TheBlinding Posted 20 August 2007 Author Posted 20 August 2007 More importantly, his agent has spoken and its looking good...http://www.sportinglife.com/football/cc_ch...MHD=nationwide1 Derek Riordan's agent claims the Celtic striker is in line to join Leicester this week. The 24-year-old former Hibernian forward has not played for the Hoops yet this season and has been linked previously with Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich. Agent Jim McArthur described Riordan's spell out of the Celtic team as "frustrating" for the player. McArthur added in The Sun: "Leicester have been in touch and I'd expect them to step it up. "I've spoken with their owner Milan Mandaric over the weekend and I would like to think something could move this week. "They went in for [Jimmy-Floyd] Hasselbaink and didn't get him and now they've turned their attentions to Derek." Fcuking agents just trying to get more teams interested in
MPH Posted 20 August 2007 Posted 20 August 2007 hmm.. i tend to think it will be an 'either or' I dont believe they are looking for a DJ/Hume type striker ( Which Riordan is ) so that suggests IF we do sign him it will be to play on the left. which i also undestand is where Ferrera plays. Cant see us signing both...
Joe. Posted 20 August 2007 Posted 20 August 2007 This is sounding more promising by the day now.... I think Riordan would make a great signing, I just hope we could beat off the competition.
The People's Hero Posted 20 August 2007 Posted 20 August 2007 You never know with us though - not smiling about this till he's signed on the dotted line!
Lester LXXIV Posted 20 August 2007 Posted 20 August 2007 You never know with us though - not smiling about this till he's signed on the dotted line! ....sensible!!
Stevosevic Posted 20 August 2007 Posted 20 August 2007 Also Riordan didn't make the bench last Sunday. He often does. Does that mean anything? Last Sunday or yesterday?
Dames Posted 20 August 2007 Posted 20 August 2007 When will Milan realise we have other problems instead of being obsessed with bringing a striker with a decent name.
Kilworthfox Posted 20 August 2007 Posted 20 August 2007 Looks soooooooo close now Link 1 Link 2 Link 3 Link 4 Riordan

STUHILL Posted 20 August 2007 Posted 20 August 2007 When will Milan realise we have other problems instead of being obsessed with bringing a striker with a decent name. You really happy with our strikeforce?? U think we will score enough to be in top 6? I really don't, I think we need someone exactly like this, someone who has reputation of scoring. I don't want to rely on players like Devries or 'sicknote' Cort. I rate DJ and Hume but then you look at the top teams and they have 4-5 stikers with that kind of quality or better! I am sure MM and MA are also looking at other areas or weakness but that should not stop them strengthening in all areas when we can!

DanTheFox07 Posted 20 August 2007 Posted 20 August 2007 Been looking on some of the football websites this afternoon and apparently we are stepping up our efforts to sign him this week. Strangely enough i live with my stepdad and he is A Celtic supporter, He tell`s me that Riordan has a lot of baggage and he has just got out of court for being involved in a braul(fight) however he said to me that he is probably the best finisher on Celtic`s books but it seem`s they have lost there patience with him? My stepdad reckon`s That he would do a good job for leicester. Jimmy floyd hasselbaink was clearly not the answer and im pleased that we didnt sign him, it`s time to put thought into who were signing now instead of signing has been`s like hasselbaink. Clearly we need a 20 goal a season striker and i think Hume and Fryatt are capable of getting 20 Goals in season, but Fryatt has obviously got problems because i think he should be in the first team ahead of the likes of campbell. Reaction and opinion`s on this.

DanTheFox07 Posted 20 August 2007 Posted 20 August 2007 And that would be a no to what exactly? Riordan signing or Fryatt playing?
Chrysalis Posted 20 August 2007 Posted 20 August 2007 I agree we need another striker. Out of 3 games only 1 goal from a striker.
MPH Posted 20 August 2007 Posted 20 August 2007 a celtic fans response to possibly selling Riordan: Your Comments o-canio (Celtic fan) "If he heads south, and it will be a shame if it's true, I feel he should be in the 2-3mill bracket-whats the bets it about 1-2? The sell on value Celtic get for proven players to the Championship, compared to what Championship get to the PL is ridiculous and pretty hard to work out given the players involved, hopefully it's not true as he's never been given the chance by GS, rumoured to be the result of some playground style spat in training between the 2."
