MC Prussian Posted 12 June 2009 Posted 12 June 2009 Aren't these all old bands? Arms? Old? Autolux's album was made in 2004 - so if 5 years are considered "old", then yes. The Dirty Projectors are old, giving their releasing record. Am I not allowed to like them? Or have you heard them before? I wouldn't want to offend the Smutsmeister . How about Land Of Talk Little Girls Takka Takka Thieves Like Us The Uglysuit ?

Cat Burger Posted 15 June 2009 Posted 15 June 2009 I bang on to people about Mew all the time, their album Frengers was out in about 2003 but I still listen to it as if it were just released. It's definitley one of my all time faves, and their last two albums are not bad either. I'm sure Shen is aware of them, being fellow Danes and all.

No was just odd for you to pick old bands that i'd heard of ! Confused me. 2004 is sooooo 5 years ago.

I don't think we have much to brag about, and they're by far and away the best band that have achieved commercial success this past decade. Have you heard the latest single from their upcoming album? Frengers was/is great, but I personally think ATGHK edges it.
mja Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 Saw a band called Baskery over the weekend, 3 Sweedish girls, they were good. Tales from beyond the groove- the limp twins Time and Tide-Bias Some Kon & Amir mixes Mike the 2600 Blockhead Doom Howard Elliot Payne El Guincho Osaka Monaurail
MC Prussian Posted 23 June 2009 Posted 23 June 2009 you're not wrong, the first track on their my space she sounds a bit like suzanne vega, yes very nice - not on spotify yet I still can't get on... You'll find the first full Reverie Sound Revue album, which is released today, on iTunes. No other of my (half)legal sources have it on yet. Oh, and try Bibio. West Midlands guy, but does some really funky stuff.
MC Prussian Posted 27 June 2009 Posted 27 June 2009 Amazing Baby Bell Orchestra (an orchestra indeed, instrumental-heavy) Foreign Born Sleepy Sun (touring the UK in July)
Part Of The Crowd Posted 29 June 2009 Posted 29 June 2009 Avantasia, they are Tobias Sammet's side project and sound a little bit like a heavier Iron Maiden at times. Kamelot - One of my favourite bands, I can't get enough of them, especially the stuff that guests other vocalists as they do those really well.
StanSP Posted 30 June 2009 Posted 30 June 2009 The Boxer Rebellion Name rings a bell. Evacuate is alright. Quite like In Pursuit too. Think they're the only 2 I've heard.

Lillehamring Posted 22 July 2009 Posted 22 July 2009 just been listening to the 'goa way' (terrible, i know) album by a norwegian artist called, safariari.... really very good, kinda 80s synths and make indie-ish vocals, some electronica and some chuggy guitars.... http://www.myspace.com/safariarisound
MC Prussian Posted 23 July 2009 Posted 23 July 2009 Fancy another bunch of unknowns? The Bicycles (some of the best pop songs I've heard in a while) Desire Elephant Stone (alternative pop with a hint of sithars) Hooded Fang Karkwa (French-Canadian poprock, Radiohead-esque) Numéro (very fresh French-Canadian dance/electronica) The Rural Alberta Advantage Zeroes They're all Canadian bands, btw.
