davieG Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 Mattock will be finding this a bit strange with a recognised winger (Milner) playing in front of him.

Wezleylowski Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 Walcott man of the match. Pffft. MOTM should have gone to Milner, or Mattock
WetFlannel Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 Good performance from Mattock then overall?
ASH17LCFC Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 Mattock will be gone in the summer. 17 years old and playing for the U21. We got no chance of keeping him really ... Should bring in a nice 2-3 Million though. I saw Stearman on the bench freezing his b*llocks off aswell ...

ASH17LCFC Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 he doesn't have the profile of Gareth Bale so i cant see anyone coming in for him for a year or 2 yet Depends though, he could have a few really good games for us and keep getting in the U21 and the bigger clubs will come in for him. 17 will make people sit up and take notice of him. Chelsea and Liverpool where sniffing around for him and i'm just glad we slap him on a 3 yr contract. So we shall get some serious money for him.

Mattock's nothing special yet, I can see him being here for some time yet, and as for the £2-3 million quid you're on about you must be joking. He's worth nowhere near that yet. Until he can cement a regular place in our side and then continue with his England life, he won't be going anywhere I don't think.

The thing is though, clubs will see this ... 17 Year old championship left back + U21 player already = Bright future. Clubs will want him because it seems that he could be something special. Now me, i don't think Mattock is nothing special but Good left backs are hard to find and good english left backs. If he keeps playing for us and getting into the U21. I shall bet anyone, he won't be here next season.
brookfox Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 Didn't realise this which is pretty impressive... "They almost equalised shortly after going behind but Leicester's 17-year-old left-back Joe Mattock, who became the second youngest player to ever represent England Under-21s, cleared off the line."
Ultra Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 Mattock was very shaky in the first half, but his game improved after the break. Don't think the Premier League bosses will be entering into an auction for his services any time soon, though..
Candidcamera Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 Mattock was caught out of position because every time he overlapped Milner didn't pass to him and lost the ball. I remember a certain Lineker playing his first international and there was a similar reluctance to pass to him by Luther Blisett. Look what he achieved. Well done Joe. This was a window on a poor season for city fans. Thanks.

Jimmy Posted 17 November 2007 Posted 17 November 2007 Ash or whatever your calling yourself now, you are just building mattock up in the exact same way people were building Stearman up when he 1st go into the team, wonder how long before you turn on him ala Stearz?

Totally agree, people seem to be getting way carried away with the lad. Don't get me wrong he looks like a decent prospect, but same was said about stearz when he was 17. If a club offered 5m+ mill in jan or the summer I would let him go straight away!! That won't happen because he just simply isnt good enough for that kinda figure, bearing in mind marin jol has left spurs, he is the only manager who seems to have a little fettish for young english boys...
crisp monster Posted 18 November 2007 Posted 18 November 2007 after a very nervous start i thought Mattock did well he seemed like he didn't know where he was supposed to be playing and failed to track the Bulgarian overlapping in the 1st half to be fair the Bulgarian right winger was well tricky and not for the 1st time at any international level, the opposition out passed and out thought England bloody cold night though and my car got filthy due to the building site mud that we had to pay a fiver to park on
