chili_con_carne Posted 17 July 2007 Posted 17 July 2007 Hume Fryatt Cort De Vries * Hammond * Sappleton * Not exactly going to scare the sh*t out of the other teams is it? The *'s probably won't feature, leaving us with Hume, Fryatt and Cort. Cort will be injured all season. Hume and Fryatt have had their chances and I don't think either one of them is good enough. So yeah, still need a LOT of work up-front. 6 strikers, but 2 are transfer listed and one is 17. Not looking good And also Fryatt is on his way out to either Preston or Wolves. So that leaves us with Hume and Cort. We need to sign McLeod and DJ and then possibly another
Thracian Posted 17 July 2007 Posted 17 July 2007 Fryatt's on his way then, he'll end up banging the goals in for Preston now No inside knowledge but you wouldn't have to be a freelance journalist to guess that's the way it's shaping up. And all his fans on here might be right that Fryatt might well shine somewhere else. But Martin Allen has to look at the situation here and, more important, the type of player he wants. I think it is becoming increasing clear what he likes. He's not against skilled football or people with a trick or two. But he wants people who will die for the cause. He also seems to notice when people are effective or not - that is who scores and makes the goals, who makes things happen. His remark about Hammond in training seemed important. And at Quorn on Saturday, Hammond got himself hurt putting his leg in to win a ball that might well have created a goal for Cort. MA probably noticed that and certainly that DeVries won the header to win Hammond his goal. Humey's scored in a friendly and in training, Cort hit a post and went close with two other shots, Odhiambo scored, Ashley Chambers was a contant threat and Billy McKay looked tip top and was so unlucky not to lash in a volley. But Fryatt hasn't scored many goals these last 12 months and, almost as importantly, he's not assisted with many either. Can MA afford to risk a repeat this season? I may be wrong but I can't see it.
sdb Posted 17 July 2007 Posted 17 July 2007 not disagreeing with what Tharican says but if Allen considers taking Hammond and/or DeVries off the transfer list and instead selling Fryatt after a friendly then he really is mad. Fryatt's young, proved he can cut it at this level and considerably better striker than the other 2 mentioned. he was crap last year, but he was injured. he may well turn out useless here but that's not for certain yet. it is with DV and Hammond

Bojimha Posted 17 July 2007 Posted 17 July 2007 Is it a bit sad to go to a match all by yourself?? That is the dilema i am currently facing!! None of my mates support city, those that might have come to watch are either working or on holiday, none of my family particularly like footie!! no idea wtf to do! i am in the same position. I live in Longford, Coventry (unfortunately) which is only about a 20 minute drive away and I really fancy seeing some of the players on show tonight....if only i had a foxes talk t-shirt people would recognise me and welcome into there group with open arms.

Ric Flair Posted 17 July 2007 Posted 17 July 2007 don't agree with that statement either. last season he scored about 4 goals all season. hardly proven himself at this level. However the season before he averaged a goal every 3 games and was heavily responsible for keeping us up when we looked dead and buried.

Bojimha Posted 17 July 2007 Posted 17 July 2007 Ahhh i really can't decide to go and risk it standing there like a loner! But I want to go! If I do and someone off here recognises me then feel free to say hello. I think whoever goes is very likely to get soaked in the rain, but it should be decent team put out tonight.

Lichfieldfox. Posted 17 July 2007 Posted 17 July 2007 I'm going with 2 of my kids even though I know no-one off here. Should be a good event.

If he doesn't move, doubtless Fryatt will get more opportunities before the season starts, but the only currency he can use to make his case right now is goals. MA well know we need lots of em this season.
