Lillehamring Posted 2 March 2009 Posted 2 March 2009 Schoolboy.Late Of The Pier are fantastic but i guarentee Valerenga won't like them well, i wasn't exactly moved to make a purchase, but i liked some of it... vocally, at times, it was like camden '96 all over again *shivers* but i didn't really hate them, there was enough to them to keep me interested...for a bit.
MC Prussian Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 And another load of quality(?): Karkwa Library Voices Aram Scaram Hayden Brassmunk Jacuzzi Boys Lemonade The Tallest Man On Earth The Secret History Harlem Zeroes Dave Norris Brent Randall & His Pinecones Monsieur Cannibale Paper Moon Decomposure In-Flight Safety

MC Prussian Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 dude, any chance of some brief descriptions, i'm sure there is some quality in there, but i don't have the time to 'research' each one! They're mostly Canadian bands. I love tuning in to CBC Radio 3 every once in a while to catch up with the latest trends from across the Ocean. Karkwa - A Québec indie rock band, so unless you understand French, probably not your p. of cake (nice songs, though) Library Voices - Fun farmer pop from Saskatchewan, has a marching band-influence Aram Scaram - Toronto Dubstep, reminds me of the Thievery Corporation Hayden - folky rock, a younger Tom Petty? Brassmunk - advanced Hip-Hop, but old-school style, really flow-tastic Jacuzzi Boys - Florida Surf-Pop, I think you'd like them (if you like The Raveonettes) Lemonade - Self-proclaimed Garage House 'n Jungle from San Francisco The Tallest Man On Earth - Swedish acoustic folkpop, certainly influenced by Dylan The Secret History - New York indie pop, albeit a little dull for my liking if I'm honest (comes close to the Cardigans) Harlem - Texas thrash, cowboy-style, brings back Monkeys memories Zeroes - smooth, light indie from Montréal (as good as Kashmir from Denmark) Dave Norris - soothing, laid-back acoustic folkpop, Ottawa Brent Randall & His Pinecones - Nonsense pop group, with a touch of the 70ies (10cc springs to mind) Monsieur Canibale - Very good Belgian troupe with melodic & dramatic songs Paper Moon - Excellent pop from the middle of nowhere aka Winnipeg Decomposure - Experimental stuff, newest album is one track with 50 minutes running time In-Flight Safety - Synthie pop like in the good old 80ies Give some on MySpace a listen.
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 4 March 2009 Posted 4 March 2009 Hot Club De Paris. I thought people knew them but no one I know does.

Joe. Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 Hot Club De Paris.I thought people knew them but no one I know does. Sometimes it's better not to, stick bits of each other in each otherrr, for each otherrr! These were playing at the same time as The Killers at Leeds last year, no chance bless 'em.

Trav Le Bleu Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 Some more food for thought(s):J.Tillman (Fleet Foxes) Nickel Eye The Hylozoists BrakesBrakesBrakes He was the support for Fleet Foxes when I saw them at Trent Uni. As a result I got the album off Emusic - it's rather good!
General Smuts Posted 5 March 2009 Posted 5 March 2009 Ego Armalade I have a limited edition cd you might e interested in ...
Joe. Posted 16 March 2009 Posted 16 March 2009 Phoenix. Heard about these a month or so ago and just managed to get hold of their album which comes out in May. If anybody fancies a listen, go for '1901', absolute beast of a track. Also, Grammatics are another band I hope are destined for good things.

StanSP Posted 24 March 2009 Posted 24 March 2009 NIXA http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fusea...endID=100539187 I don't know if any of you go to the Firebug in Leicester, but they're playing there on 26th March (Thursday) If any of you do end up there or decide to go, let me know what you think. Spoken to the band and they seem quite friendly and would like to know what your thoughts are
Edmund Posted 24 March 2009 Posted 24 March 2009 Cant be arsed to read through the whole thread but Thomas Tantrum are pretty decent. Probably the indie guys on here have heard of em but there still small in the grand scheme of things. Not really a massive indie fan (I hate that word) fook it emo fan but I like there quirky style.
