Kilworthfox Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 19 points off of 1st 13points off of 2nd 8 points off playoffs 30 games to go for most 31 for LCFC We must get 0.63 points on average per game better than Watford to finish 1st (1 game in hand) We must get 0.43 points on average per game better than West Brom to get 2nd (1 game in hand) We must get 0.27 points on average per game better than Ipswich to get 6th (1 game in hand) Possible? What do you think?
Raj Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 As much chance of me being Heavyweight Champion of the World.
Kilworthfox Posted 23 November 2007 Author Posted 23 November 2007 As much chance of me being Heavyweight Champion of the World. Haveyou asked Mark Jarvis that?
Trav Le Bleu Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 I will go as far to say as it's NOT impossible...
Raj Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 Haveyou asked Mark Jarvis that? he wouldnt let me in...But William Hill said you've got as much chance as Leicester getting promotion!!! Make of that what you will.... But to be serious i think with the big squad of shite Ollie has it may take him a couple of months to get rid of most of them and he'll obviously want his own players in too,so it all prolongs things. First thing we gotta do is pick up points at home and as many a manager has found out THAT is a big task in itself.
Nath Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 It isn't impossible, but the question is are we able to? Yes we are able to, but the question is, do we want it? Yes we do, but the question is how much? Alot, but the question is the player's ambition the same? Im going to stop there.

However i think you'll find the answer to "It isn't impossible, but the question is are we able to?" Is perhaps NO we are currently NOT able to.
Finnegan Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 Who knows? It's impossible to tell. If Olly has the effect we all hope he will then we've as much chance as anyone else of reaching the play offs. We're not going to win the league, but it's not even Christmas. We have a strong remaining November and December and we could very well be 6th or 7th - very realistically - in time for the new year. It's just absolutely impossible to predict.
Simi Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 Christmas is really the time to judge I think. If we can stay in touch with the chasing pack by the time Christmas comes we will have done ok. Holloway will have had time to assess the squad and then identify players he may want to bring in. A late stab at the play-offs isn't impossible. But as I've said before, top half finish would be a good improvement considering the season we have had so far!
Raj Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 Obvioulsy i'd love em to get in the top 6 but i cant see it happening this season. We've won 3 League games so far.....3..... And the last home game?// well we all know about how dire that was. I just think Ollie needs to stabilise and build a foundation for us before we actually think about achieving things. Clear out the deadwood and have a decent sized squad who can all do a job if called upon.
Ozwin Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 Sunderland did it and they looked worse than we do now. But I suppose they have Roy Keane.
Raj Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 Sunderland did it and they looked worse than we do now. But I suppose they have Roy Keane. Fair point.....like the others have said, you just dont know eh?...Good luck to him!
Tabou Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 I'd much prefer that we didnt get promoted this season through 1-0 wins and scrappy football , because we would be the whipping boys and be back here in 1 year. I'd much prefer promotion next season, with an established squad, capable of fighting for their place in the prem next year. Let the abusive comments commence...
Matt Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 Right I do and have blamed the players for the mess were in and I don't want to go blurting on back to Martin Allen and tbf he was only here for 3/4 (? - I've forgot...Was a long time ago ) but he got alot out of those players, and they played well (Some people have disagreed with that, but it's my opinion, I thought we played the best i've seen in a long time under Allen) but I think that was all down to the motivation from Allen. If Holloway is the motivator I believe he is I think we'll be ok, that doesn't mean I think we'll go up this season but we will certainly be moving forward! That also doesn't mean I want some of the deadwood to stay at this football club.

Let the abusive comments commence... Not at all. I can see why some people would think that, but I think if we get the chance we have to take it, it wouldn't be worth taking our foot of the peddle then have circumstances that prevent us going up the following year, ie losing a manager (shock horror). With the financial structure been how it is now it's impossible not to aim for promotion. Getting battered week in week out would not be pretty, but I doubt that Mandy would let that happen. Derby have the scenario now where it looks like they're buying for next season January. We wont be going up this year anyway.
MC Prussian Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 Promotion... oh, what a lovely word. Thing is, it'll take ages and a minor miracle to change things around at LCFC.
davieG Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 I think we are capable of so much more as I asked in this thread In comparison to most squads in this league ours is one of the strongest on paper sure there are some weak areas but these can be put right in January. I think this squad is capable of being in the top 6 whether we have the right set up to support the team is debateable but given that and sufficient time there's no reason why we can't get there.
sdb Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 There's always a team that comes up from nowhere around Jan and shoots up the table, often taking the form into the play offs. I don't see why it can't be us, I still think we've got one of the top 10 squads in the division and if the ogmonster can add a player or two and get us in the mood i can see us scraping 6th. i wouldn't bet on it mind...
purpleronnie Posted 23 November 2007 Posted 23 November 2007 I love our fans, if we sign someone we will be promoted, new chairman = promoted, new manager = promotion. Hope springs eternal.
