Monk Posted 27 October 2007 Posted 27 October 2007 7 to everyone, apart from Cort, who I'll give a 4. An average performance but got the job done, which at the end of the day was what mattered. Nice to see Monty Panesar making an appearance

An average performance but got the job done, which at the end of the day was what mattered.Nice to see Monty Panesar making an appearance i'd give that Pratt 2/10 (ref) ludicrous he booked some of ourts for soft challenges yet didnt give anything for the foul that looked like it was inside the box and should of been a red let alone nothing!

Hm, in fairness, I was level with the edge of the box on that side and I dont think it was a peno, and he wasnt the last man as there was another defender on his inside. But overall he was far too whistle happy, like most of the refs in this league.

Joe. Posted 27 October 2007 Posted 27 October 2007 Fulop 7 Stearman 6 N'Gotty 7 Kisnorbo 7.5 McAuley 7 Sheehan 7- Sublime cross for goal. Weso 6.5 (Subbed for Chambers 6) Newton 6- Although he was playing rugby, kicking into touch everytime he touched the ball in first half, did alright for his standards. Hume 6 Fryatt 6.5 John 7 (Subbed for Cort 4)

Webbo Posted 27 October 2007 Posted 27 October 2007 Newton crossed it for the first goal. I think. I thought it was from a Sheehan free kick, but I was at the other end so you could be right.
reynard Posted 27 October 2007 Posted 27 October 2007 Fulop 7 1 very good save and several excellent catches. N'gotty 7 very steady as usual Kisnorbo 7 well taken goal and some good interceptions. Mccauley 6 ok really about as far as it goes. Stearman 5 Some good things but positional sense not very good. some reasonable work going forward. Sheehan 6 Excellent corner for the goal. Not bad but shows lack of experience with his positional play. Weso 6 ok until injured Newton 7.5 the first 20 mins were awful but after that and especially after weso went off he had a good game. probably mom. one thunderous tackle in the 2nd half. Also some neat passing and good forward movement. Defensively not as good but I have to admit he had a good game today. Hume 6 played far too deep to be really effective. some good defensive work but offered little going forward from dep positions. Fryatt 5 very disappointed with him today. tried hard but his lack of pace is a huge handicap. John 6 despite some poor service he did ok and showed he can finish when given a chance. Chambers 5 didn't really notice him at al. Cort 4 waste of time. useless in the air and not much better on the ground. Grateful for a win but don't let ourselves be kidded here. Barnsley were very very poor and we were not very much better. Given the current circumstances I am happy with the result but we need to be so much better if we are to seriously challenge at the right end of the table.
Jimmy Posted 27 October 2007 Posted 27 October 2007 Fulop 7 - not much to do but did it all well and kept his concentration N'Gotty 7 Kisnorbo 6 McAuley 6 Stearman 7 - got forward well put in some decent crosses Weso 7 - played well don't know what his injury was Newton 6 - solid performance some good runs Hume 8 - good passes, got forward to support well Sheehan 7 - defended well and got forward as often as he could, some good crosses and a great delivery for Kisnorbo's goal Fryatt 7 - got all over the pitch and never gave their defenders a moments rest John 7 - got his goal and a weight seemed to lift from his shoulders was playing well until going off injured Chambers 6 - by far his best performance in CM Cort 5 - struggled to get involved, won some decent flicks though

TheBlinding Posted 27 October 2007 Posted 27 October 2007 Fulop - 8 (Took everything, made a good 1 on 1 save too) Stearman - 5 (Slightly improved but still poor, why did he start over Chambers?!) Sheehan - 6.5 (Didn't contribute much in open play but stunning delivery again. He should take every set piece we get) McAuley - 7 (Solid, poor distribution though) N'gotty - 7.5 (Calm, always there to sweep up) Kisnorbo - 7.5 (Rock solid at the back and great header) Wesolowski - 6.5 (Was holding the midfield together keeping things ticking over before he went off) Newton - 6.5 (Ran at players and some nice touches...then he started passing ) Hume - 7 (Looked so much better in midfield, linked between midfield and strikers, something thats been missing) John - 6.5 (One chance, one goal) Fryatt - 6 (Pretty ordinary, should have been subbed last 15 mins, looked tired) Cort - 6 (Won headers and set up a couple of good chances for Fryatt and Hume) Chambers - Right Back

Dames Posted 27 October 2007 Posted 27 October 2007 Don't let 1 or 2 runs fool you, Newton was terrible again today.
Simi Posted 27 October 2007 Author Posted 27 October 2007 Newton 7 mom Can I ask how and why? I thought he was as poor as ever today. His passing in the first half was nothing short of atrocious, couple of runs second half which didn't really come on anything.

Simon Posted 27 October 2007 Posted 27 October 2007 Fulop 7 (I love this guy, he's awesome!) McAuley 6.5 (distribution getting really annoying) Kisnorbo 7 N'Gotty 6.5 (As McAuley) Stearman 6 Sheehan 6.5 (Excellent left foot, but my God is he lazy!) Weso 7 (no coincidence that we suffered after he went off) Newton (1st half 3, 2nd half 7- like a different player!) Hume 6.5 (I thought he was good at times, and poor at others. Not as good as everyone's been making out) John 7 (excellent, although suffered a bit late on until subbed) Fryatt 5 (I still like his movement, but he just wants to take one too many touches, not just in preparation to shoot, but also when other players are crying for quick layoffs!) Subs: Chambers 6.5 (huffed and puffed but is no CM) Cort 5 (First touch is APPALLING!)
Nod.E Posted 27 October 2007 Posted 27 October 2007 Fulop 7Stearman 5 Mcauley 6 Bruno 7 Kisnorbo 7 Sheehan 6 Hume 7 Newton 7 MOM Weso 6.5 (Subbed: Chambers 7) Fryatt 6 John 6.5 Cort 4 Fairly average performance but never the less, a good win. Good confidence booster. Hmmm... In patches yes. About 3 runs he made were brilliant! So on that side of things i see your point. But for most of the first half we was absolutely shocking. Passing went for throw ins that gave them posession back when we were attacking. Defensively he was also awful, literally starring at the ball. Steve Walsh highlighted this in commentary. But i do see what you mean, if he played like he did for most of the second half all game i wouldve gave him MOTM myself because his runs were quite unbelievable.
GO GADGET GO Posted 27 October 2007 Posted 27 October 2007 Fulop 7 where would we be without him but didn't have much to do but what he did he did well Bruno 6 pretty solid i thought Kisnorbo 7 good header for goal McCauly 6 sold enough Sheehan 6 good dead balls to contribute to goals Stearman 5 struggled with the wingback concept to defensively minded Weso 6 ok Newton 6 shocking in 1st half until his run, good 2nd half Hume 6 alright seemed to get into this position as the game went on Fryatt 6 had to try & carve things out for himself John 6.5 as above & stoated the goal well done Chambers 6 did a reasonable job cort........'nuf said Ref 5 contributed to make the game even poorer than it was. Barnsley were very poor at 2 goals down they did a megson & held on to that, good 3 points but papering over very very big cracks. GAME very very very poor.

Yeah I see what you mean mate, just didnt see who else really caught my eye. Not the most eye catching of performances but a win none the less. You never know what might happen, might finally get a decent manager in & get a string of results together...
