Trav Le Bleu Posted 5 March 2010 Posted 5 March 2010 Valerenga, you may like Sarah Jaffe's 'Clementine'. Really nice track from an artist who might get some coverage this year. Saw her supporting Midlake at The Musician earlier this year and she was very good. On my to buy list.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 I'm actually thinking that I could name hundreds of bands that I have the music of, which most of the regular posters in this thread will have heard of, but which invariably will be so far off the radar of the people I meet on a day to day basis that I would need an atlas of the universe just to give them a frame of reference.
Lineker's Left Foot Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 For me it has to be three artists I'm really into at the moment July Skies July Skies Tears Run Rings Biosphere
FoxyPV Posted 8 March 2010 Posted 8 March 2010 Gonjasufi - pointed his way via youtube and well worth a listen to. Pretty weird
lcfcadam Posted 12 March 2010 Posted 12 March 2010 Pretty much every band / artist around other than Oasis and Kasabian. No one in real life seems to know anything about music anymore , which is weird given the number of decent tastes on sites such as Last.fm etc... The amount of "30 seconds to mars" etc emo-metal crap that is mentioned on these threads also makes them pretty difficult to read without getting a bit hot under the collar! Credit to the mentions of, to name a few, Fujiya and Miyagi, Godspeed You! Black Emperor etc though.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 14 March 2010 Posted 14 March 2010 Some more artists/bands I'd like to hear more from: The Drones (melodic Aussie Slow-Rock) The lead singer can't for the life of me remember his name is soon to be releasing a solo accoustic album check it out if your a fan.
Joe. Posted 24 March 2010 Posted 24 March 2010 James et al - Flying Lotus ring any bells wth you? Seems like the sort of thing you'd like I think...
Poakey Posted 4 April 2010 Posted 4 April 2010 Maricatchi El Bronx - Maricatchi El Bronx, really catchy album.Although slightly different.
General Smuts Posted 14 April 2010 Posted 14 April 2010 Darwin Deez - THE FUTURE of pop music. Everyone should have heard of him by now or will do soon. The album is on Spotify now and is fantastic. Stornoway Lisa Mitchell Gaggle - Hilarious. 'I Hear Flies' needs to be heard to be believed. My word. It's like Newcastle on a friday night has mated with Glasgow on a saturday night and it was not consentual and it didnt call afterwards or cuddle. Envy - Lady Sovereign's younger sister. Naive New Beaters - This is what i expect Alexei would sound like if he was in a band. Or kinda like the Teenagers.
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 Lisa Mitchell . Thought you had taste's Mr Smuts. if i hear coin laundry one more time i will crack it.
General Smuts Posted 16 April 2010 Posted 16 April 2010 Thought you had taste's Mr Smuts. if i hear coin laundry one more time i will crack it. I like it. It's nice and twee and quiet and i can put it on in the background and relax without thinking about it. I prefer Oh! Hark! to Coin Laundry though.
Part Of The Crowd Posted 26 April 2010 Posted 26 April 2010 Blood Stain Child, they are like a better Enter Shikari. Listen to Freedom off of the album Mozaiq and you'll see what I mean.
StanSP Posted 26 April 2010 Posted 26 April 2010 Blood Stain Child, they are like a better Enter Shikari. Listen to Freedom off of the album Mozaiq and you'll see what I mean. I do see what you mean. Mainly because of the music and the synth especially. Definitely not the voice though!
MC Prussian Posted 26 April 2010 Posted 26 April 2010 Egger, a Trohno-based quartet with some real nice indie tunes: Released their first album in 2005 and have recently followed up with a new EP. Check out their Zunior page.
MC Prussian Posted 27 April 2010 Posted 27 April 2010 The Wave Pictures, a strong trio originally from Leics, with some Violent Femmes tendencies (add a little bit of Morrissey and The Smiths). Original lyrics, equally good on tape and live. Have collaborated with Hefner, amongst others.
MC Prussian Posted 27 April 2010 Posted 27 April 2010 For the electronica fans amongst you, I present you Delorean, a Spanish-Basque (!) group of four, that have recently released their new album "Subiza".
Lillehamring Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 For the electronica fans amongst you, I present you Delorean, a Spanish-Basque (!) group of four, that have recently released their new album "Subiza". bit too housey for my tastes...
Lillehamring Posted 28 April 2010 Posted 28 April 2010 The Wave Pictures, a strong trio originally from Leics, with some Violent Femmes tendencies (add a little bit of Morrisey and The Smiths). Original lyrics, equally good on tape and live. cool, very low-fi but fun....
MC Prussian Posted 6 May 2010 Posted 6 May 2010 Reminds me a lot of the "Roseland NYC" Portishead album - with a certain 60ies touch to it. Although the Receivers sound a bit more melodic and less depressed.
Joe. Posted 8 May 2010 Posted 8 May 2010 Just going to throw a few names out there... The Chapman Family Villagers (high hopes for these) Fionn Regan
