Lillehamring Posted 22 October 2009 Posted 22 October 2009 Anyone heard of Grizzly Bear? I've just started listening to a few of their tunes after downloading a couple of albums on eMusic and I reckon they could be brilliant. Been around awhile now it seems but I've only just discovered them and am still not entirely sure what I think about them. me and alexei have alexei, what did you think of the donkeyboy track?
Part Of The Crowd Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 Disarmonia Mundi, a bit of Melodic stuff, just as a warning, it is metal so has got screaming in it, if it's not your thing then it isn't likely to change your opinion. The clean vocals chorus is quality though.
Joe. Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 The Morning After. You mean the Mourning After? Not sure. I've seen them supporting the Wombats at the Charlotte though I think a couple of years back.
Fosse Boy Posted 23 October 2009 Posted 23 October 2009 You mean the Mourning After? Not sure. I've seen them supporting the Wombats at the Charlotte though I think a couple of years back. No, these are a synth metal band from Essex. Doubt they'd be supporting The Wombats to be honest, but who knows?

StanSP Posted 24 October 2009 Posted 24 October 2009 I'm not gonna trawl through each page, but do any of you musical experts know of low-profile (i.e. not made it big yet) rock/alternative bands, maybe with female vocalists? Apart from the one POTC mentioned earlier (Leaves Eyes I think), as well as Paramore. Flyleaf, Evanescence...I can't think of any others

StanSP Posted 24 October 2009 Posted 24 October 2009 Lacuna Coil, with the lovely Cristina Scabbia from my picture Ah yes, missed that one! Checked out Nightwish and Within Temptation - think you mentioned them the other day (?). But anyway, after seeimg some of their vids on YouTube, I'm not downloading their discographies since 1996

Checked out Nightwish and Within Temptation - think you mentioned them the other day (?).But anyway, after seeimg some of their vids on YouTube, I'm not downloading their discographies since 1996 I do like a bit of Nightwish it must be said, Within Temptation not so much. You might also want to check out Epica and Walls Of Jericho, although Walls Of Jericho aren't really rock, more a hardcore metal band. Epica are a bit of Gothic/Symphonic rock, all of their albums are massively different to each other. Sonic Boom Six are probably a bit too Ska/Punk ish to go into this but are worth a shout. All have female vocalists.

MC Prussian Posted 9 November 2009 Posted 9 November 2009 Latest music update: BK-One (with Benzilla) - pretty good and melodic HipHop Brother Ali - see above John Southworth - very good singer/songwriter with British roots, currently residing in Canada, plays stripped-down and melodic stuff Junior Bloomsday - alt rock Neon Indian - electronic/dance with an exotic touch, reminiscent of the 80ies Sonny & The Sunsets - check out their single "Too Young To Burn" The Soundcarriers - Electronic/alternative band from Nottingham, VERY GOOD Surfer Blood - rowdy alternative sounds from Florida, with a slight hint of Vampire Weekend Thao with The Get Down Stay Down - pretty decent folk/pop songs, love the guitar play on their albums The Week That Was - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED, astonishing, rich pop songs from County Durham that remind me of the good old 10cc days, lots of strings and wonderful drum play

Jonezy Posted 13 November 2009 Posted 13 November 2009 Friend introduced me to Mumford & Sons a few days ago. Who would have thought, that one of my best folk rock fixes this year would not be from Seattle, but from England.... Well great band, check them out if you like a bit of folk rock. http://www.myspace.com/mumfordandsons
Guest Posted 15 November 2009 Posted 15 November 2009 David FordStephen Fretwell Truly brilliant this guy, had his songs for the road album for a while and his lyrics are fantastic. So you can keep your belief in whatever And I'll wear my cynicism like a tattoo While poets try to engineer definitions of love Oh you know that all i can think of is you The American Dollar - quite into these at the moment, well ambient

Besides mentioned Little Lion Man; The Cave, White Blank Page and I Gave You All are the main songs for me. Definitely a pleasant surprise this band.
