If he were French, would the price be lower?
RedOnRed Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 OkIf he were French, would the price be lower? Sorry, if who was French? Martin Allen, Paul Ince, Pete Winkelman, Izale McLeod?
Gené and Tonic Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 McLeod. Just saying, the price is probably higher because he's English
Don't call me Mad Dog Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 Having watched Izale for 3 seasons I'd value him at £5000 a goal last season. Cheap really ? If he'd scored all the goals he should have had, £2m would be fair, and he would be in the Premiership already. I'd genuinely like to see how he gets on at a higher level, but he needs a sports psychologist working with him.

Don't you think £120,000 might be selling him a bit short? He got one more goal then Rooney got last season in the Premiership and that was despite being suspended and injured quite a bit he still managed to be the highest scorer in the league. How many more goals do you think he should've got in order meet your £2 million? I would agree with the sports psychologist bit though. He does have a temperament problem.
Father Ted Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 We can't get him when theres saganowski and many others. Even Sheringham would be a better bet

Mort Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 We won't be getting saganowski because he VERY CLOSE to signing for Southampton it said on the BBC website Nope... Burley said he hoped to complete the signing of Saganowski, while MM has hinted that we're offering to better any offer from the Saints who are very low on cash (all the more so with the Microsoft bloke dismissing any interest in staging a take over) with which to finance any deal for Saga at the moment, though they still have "first refusal" and so can drag out negotiations. But Saga or no Saga, we've still go no interest in paying an inflated fee for McLeod.

RedOnRed Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 I have to say that i've seen McLeod score quite a few remarkable goals that would be unsaveable in any division and they've come completely out of nothing and won us games that we had no right to win. At one point someone even described him as the Thierry Henry of the divison, l ol. TBH he's a long way off Henry but was by far the most dangerous forward in the league and did emulate Henry to a certain degree with the type of goals i've just mentioned Unless your privvy to all that you can't really make a fair assessment. Martin Allen witnessed it first hand and is willing to pay decent money for him. If you have any faith in your new manager and coaching team you should give them the benefit of the doubt on it and maybe with a bit of extra polishing at a higher level you could end up with a priceless diamond.

But the point still remains- why spend 2m on mcleod when we can spend 2m on sharp or eastwood? ( possibly less) and they have played more recently at a higher level whilst being roughly the same age as mcleod...

This guy must be his agent or the chairman of "Wimbledon now in milton keynes" trying to up his value/opinion amongst the leciester faithfull
He's not bald Posted 26 June 2007 Posted 26 June 2007 This guy must be his agent or the chairman of "Wimbledon now in milton keynes" trying to up his value/opinion amongst the leciester faithfull I think it's probable that McLeod will be a City player by August 11 but we won't pay over the odds for him because MM won't deal..simple as!..I think what might happen is a few insurances on both sides in the form of clauses for extra payments and even a possible player exchange deal.
RedOnRed Posted 27 June 2007 Posted 27 June 2007 This guy must be his agent or the chairman of "Wimbledon now in milton keynes" trying to up his value/opinion amongst the leciester faithfull Now there's an idea. I wonder if there's a bung in it for me? We could do with you in Scotland Yard.
