Ultra Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 What has Joe Mattock done so far this season that has been so bad? I've been to all but one of the games that he's played for the first team and I can't remember him 'disgracing' the City shirt on any of those occasions. He's 17 years old! If he looks out of place in first team football every now and again then I think his age is a valid reason. I can't believe that you as a City supporter are hoping one of our talented youngsters, and Mattock is talented, gets injured! On reflection I was a little harsh towards Mattock. He's still very raw and it's not his fault if the lack of decent left-backs at our club (at ANY level) means that he's been promoted too soon. I take it that the game you missed was on Saturday, because he was awful then, never once taking on a man or putting a decent cross in. Stearman though is a different matter entirely, a constant liability to the rest of the team. His many deficiencies have been well documented on here and elsewhere in recent weeks. So his call-up to the England squad is a shocking indictment of our game and our management. And it's far more than he deserves.
Matt Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 Aren't you lot supposed to be supporters??? Two of our young lads have been called up into the England U21 squad something that hasn't happened in a while. That is a massive achievement and we should all be very pleased for them. Instead everyone jumps on here to run them down and talk about how s**t they are. Why can't we just celebrate that a couple of our players have been recognised as promising talents for once?Jeez. I am happy...for Mattock. Stearman - Jesus! Milan will have to spend more money getting the door frames widened so Stearman's head will fit through! I am a supporter, I will support the players that play for my club, but i'm also not gonna bullshit for them, if there shit i'm not gonna deny it, and Stearman most certainly doesn't deserve to be called up. One of the main offenders of not looking bothered, not looking as if he cares, not trying is Stearman and its not just recently it's been consistant for 2 years, 3 years ago yes Stearman was worthy of a U21's call up ever since he's been worthy of a non-league team.

Lisburn Fox Posted 12 November 2007 Posted 12 November 2007 A bit disapointed to say the least, not with the call ups well done to both players. The attitude of many on the forum lambasting Leicester City Football Club players for getting called up into the national squad at any level just leaves me a bit gob smacked. OK so YOU may not rate one or both of them but at the end of the day thier clubs go in brackets after thier names and that means two of our clubs players I am chuffed for both. WELL DONE and I know Stuart Pearce may not be the best manager in the world but my guess is he knows a touch more about the team he wants to play than some on here.
SystonFox Posted 13 November 2007 Posted 13 November 2007 well done to the both of them cannot beleieve how many on this board wanna get on the lads' backs.
Alexikokopops Posted 13 November 2007 Posted 13 November 2007 well done to the both of themcannot beleieve how many on this board wanna get on the lads' backs. You sound surprised. We're Leicester fans, what do you expect?

Tommy G Posted 13 November 2007 Posted 13 November 2007 well done to the both of themcannot beleieve how many on this board wanna get on the lads' backs. Here here. People need to get behind the players and not slag them of FFS. Fair play to them both, whether stearman ijn particulatr has deserved it is debateable, but now he's got the chance he needs to prove his worth. Unlikely however that they will start, undoubtedly squad players..

Mark Posted 16 November 2007 Author Posted 16 November 2007 Rumour has it Mattock is starting! Incredible acheivement if true.
RowlattsFox Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 England Under-21 boss Stuart Pearce is set to hand a debut to Leicester City defender Joe Mattock for their Euro 2009 qualifier with Bulgaria on Friday. Mattock, 17, is set for his first taste of international football at MK Dons' stadium:mk in the Group Three tie. Pearce must do without defenders Nedum Onuoha and Andrew Taylor, winger Michael Kightly and strikers Cameron Jerome and James Vaughan. England have added West Brom's on-loan striker Ishmael Miller to the squad. Good Luck Joe.
Ric Flair Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 Rumour has it Mattock is starting! Incredible acheivement if true. Amazing really, even Heskey (I don't think?!) and Joachim didn't play for England Under 21's at 17.
Fat Ron Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 Amazing really, even Heskey (I don't think?!) and Joachim didn't play for England Under 21's at 17. Its probebly down to injuries in all honesty but who cares... I hope he takes the opportunity and makes a name for himself! Top lad, quality player.... Better than Sheeh Ooops... Contoversial..
RowlattsFox Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 Don't impress too much, the scouts will be watching
Manwell Pablo Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 to Joe if he starts, a truly fantastic acheivement at 17.
The Reverend Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 Seems the papers are speculating that he will start. Fair play to the lad really.

Without doubt it's down to injuries, but that's how most get their chance so young. I don't see an abundance of young English left backs in the Under 21's right now, soe Mattock has a great chance of nailing that spot down.
Bert Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 How many people who wern't gonna watch the u21's are going to be now then eh? Well done Joe.
Tommy G Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 Rumour has it Mattock is starting! Incredible acheivement if true. According to?
Tommy G Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 If im not mistaken stearz and mattock were only called up because of injuries to current members. Looking at the squad stearman has no chance of playing but mattock does as im not sure who else can play LB??
Maybes Posted 16 November 2007 Posted 16 November 2007 Surely it shows how shite our english youngsters are if mattock and stearman are in the squad!
