Mort Posted 11 July 2007 Posted 11 July 2007 If he does stay, and sorts out his temperament a bit, no doubt we'll probably get 30 something goals out of him next season, while you lot will be left wondering what you could have had after you chose to play safe with some forward that's been round the block a bit and is more interested in accruing signing on fees and getting a few goals here and there. Again mate.... League Two!!! ...socring 25-30 goals in League two isnt at all bad, but it doesn’t justify a fee in excess of £2mil!! Its a piss-poor league, full (for the most part) of piss-poor players, a half way average championship player would rip it apart, and they wouldn’t be worth the kind of money that your after for McLeod. Good luck with him but the club don’t want to sell him or they'd have slapped a reasonable price on him and MA doesn’t look like he rates him or we'd have made a firm offer... as it is we’ve invested in plenty of young players this summer (Stappelton, Kaebi, Hayes etc…) so its not as though your golden boys being overlooked because of his age, he’s just not done anything to suggest he’d justify the barmy asking price. That said he'll be good for you next season and with any luck you'll get promoted this time around... no idea how Ince will pan out for you, but best of luck.
breadandcheese Posted 11 July 2007 Posted 11 July 2007 I can't imagine him begging as well and he won't be going for £800,000 either. If he does stay, and sorts out his temperament a bit, no doubt we'll probably get 30 something goals out of him next season, while you lot will be left wondering what you could have had after you chose to play safe with some forward that's been round the block a bit and is more interested in accruing signing on fees and getting a few goals here and there. Fact is, if he does that, his asking price won't increase, so we might as well give him another year to see how he develops. If anything, he'll be a year nearer to the end of his contract.

No doubt - probably! Well done - idiot!

I still find it quite odd that you as a "Dons Fan" is trying to sell this player to us. Normally you would be doing the opposite as you rate them so highly you wouln't want to lose them. It would be like me going to say "Brums" fans forum and talking up "our best player" (I actually cannot think of many players from last season who I would cry if they left). Izale - have you found out how to use the internet?

If he stays or goes it will be good for us. If you buy him it will be for good money for us and if he stays he'll get us loads of goals just as he has done each season that he's been with us. The bottom line is HE wants to go and if we can get a good price i'll wish him all the best and will be very curious to see how he does in a higher division.
STUHILL Posted 11 July 2007 Posted 11 July 2007 2 Million is silly money and It's not fair to a player who has done well for you but now wants to move on and your club is pricing him out of a 'dream' move to a better and bigger club. It's fair enough your club wants the best deal for themselves but even you must think 2million is a ridiculous asking price for a league 2 striker. I feel sorry for the guy and probably a high chance of him protesting at some point if you don't adopt a more realistic price.
Daggers Posted 11 July 2007 Posted 11 July 2007 Of all the threads I haven't read over the last week, I missed this one the most.

What's silly money to you isn't necessarily so to a club that has more money. I'm not saying he'll end up in the Premiership but some Premier clubs light their cigars with more then £2 million. He wants to move on and we'll let him at the right price. Until then we don't need to sell him financially and he only renewed his contract last year. I suspect a bit of brinkmanship is going on and he'll probably end up being an 11th hour transfer just prior to the deadline.

Given those two, Mcleod is worth absolute maximum 1 million. I wouldnt pay any more than 800k for him. Hes unproven and has done it at a much lower level.

It`ll be another deal that surprises me if it happened.

LCFCIMPS Posted 11 July 2007 Posted 11 July 2007 Good Goalscorer, well too good for league two but time will tell if he's good enough for championship. I don't think he's worth 1.5million tho.
Geo V Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 MK Dons chairman seems like over-hyping his lad with all this Premiership interest. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...don/6897257.stm "I get called every day from somebody - including numerous Premier League clubs - asking what is happening with Izale." If he was that good MA would have signed him by now.

Nick Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 Theyre perhaps just being nosey. They clearly arent putting bids in or he would be splashing that all over the press too. And they seem to be taking action that would suggest that they may be short a striker or two at some point: MK Dons have taken Newport striker Matt Prosser, 20 and Eastwood Town's Lindon Meike, 19, on trial. (Daily Star) (from bbc sport) Methinks MM won't pay any more than a milion and I would imagine that the last 20% of that would depend on promotion.

Geo V Posted 13 July 2007 Posted 13 July 2007 Lets not forget that Derby are entitled to part of any fee as they have a sell-on clause which all points towards MK Dons hyping up the price to get a decent amount back.

He's like that "nice to have" and "impulse buy" at the end of a ball aching monthly shop!...you get to the tills..really happy that you have what you need from the list you made then just as you are about to check out!..wham bam...there's a bargain sitting on the shelf that you just didn't realise you wanted....the clincher is the price...cheap enough and it gets onto the conveyor belt...silly price and you ignore it and start dreaming about which "frozen pizza" your goining to have for tea and how satisfied you'll be with it!

LCFCIMPS Posted 14 July 2007 Posted 14 July 2007 If DJ Campbell signs then i don't think you need Mcleod. Don't get me wrong he's too good for league one n two but don't think he's good enough for championship.
RedOnRed Posted 16 July 2007 Posted 16 July 2007 The Times have the following transfer listed as a "Dead Cert".... "Charlton Athletic are keen to buy Izale McLeod and have offered Milton Keynes Dons £1.5 million."
