BigGibbo Posted 15 August 2007 Posted 15 August 2007 Not even on the bench for Celtic tonight. nice one has anybody spotted him in the midlands
The Reverend Posted 15 August 2007 Posted 15 August 2007 No chance. He's good, but he isn't that good. If Shaun Maloney couldn't cut it, you can't see Derek Riordan ripping up the Prem. Fair enough then iv never really seen him play tbh, but if he does come, well lets hope he's decent but i dunno. Probably end up goin Wolves or somewhere like that.

MBK Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 The 2005 Scottish Young Player of the Year was brought to Celtic last summer and scored some vital goals in the last campaign. Comfortable anywhere in attack, Riordan was a prolific scorer with Hibernian prior to joining the Hoops. Naturally two-footed, the 24-year-old is classed as one of the best finishers at the club. Mmm... Yum yummy
STUHILL Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 Thing that interests me with this guy, is his ability to play on the left! I think he could play a similar role to Mcshefrey at Brum! He definately has the quality, plus would even take him as a striker! I am suprised people are happy with our current strike options, sure we have a lot of them BUT I only rate Hume, DJ and possibly Fryatt. DeVries and Hammond are no better, plus Cort will probably keep picking up injuries! We need one more quality striker in, and if he can play left midfield then even better!
Lets Be having You Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_2671169,00.html Just sky or what you lot think, would be great matty, off for £1.5 mill, this lad in his place oh yes please martin

SS are much more acurate than the tabloids and I hope that he does come along and does have the ability to play from wide left.
Mort Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 I am suprised people are happy with our current strike options, sure we have a lot of them BUT I only rate Hume, DJ and possibly Fryatt. DeVries and Hammond are no better, plus Cort will probably keep picking up injuries! We need one more quality striker in, and if he can play left midfield then even better! My attitude is that Hume and Campbell are hands down are top two strikers, from there you have Cort who is a fairly accomplished target man who provides us with options (when fit). Beyond those three you have Hammond (who no one will be foolish enough to take off our hands, but at the same time he wont play), DeVries (like Hammond no one wants him, but he's working hard and provides cover for Cort) and then there's Fryatt (who seem's semi detached from the team and Allen's plans anyway and has little to recomend him other than an inflated reputation and a baffling place as "fan's favorite")... in addition to those three you have kids like Stappleton, Odihambo, McKay and Dodds (all of whom will get their chances either through the reserves or out on loan). As for Riordan he gives us more options, and would give us four credible options up front (along with Hume, Campbell and Cort) while offering greater height than either Hume or Campbell and the flexibility of being able to play on the left... so all in all he'd make a decent signing IMHO. That said, it's critical that we look to strengthen the midfield (much as Weso and Clem looked decent yesterday and seem to be building a real partnership)... with any luck Ferreira will also be a step in the right direction.
Daggers Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_2671169,00.html"Norwich, Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich have all been credited with an interest in the former Hibernian star, but Leicester are thought to be leading the race for the Scottish international's signature." We may be quoted to be leading the race - but those guys from Norfolk certainly aren't dragging their heels in expressing their re-doubled interest in him
NorthernFox Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 Oill have a large portion of rioordan on the side!
Geo V Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 If he came, do you guys and gals reckon it will be on a loan? I`d be surprised if they let him go on a permanent deal as he is still quite young. I think we`ll grab him on loan this week.

I think we`ll grab him on loan this week. Wouldn't surprise me to see that. That could be a good idea for all parties- they get to see their player play probable regular first team football, he gets the matches and we get the player. All this and he doesn't have to leave a big club either Sounds like that would be probable to me.
Master Fox Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 Looks closerlinky poos I didn’t know Stephen Hughes had a twin brother? Hopefully this twin is the more developed and normal rather than the weird and rubbish one.
He's not bald Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 Looks closerlinky poos Are Norwich City and Norwich United interested then?..how come we never see their local derby
Brainy Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 Are Norwich City and Norwich United interested then?..how come we never see their local derby Norwich, Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich
Kilworthfox Posted 19 August 2007 Posted 19 August 2007 Are Norwich City and Norwich United interested then?..how come we never see their local derby The whole city is so good they named it twice ! Actually I hate Norwich its too far away, has terrible transport links and their fans never sing! Hate the place! they were the worst spusportsters in the league for me last year

Well the other lad we were linked to from Celtic (Kenny Miller) came off the bench two score the winning goals for them today so I cant see him leaving. Riordan is a realistic signing but I`d prefer a permanent deal having already brought in two on loan. I know they keep getting linked to Kilmarnocks Naismith so maybe we have a chance of bagging Riordan and supplying them with the extra transfer kitty to go for Naismith? Lets hope its a permanent deal.
