http://www.thefa.com/England/U19s/NewsAndF...9squadeuros.htmAfter missing the Under-17 World Cup, Mattock jumps an age group. My bet he will start tonight, then Villa will buy him in January :(.Is he the only thing exciting at Leciester at the moment?

If they offer decent money I say bite their hands off.

He's not off the requisite standard yet to get us out of this division, we need a proven performer.

Would they swap for JLloyd-Samuel?

He's hardly setting the place alight at the moment is he. But he's still a kid, I understand that.

Villa won't buy him. I don't believe that for a second.

Is he not at Bolton now?

Yes

I wouldn't want to sell Mattock yet. He may not be ready for a regular run in the first team but punting out all our talented kids before they get the chance to mature wouldnt be the best thing. Hopefully he in time can develop into a very good player as from the few times that I have seen him it seems he has got "something about him" and could have a really good career ahead of him. I just think we are asking a bit too much from him too early and he isnt handling the pressure to easily.

Anyway, lets hope he gets a run out in the u-19s.

Congratulations Joe. It's been tough at times so far this season but I've been impressed given his age. Hopefully he will fulfil his huge potential.

I hope he reads that. I imagine it would make him feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Let's hope he stays injury free - what a jagged little pill that would be to swallow.

I was in his class for GCSEs :) He's such a funny guy.

He'll do great, seriously if he was allowed a bit more creativity and there wasn't as much pressure he'd kick arse. He's built like a shit house and can make you look stupid in an instant.

He's one to look out for in the future.

Be honest, was he a cocky bastard walking around school? And did he like to show off playing football on the field? And was his girlfriend fit? :D

We did.

The problem was though, he used to have dreams where he’d think he was going to the toilet. Some nights he'd do a little wee and it would trickle through the mattress and fall onto my face while I was sleeping. Still, in the morning we'd laugh and joke because Joe was such a fun guy like that.

That made me smile. Not a brick shithouse no, just a shit house.

Anyway, congratulations Mr Mattock. I'm liking this positive stuff.

Congratulations.

His start to the season has been a bit ropey, but we're not playing well at all. He's got the ability to be quality, he has shown in patches for the first team just how good he is and he's only 17. I hope he has the deterimation to push on and get better and better.

I have a feeling he'll score tonight if he plays. Can envisage a screamer from 25 yards and him jumping in the stand, then a cheeky sending off.

Stearboy will score tonight if he plays.

He loves scoring in the cup.

Him and sheehan looked very dodgy on the left at CHarlton Sam and mills took the piss out of them.

Hs a long way to go before he is anything like a good player. Seehan too.

I don't think Mattock is the problem in the equation there though. He's got the ability, but it would help if he had a left midfielder alongside him who is capable of defending and communicating.

All I really want is some peace, man, a chance to find some common ground.

Dont worry man I got the Alanis Morrisette quote there ;)

True I'd concede that, though I don't think we have one of those at the club, Porter? Dejzi? Not sure how i'd feel having Mattock as a left wing back in a 3 5 2, I feel he could be a bit isolated.

Mattock was poor against Charlton. Sheehan was woeful, but Mattock was still poor.

I'm not arguing with that, he's been fairly poor in the other games this season I think? But I think it's more down to who he's been playing alongside if anything. He has the ability, but he needs help on the left hand side from either an experienced player or a player who's got the ability to not leave Mattock isolated at times. At the end of last season, Mattock was told to go out there and play without fear. We looked dead and buried and Worthington told Mattock to go out there and not worry about things, he's not been part of the mess all season so shouldn't bare the brunt of it. Mattock was a breath of fresh air and proved at 16 that he has a lot of ability.

I'm not sure whether he should be in the first team right now, especially not alongside Sheehan, Hayes or Porter as they'll do him no favours. But if playing him will help his devlopment then i'm all for it, he'll be a quality player in years to come.
