Babylon Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 Yes, the Preimiership has changed dramatically since you were last up and obviously even more so then when you were up with O'Neil.Yes, some teams have gone up and stayed up for a prolonged period, but then most that have gone up have tended to go straight back down. That is unless they've spent loads or had a genius manager. Charlton - had a genius manager but he's now gone and they're now back down Bolton - good manager and spent a lot Fulham - spent a lot initiially but are now on a downward spiral Wigan - did spend a lot West Ham - have spent a lot Sunderland - haven't normally spent a lot and have gone straight back down. On this occasion they have a good manager who is now spending a lot. Before you start rolling your eyes and telling me i'm talking out of my arse again actually point out a team that has stayed up for more then two seasons without either spending a lot or hasn't had a bloody good manager, because so far you haven't done that. Wigan didn't spend a lot end of story. I'm sorry but your argument is quite frankly ridiculous... if a team has stayed up you just claim they have a genius manager. Which then leaves us with an unanswerable question of naming a team that doesn't have a genius manager and has stayed up. Cuckoo Cuckoo. Either way how do you know Allen won't prove to be a genius or we wouldn't spend £10m+ when we went up??? It's an unanswerable question... you seem to like them.
RedOnRed Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 Also depends on how you define a "genius manager".You quote Curbs in your genius list but he was there for 15 years and never won the premiership. He did a lot for Charlton but IMO he's not really a genius. And let's face one fact - MA is untried at this level. Who's to say he's NOT a genius??? Surely Curbs could be described as being a genious for keeping Charlton in the top flight for so many years and as soon as he's gone they're down. Wigan didn't spend a lot end of story. Yes they did. How else do you think that they managed to get in the Premiership and stay up for a couple of seasons. Their chairman happens to own JJB Sports and as forked out loads on the club. Surely it depends on what you classify as alot? I dont recall any of those teams spending stupid amounts of money apart from Fulham. West Ham have only done it in the last 6months With the exception of Charlton they've all splashed loads of cash, which is why Curbs did such a good job. Fulham and Wigan are starting to spend a lot less and sell top players rather then buy them and it's starting to show with their results.
Master Fox Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 Milton Keynes is shit. I would like to second that statement
Daggers Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 I would like to second that statement I'm going to push the boat out and third it.

So what if he owns JJB? My god man you are on a different planet. How did Reading stay up? They didn't spend much... suppose they have a genius manager though hey.
RedOnRed Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 Milton Keynes is shit. Not exactly eloquently put, but who can disagree? Mind you, I travel to loads of places in my work and although Milton Keynes is no Paris or Venice it's a damn sight better place to be then most of the towns or citys around in the UK.
RedOnRed Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 So what if he owns JJB? My god man you are on a different planet. How did Reading stay up? They didn't spend much... suppose they have a genius manager though hey. I'd say that both Coppell and Allardyce are decent managers. Take them out of the equation and you've probably got another Charlton. I still say you either need an amazing manager or loads of cash and one way or another that seems to be the case.
Master Fox Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 I'm going to push the boat out and third it. I'm there right now, and it's really ****ing shit.
RedOnRed Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 I'm there right now, and it's really ****ing shit. If it's any consolation i'm on the outskirts of Oxford and it's also shit. The first person that proves me wrong can have a ticket for the next Dons reserve game....
Master Fox Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 Oh, anyone know what the Chav/Scum/Gypo capital of the world is???? Milton Keynes ....
RedOnRed Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 Oh, anyone know what the Chav/Scum/Gypo capital of the world is????Milton Keynes .... I see subtlety isn't your middle name then.

Take them out of the equation and you've probably got another Charlton.I still say you either need an amazing manager or loads of cash and one way or another that seems to be the case. Nah I reckon you can get promoted to one of the leading professional sport leagues in the world and stay there for more than one season with a shit manager and no money.
Master Fox Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 I see subtlety isn't your middle name then. Even the so called ‘nice places’ are ****ing shit
RedOnRed Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 Even the so called ‘nice places’ are ****ing shit Where are you from then? Presumably some where like Florence or Rome? Nah I reckon you can get promoted to one of the leading professional sport leagues in the world and stay there for more than one season with a shit manager and no money. Yeah, strange argument to have isn't it?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 Personally I think Milton Keynes is nicer than Leicester.
potter3 Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 Where are you from then? Presumably some where like Florence or Rome? I thought he said earlier he's from Milton Keynes
The People's Hero Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 Where are you from then? Presumably some where like Florence or Rome? That has zero relevance. If that were true, the only people who'd be allowed to discuss football would be professional footballers etc etc.
RedOnRed Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 I thought he said earlier he's from Milton Keynes No he didn't. He said that he was in Milton Keynes.

Isn't that rather stating the obvious, every club that has maintained their position in the Premier can be classed as either having a decent manager or loads of money or both WTF else is there. You're just saying black is black now prove me wrong! (Cue Daggers or some other Genius/Rich poster to prove black isn't black. )
