Basingstoke Fox Posted 26 September 2007 Posted 26 September 2007 LONDON TEAM AWAY!! how about now getting revenge on Fulham
martyn Posted 26 September 2007 Posted 26 September 2007 I like the idea of playing 5-3-2 permanently but with slightly more attacking emphasis (i.e perhaps Kaebi in on the right and the purchase of a more forward thinking midfielder to play with Clem & Weso when fit). I was very critical of the team selection considering I thought we would be hoofing it to 2 small strikers yet again but fair play to Megson, he got it right.
mkingy Posted 26 September 2007 Posted 26 September 2007 im still unconvinced by Fryatt, but tonight YOU ARE GOD He does the business on every other other important occasion.
Stuliasz Posted 26 September 2007 Posted 26 September 2007 Liverpool away as always, really want to go to Anfield before they move.
WetFlannel Posted 26 September 2007 Posted 26 September 2007 He does the business on every other other important occasion. does him no harm for a first team place...
Linekaaaah Posted 26 September 2007 Posted 26 September 2007 Brilliant result. Unexpected, but brilliant! And equally impressed by what sounded like a superb team performance. More of the same against Stoke, eh lads
NorthernFox Posted 26 September 2007 Posted 26 September 2007 I listened tonight. Could not believe the difference 3 days make. Tactically Gary Megson was spot on. Even if the last 8 minutes was a bit hairy. Players in better positions. Clemence & Fulop sounded out of this world. Maybe a light at end of. Good Win. PS Barber still a merchant.
Blue Bob Posted 26 September 2007 Posted 26 September 2007 I think beating Villa is the result of the round. I know the press will highlight Cov but the team Man utd put out anyone could have beaten them. Well done Megson - could you be the chosen one ?
mancunianfox Posted 26 September 2007 Posted 26 September 2007 Liverpool away as always, really want to go to Anfield before they move. I would love that too. Probably more than Man City actually.

I agre i like the 3-5-2 formation and why not play Hume in behind the 2 strikers

Daggers Posted 26 September 2007 Posted 26 September 2007 Pub before game: £7.80 Ticket: £15.00 plus £1.50 booking fee Walking home from the match with all the morose Villa fans: Absolutely sodding priceless. I never get to be home this early, ever. And to do it celebrating a totally unexpected win with an arm full of Stella...
MPH Posted 26 September 2007 Posted 26 September 2007 didnt go and didnt listen, although a great result yes, was it a good performance ie playing good football? or did we grind out a result? are you expecting us to play like brazil when playing away from home to an established premier league team with an outside tip to finish in a european place?
WetFlannel Posted 26 September 2007 Posted 26 September 2007 looks like these scrappy 1 - 0 wins arent that bad after all
Koke Posted 26 September 2007 Posted 26 September 2007 Produce a solid display on Saturday and secure 3 points, and I'll eat every word I said about Megson. Fair play to the Ginger.
Monk Posted 26 September 2007 Posted 26 September 2007 Unbe****inglievable. Can't believe we didnt get trolloped!! Kudos to Megs
Daggers Posted 26 September 2007 Posted 26 September 2007 Villa were piss-poor. Their fans were piss-poor. Our support was great apart from the twat in CC 65 that told me to sit down...and then chanted "Stand up, if you love Leicester!" while sitting. Sometimes I wonder if I should start taking a gun to games and doing the world a favour.
WetFlannel Posted 26 September 2007 Posted 26 September 2007 tbh, im not getting my hopes up just yet. At the end of the day its one win... its gave us a massive boost in confidence and was thoroughly needed but we cant all suddenly change our opinions over maybe a one off game... ive never criticised megson and wont cos in my opinion hes an ok manager but ive still had the doubts over 'who we could of got'. But anyways, dont want to sound negative! Anyways, well done the lads and megson...

Sometimes I wonder if I should start taking a gun to games and doing the world a favour. But weren't you getting heart attacks when we were defending so desperately. We ended up with 9 defenders on the field and on another day we could've conceded. Ah well, fair play to Megson, he got it right tonight. Lets hope for 3 points and a good performance against Stoke.
Lillehamring Posted 26 September 2007 Posted 26 September 2007 A great counter-attacking performance by all accounts. a great counter attacking moment, is probably more accurate... whilst this undoubtedly is a great result, i am far from convinced that either a) megson is a 'tactical genius' b) everything is gonna be great from now on. i can work with 5-3-2 or 3-5-2, but tonight's team is not a long term solution and we might not always get away with such results, cant wait to here from attendees, hopefully not all will be as rose-tinted as what i have read so far tonight... the stats speak for themself: Possession 65% 35% Shots on target 7 3 Shots off target 5 2 Corners 15 3 Fouls 13 16 another day, this could have been a whitewash, credit to fulop and our defensive nous, and credit to fryatt for carving something out of nothing.... but against stoke in the league it will be a different matter, will the concentration and spirit shown tonight still be present? still too many questions in my mind... but good damn, it feels good to beat villa again!
AyewJoking Posted 26 September 2007 Posted 26 September 2007 Wasnt expecting that! Upstaged by Covscum though
maddog Posted 26 September 2007 Posted 26 September 2007 Just got back awesome. WE just need to win league matches now. Arsenal away next round please!
filbertway Posted 26 September 2007 Posted 26 September 2007 Was alright, Fulop kept us in it to be fair, along with about 5 last ditch blocks being made. Fryatt took his goal well, great composure just when it was needed. I just hope people don't go OTT and saying we're brilliant, Megsons a god etc... Then as soon as we draw//lose with the same tactics, oh he's sh*t get him out.
