AoWW Posted 24 November 2007 Posted 24 November 2007 Brown Brother's Tarrango - lovely! (and fairly cheap!)... Tescos do it!
Phube Posted 24 November 2007 Author Posted 24 November 2007 Brown Brother's Tarrango - lovely! (and fairly cheap!)... Tescos do it! Didn't I recommend that to you a few month's ago??!? But if you like that try Brown Bros.' "Cienna". It's a red (that you chill) which is only partially fermented (~4.5%) but it's slightly effervescent and really refreshing... perfect Barbeque wine! Especially if you're driving!
MC Prussian Posted 24 November 2007 Posted 24 November 2007 I just ordered half a dozen bottles of red as a christmas present for me dad - excellent choice, all six of them out of biological production. It's a good selection of some of the world's best wine regions: El Molino/La Mancha Vinya Laia/Catalunya Baron de Rubiac/Bordeaux Villa di Geggiano/Chianti Meinklang/Burgenland Villa Dorata/Sicilia Bargain at 60 Swiss Francs (26 Pounds British).
Solihullfox Posted 24 November 2007 Posted 24 November 2007 Bought 12 mixed bottles of good quality white wine including Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Grenache from Sainsbury's Nectar Wine Club. They were half price at £35 and as introductory offer also got 3 bottles of quality Rioja and decent corkscrew for free !
Alexikokopops Posted 24 November 2007 Posted 24 November 2007 Pinot Grigio from the Bridges Supermarket in Leamington. Two bottles for a fiver. Tastes like your finest vinegar.
Phube Posted 24 November 2007 Author Posted 24 November 2007 My Tesco Wines: Chilean: Cabernet Sauvignon - Carmenére Poully Fumé Burgundy - Pinot Noir Rawnsley - Cabernet Merlot Montana - Pinot noir Rosé Aussie - Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc

I think you mentioned it, but I'd discovered it all by myself long before then. I've not tried the Cienna but could well be tempted into giving it a go. 4.5% though? I think my liver could feel short changed!
Daggers Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 4.5% Just reading that has almost sent me into anaphylactic shock
ASH17LCFC Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 I hate the smell and taste of wine. I love that comment, short, sweet and to the point ... That maybe is the greatest comment i've ever read on here
AoWW Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 I hate the smell and taste of wine. <note to self: must not snog Bert... he won't like it>
lookwhaticando Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 lol lol lol lol lol lol lol Anyway, moving on... As for those who don't like the smell/taste... have you actually tried a proper wine, or did you just attempt to down the cheap wine that someone brought to some kind of youth party as a laugh?
Phube Posted 25 November 2007 Author Posted 25 November 2007 Quite... I used to buy crap, cheap wine... but the proper stuff is... Couldn't have my Chilean red last night... got a migraine... But the wife kindly left me some for dinner today !!
The People's Hero Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 This is my sort of thread, unfortunately, after over-partaking last night, I'm in no frame of mind to give this the sort of informed contribution that it deserves. Suffice to say - give me a few hours and serve me up a feisty, brutish Aussie Shiraz and a selection of fine cheeses with crusty bread and I'd be very very satisfied.
Steven Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 I had a very thin Californian Cab Sav (2005 Blossom Hill) last night. Good flavour but the wine just died in the mouth. No body.

Well if you buy Blossom Hill, what do you expect!!? A lovely Cab Sav from California is McManis Limited Release Cab Sav. 2006. Only £7.99!! It is an exceptionally nice wine! Edit: Available from Tesco!
Bert Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 <note to self: must not snog Bert... he won't like it> Pfffffft. Yeaaahhhhh right,

lookwhaticando Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 I enjoyed a glass of Wolf Blas Grey Label Cabernet sauvignon (Langhorn creek, 2004). Rather nice.
Lillehamring Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 i like wine. in Norway people like wine, a lot, but it is only available from one store called - vinmonopolet - (get it?) and it shuts at six pm during the week and three pm on saturday, & is closed on Sunday. it is also very expensive, as you can imagine.
