Lillehamring Posted 4 September 2009 Posted 4 September 2009 The Cave Singers (fans of Fleet Foxes will rejoice)David Bazan (Seattle-based singer/songwriter, Brendan Benson-ish) DD/MM/YYYY (Canadian Neo-Punk - comparable to Fugazi) The Depreciation Guild (electronicguitarpop, I hear Tears For Fears) Everything All The Time (reminds me of Stars, another highly talented Canadian alternative pop group) The Got To Get Got (Canadian alt-rock) Still Life Still (another Canadian) cave singers - not quite convinced by the comparison, folky, yes, but the singer kinda makes me think of some kind of red-neck bolan.... depreciation guild - woah, seriously shoegazing - think MBV, chapterhouse, with glitch beats... pretty cool. not on spotify
Lillehamring Posted 4 September 2009 Posted 4 September 2009 Animal Kingdom - kinda like his voice but still a poor mans loney, dr - The Temper Trap - um, no... Chairlift - different, not bad, not great. The bottom 3 Val and Alexei should like.
Jay Posted 5 September 2009 Posted 5 September 2009 Forever The Sickest KidsGo search them You know after the brokencyde you are STILL banned from these parts after the mental torture suffered as a result
StanSP Posted 5 September 2009 Posted 5 September 2009 Forever The Sickest KidsGo search them No. That's nearly as bad as your BrokenCyde shout.
StanSP Posted 5 September 2009 Posted 5 September 2009 Yeah, found out about them the summer before last. I was really into them around the time of the breakup with an ex. I think I put in one of their songs on a mix for the FT CD Swap #2 ("Fully Alive") Don't ask about the late reply to this. The song 'So I Thought' was the choice for me in the same situation. Still one of my favourites now. They have a new album out 'Memento Mori' either late this month or early next month
General Smuts Posted 5 September 2009 Posted 5 September 2009 Thought you'd be into Temper Trap Val. Shame.
StanSP Posted 5 September 2009 Posted 5 September 2009 Thought you'd be into Temper Trap Val. Shame. His loss
lavrentis Posted 5 September 2009 Posted 5 September 2009 Forever The Sickest KidsGo search them Not bad actually from what Ive heard of them
General Smuts Posted 5 September 2009 Posted 5 September 2009 Been banging on about these for six months! (Goes into Smuts moaning rant) Belgium band I believe. Very BRMC but without the JAMC glumness.I've got stuff by Bombay, Temper and Chairlift. Cant say I have listened to them much. The BRMC link was why i thought Finners would be into them. I'll be honest i didn't check to see if they'd been mentioned before, didn't even know they were belgian. The single 'I Think I Like You' is brilliant. Mini Viva are gash, don't even go near them. I doubt they will be anyone on heres cup of tea, tis why i didn't recommend them to anyone. But i'm digging there video on NME TV at the moment.
StanSP Posted 5 September 2009 Posted 5 September 2009 Not bad actually from what Ive heard of them I thought you had good taste in music
Lillehamring Posted 5 September 2009 Posted 5 September 2009 Thought you'd be into Temper Trap Val. Shame. ha, no, they were the worst of the lot--- can't even remember what it was, probably the vocals...or the songwriting...

Part Of The Crowd Posted 6 September 2009 Posted 6 September 2009 Forever the Sickest Kids annoyed me before I listened to them, the same as BrokenCyde. Some of the fanboys are right knobs.
MC Prussian Posted 6 September 2009 Posted 6 September 2009 Engineers (WOW - what a band! Electric Soft Parade, anyone?) Wild Beasts (I don't know what people have against the singer - got a voice you need to get used to a bit, especially on the first album, but the tracks are all quality) Washed Out (What a great pop style - reminds me of Miami Vice and/or some other 80ies TV series)
Part Of The Crowd Posted 6 September 2009 Posted 6 September 2009 Engineers (WOW - what a band! Electric Soft Parade, anyone?) Great band there, I love the variation of styles.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 6 September 2009 Posted 6 September 2009 The Galvatrons - An Australian band, they are quite up-beat happy rock, with a bit of electro stuff in there aswell. I saw these guys supporting Enter Shikari and they were so much fun, some friends and I decided to liven up the crowd by actually doing something which got us an invite backstage to hang out with all the bands which was pretty cool

Will check out the other 2 later though.

Oh well, Hayden Thorpe's falsetto outbursts really aren't everyone's piece of cake, I admit that. "Woebegone Wanderers", "His Grinning Skull", "She Purred, While I Grrrd" or "Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants" are great and beautiful songs, though. BUT... bass player Tom Fleming gets more singing opportunities on "Two Dancers", and he's good - like on "Two Dancers, Pt. 1".
