National Anthems

Seeing the French and Irish rugby union players belt out their respective anthems, some in tears, has moved me sufficiently to create this topic.

Personally I think there is no finer sound in world sport than that of the Welsh national anthem prior to Six Nations games in Cardiff.

And the English national anthem should not be God Save The Queen.

Thoughts?

I said pretty much the same thing to my dad when I was watching it.

Land of Hope and Glory.

To be serious.

I actually thought that was what was sung at Twickenham, mind you I haven't been near or by the place since about 1984.

"Bread of Heaven" at Cardiff Arms Park was a sound to behold.

Without wanting to sound too bias, we DO have the best anthem in Europe. By a long way. It's just so genius for sports.

Ireland's call is pretty good, as modern anthems go - far better than Flower of Scotland. Hearing that at Croke before the paddies shagged you lot last year honestly brought a tear near my eye. :D

How about we all just settle on something by The Prodigy then?

"Hole in the ground" by Bernard Cribbins would be a cheery national anthem.

Either that or make it an instrumental - the Birdy Song.... Instead of singing passionately, people could just do the Birdy Song dance to show they love our country.

How about Beck's 'loser'.
