Brainy Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 Now that Cort has finally made his debut, can we stop with the "he's always injured" nonsense. When I see a thread about our strikers, all I see is "Hume... hard-working, Fryatt... slow, Cort... always injured." He proved about two seasons ago with Wolves what he can do when he's 100% fit.

In a lazy DB11 stylee, how did he do? At wolves I mean. In terms of goals appearances and such.
filbertway Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 I think it was around 1 goal in 3 games. Not a bad record to be fair. If he makes 30 appearances for us and scores 10 I'll be happy.

Brainy Posted 1 September 2007 Author Posted 1 September 2007 Unfortunately I can't find his goalscoring record for that season on the net. He scored 31 in 90 something appearances say Wikipedia. I think he did get injured about halfway through that season too. 10+ I would have thought.
Thracian Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 He may confound me but he didn't look anygthing like first team standard at Telford.
Thracian Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 Apparently Cort limped off after the game!!! Nice sense of humour?
adam Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 How come he got ahead of Fryatt especially as fatty boy scored 3 for the ressies.
DB11 Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 How come he got ahead of Fryatt especially as fatty boy scored 3 for the ressies. How is Fryatt in any way, shape or form fat
adam Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 How is Fryatt in any way, shape or form fat Didnt you see him in pre season?

MPH Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 How come he got ahead of Fryatt especially as fatty boy scored 3 for the ressies. different positions. big guy little guy combination. he is probably competing with Cambell& Hume whilst Cort just has to oust MDV.
Thracian Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 How come he got ahead of Fryatt especially as fatty boy scored 3 for the ressies. Good question apart from the idea of playing little and large strikers. Truth is we should probably have used both.
Stevosevic Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 How is Fryatt in any way, shape or form fat People label some footballers fat, like Lampard and Rooney, in our case Fryatt, even though they are in far better physical shape than the large majority of fans. Silly really.

Well its all relative - I used to call Williams a lazy b@stard and I'm sure he covered more ground than I ever did when playing. Lampard may not be fat, but he is/was tubby for a pro footballer, just like Hughes was shite but would look like Pele compared to most here.
Flynny Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 By the sounds of it DJ should be down the pecking order, though obviously his price tag and former record mean that he'll be persisted with a little longer. Fair enough. I'd like to try Hume and Cort up front with Fryatt coming on in the 2nd half, probably for Cort. The new guy is hopefully going to be creative on the right flank for us, and Sheehan should suffice on the left.

Hume and Cort sounds good Although De Vries on later for Cort and maybe have DJ/Fryatt on the bench aswell.
Lord Nibblington Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 Hume and Cort sounds good Although De Vries on later for Cort and maybe have DJ/Fryatt on the bench aswell. So... De Vries, DJ and Fryatt all on the bench? Can't see the need for 3 strikers on the bench.
TheBlinding Posted 1 September 2007 Posted 1 September 2007 I'd have Campbell and Cort upfront with Hume playing from the right. MDV has done well but I think Cort can do the same things that De Vries does as well as being more of a goal threat.
RizLCFC Posted 30 September 2007 Posted 30 September 2007 Carl Cort - we've given him time to get fit and he has played a few games, what is he like? for me he doesn't give anything to the team, waste of space in our squad, if he continues to get the nod i hope he proves me wrong, but, if not i for one will be very angry.

Not as good as i thought
ronnup Posted 30 September 2007 Posted 30 September 2007 Not as good as i thought improvement yesterday but still far from dangerous. Just occassionally useful.
