Lillehamring Posted 17 October 2009 Posted 17 October 2009 Yep I got there album, even though I don't have a clue what there saying the musics nice. Highly recommend it. In fact I've got quite a lot of Danish music. They love there sample based music, is really refreshing to hear. There hip hop beats are also next level. i know what you mean, i listen to loads of japanese music, and the voice just becomes an additional instrument..... the one you posted, i think there was something about a bonsai tree
Lillehamring Posted 17 October 2009 Posted 17 October 2009 here's an intersting one... they look like a black metal band, but are kinda grungy if anything and they have songs about nike air and anorexia... the music is heavyish but not aggresive, and the vocals are almost spoken to the point of rapping. FJORDEN BABY!

Lars Vaular even to my ears this sounds very fresh for rap music, ok the lyrics will be lost on you, but the tracking is really good, i believe he actually uses a live band as well as programmed stuff. ps. there are a lot of hiphop acts in his friends, you can probably find some great stuff amongst them....
Lillehamring Posted 17 October 2009 Posted 17 October 2009 ok, do you like grizzly bear? then you may well enjoy Grand Island and alt-folkish, pop, rock outfit from oslo.
General Smuts Posted 17 October 2009 Posted 17 October 2009 All The King's Men by Wild Beasts is absolutely fantastic. I've listened to Two Dancers quite a bit today and keep coming back to this song. Can't remember if it was Val or Alexei who reccomended them but - THANK YOU! Heard it accoustic on Zane Lowe's gonzo the other week and it blew me away. Brilliant.
General Smuts Posted 17 October 2009 Posted 17 October 2009 Wild Beats singer annoyed me so much that i turned it off. Will check out the other 2 later though. Oh well, Hayden Thorpe's falsetto outbursts really aren't everyone's piece of cake, I admit that. "Woebegone Wanderers", "His Grinning Skull", "She Purred, While I Grrrd" or "Brave Bulging Buoyant Clairvoyants" are great and beautiful songs, though.BUT... bass player Tom Fleming gets more singing opportunities on "Two Dancers", and he's good - like on "Two Dancers, Pt. 1". fook me you were right and i was wrong. EDIT: and you're also right about Fleming's voice. Reminds me of Tom from Editors a lot.

MC Prussian Posted 20 October 2009 Posted 20 October 2009 Gotthard. Good ol' Gotthard. Swiss hard-rock at its finest. Not particularely my piece of cake, but nice to see them being mentioned on a UK messageboard.

Part Of The Crowd Posted 21 October 2009 Posted 21 October 2009 Leaves Eyes, rock fronted by a female vocalist, they have quite a Nightwish feel to them in places. Some very good riffage in their stuff though.

I like > Was expecting something similar to Flyleaf/Paramore/Evanescence (they're the only bands I know with female vocalists). I like her vocals. Compliments the vocals somehow . THe riffs are good too. Sound a bit like Bullet For My Valentine in some parts.

I thought you'd like this, there are a few heavier songs and a few more symphonic songs as well. I only recently heard about them and then they got confirmed for Bloodstock festival next year, which I'm blatantly going to with some of the bands playing.

Who else is at Bloodstock that's worth mentioning?? If my YouTube would get its act together, I could actually watch some of their videos too as well as their songs <_<

It's a great metal festival and tickets are only £89 which is pretty awesome.

Koke Posted 22 October 2009 Posted 22 October 2009 I heard a great track at the Walkers against Derby. I don't know the name of the song, and I can't for the life of me remember the words to the song. <_<
James. Posted 22 October 2009 Posted 22 October 2009 Anyone heard of Grizzly Bear? I've just started listening to a few of their tunes after downloading a couple of albums on eMusic and I reckon they could be brilliant. Been around awhile now it seems but I've only just discovered them and am still not entirely sure what I think about them.

They've just recently re-released their debut, which sounds too experimental and abstract to me.

Can't remember the name of the other one I downloaded. Like I said I think I really like it. I generally struggle with guitars and bands and all that but these guys are actually trying something different and it seems they're pulling it off.
