One thing if he came through at Ajax he will have very good technique

Darkzzz_ Posted 16 June 2007 Posted 16 June 2007 According to our official site, sergio hellings has almost signed for us, but he is pictured with the shirt..... he is a good player, all round action man..... very positive signing, i work with a dutch guy who supports ajax and he says he was a very good player for them when he had the chance but was then sold because of the lack of first team opportunities. It looks like a good deal for us, and there are rumours we could be signing another 5-6 players, very exciting times. Check the OS out...... Hope this is the sign of things to come.... moving forward together..... come on leicester!!!!!!!!!!

The player flew in to the East Midlands on Friday for talks with the Foxes, and it is hoped that the deal will be completed on Monday, subject to medical. Signed by Belgium side Anderlecht for 2 million EURO from Ajax in October 2002, Hellings is an all-round midfielder who has previously attracted the attentions of Middlesbrough and was subject to a substantial offer from Leeds United two seasons ago. Born in Amsterdam, Hellings was snapped up by Ajax at an early age and was nurtured through the Dutch side's world famous youth system. He has represented his country at all youth levels up to under 20. The 22-year-old's arrival will mark City boss Martin Allen's fifth signing of the summer - with Carl Cort, Bruno N'Gotty, Jimmy Nielsen and Ricky Sappleton already on board ahead of the 2007-08 campaign. He came through the Ajax youth system, he's represented his country, he was worth over a million and then...*puff* he is shipped out on loan to a minor crap team. Anyone else thinking there is a story attached to this little lad? I have a huge amount of respect for the Youth system at Ajax...so, fingers crossed he'll be good for us. Wouldn't it be nice if he could really turn a ball in midfield, wouldn't it be lovely!

I know nothing about him but i get a slight feeling he could be our holding midfielder, like a makelele/mikel role?

Seems like for whatever reason he lost his way and dropped down the football pecking order like many another footballer who start promising. It also says in the article that he's on a free transfer.

Sounds like something certainly went wrong the lad. Maybe he could be mates with Casion Jimmy, they can talk about there past problems. Another free transfer aswell, can't imagine that his wages would be extorionate either.
