mancfox Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 Am i glad we didn't sign Hasselbaink! Awful performance tonight when he should have been trying to prove a point against us. Kept moaning at the other Cardiff players all game. Don't think his heart is really in it anymore. At least hes getting his 10k+ a week wage packet off Ridsdale.

Yes I meant to say, what a prat he was all night. willy puller. Give me Fryatt anyday.
Koke Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 Well just got back a little while ago, and I thought first half was a bit dull which is understandable as both sides played 48 hours ago. There was some heavy legs out there. Second half was better. Especially when Ollie's threw in the three subs. Jonathan Hayes added much more to the team attacking wise and he sure knows how to cross. Ashley Chambers was good, considering it was his debut he was very good. Well done to him. The performance was better than the home games against Wolves, Sheff Yoo and Burnley. We didn't hoof it as much as we used to, although we didn't really create many clear cut chances. Alan Sheehan's delivery was top notch once again. Great save by Kasper. And as Dave Jones himself said "and the save from Kasper in the first half was his dad, he's outdone him with a great save..." Over-all fairly satisfied with the performance as everyone worked hard. Although a shame we didn't win, we needed that bit more quality in our final pass.
The Reverend Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 To Quote Ollie 'We threw the kitchen sink at them and the contents of the garage, but still could'nt manage it. At least the garage is tidy now'!

Best part of the match for me was, when Sheehan made a cynical foul, the Cardiff fans were singing, "Same old England, always cheating" We was like, he's fockin irish! haha.
Simi Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 Main positive to take from the night was the performance of Chambers, if Fryatt new the first thing about anticipation Chambers might of claimed an assist. Sheehan knocked some good balls around but at times lacked some variety, whereas Hayes looked lively, one superb cross. We just never looked like turning any of the chances in goals, which is a little worrying. Atmosphere? Pah!
The Reverend Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 On a serious note though we were very unlucky tonight. We deserved 3 points for the way we went for it in the last 20, and to have 3 kids on like that was exceptional. I still think there is not a cutting edge in this team, but hopefully Ollie will sort that in January, because thats all we lacked. We've gone back to a 4-4-2 and are still keeping clean sheets, the midifield is very solid to me, with a few wingers aswel tonight (Newts + Hayes), its just that cutting edge up front and i just dont think someone like Fryatt has the guile to break down a defence like theirs tonight, same for Hume. Would like to see DJ given a run of games. Ollie seems to have the balls to make big tactical decisions, which is positive. We just need some creativity. Onwards and upwards!
Flynny Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 If it wasn't for a terrible miss he would have had 2 in 2 games. He's a fooking right-back, scored Saturday, AND had the best shot of the first-half. Sort yourself out.

I agree absolutely awful atmosphere very disappointed with that as I though this was meant to be a 'New Era'. Poor. Good performance though at times played decent stuff. Chambers was good as was Sheehan.

Best part of the match for me was, when Sheehan made a cynical foul, the Cardiff fans were singing, "Same old England, always cheating" We was like, he's fockin irish! haha. Aye my bad. Sheehan knocked some good balls around but at times lacked some variety, whereas Hayes looked lively, one superb cross. That cross he put in was begging for someone to just touch it and it'd have ended in the back of the net or Kasper would made a sublime save.
The Reverend Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 He's a fooking right-back, scored Saturday, AND had the best shot of the first-half. Sort yourself out. Sorry mate but he was poor today, really was. He was skinned twice - its a good job Fulop is so commanding because the guy put 2 decent crosses in. He gave the ball away sooooo many times, just hoofs, and looks so so rushed on the ball, like its a hot potato. Please get Chambers in.Now.
Samilktray Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 Oh come on, surely I'm not the only one that saw him lose his man and be out of position so many times, on another day he could have cost us 2 or 3 goals. I agree, the goal chance aside he was poor.
Lillehamring Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 Never fooking happy, stearman did ok tonight, and if not for a great save he would have 2 in 2 games, get off his back. He's a fooking right-back, scored Saturday, AND had the best shot of the first-half. Sort yourself out.
Simi Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 Stearman just cannot stay with his man, McAuley was constantly covering Stearmans ground which he should of covered himself. When he gets on the ball he's nothing much more than a hoof.

City_4_Life Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 Dissapointed not to get, what i think, a deserved three points. On the positvie side the performance overall was not bad and we played some good stuff at times, especially towards the end when we were pileling on the pressure. Also thats another clean sheet which is good.

McAuley did keep getting dragged over to the right, and we suffered for it, so hopefully sticking Chambers in will steady us all along the back 4.
Koke Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 Stearman wasn't as bad as he's been in previous games but I didn't feel comfortable whenever they attacked down his side. He did get skinned once or twice. But you can't really slaughter him for the missed shot. That's a bit silly.

No im not too bothered about his missed chance (obviously its great if he does score), but we need a steady perfomer, Stearman is too streaky for me, not consistent enough.
filbertway Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 MAttock had the shot of the game, beast of a shot that went just over.
Mr Happy Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 Those last 20 minutes were just awesome. We absolutely battered them. Shame we couldn't find a way past Schmeichel.Feeling kind of empty because we didn't sneak it, which I thought we deserved after the last 20 minutes, but heads up, Ollie definately got this team on the right track!! Good last 20mins were the best i've seen since Chelski, the lads gave it a real good go after a poor first half. I reckon the blend of youth and experience worked tonight. Chambers, King, Weso and Sheehan all had a good game. Thought Hayes looked abit out of sorts though. Just a shame N'Gottys been dropped because of the formation change.
Manwell Pablo Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 Looked pretty crap for 70 minutes, back to hoofing it up to Hume and Fryatt expecting them to win it in the air. Good, positive substitutions though. When the ball went wide there was never anyone supporting in the box and we only really looked threatening from set pieces, with a bit of luck we could have won it. Good performance, slightly dissappointing result. Well said, we certainly weren't great for 70 minutes and the first half was dire. I think Cardiff wanting to take draw was the main reason for us applying to much late pressure as opposed to Hayes or King being "revelations"

But they played better than we probably expected.
Bert Posted 27 November 2007 Posted 27 November 2007 Just seen the press conference. Ollie says he won't stand in the way of players leaving, well only to Man Utd, Liverpool, Asenal and Chelsea. He said, unless it's them four, why would you want to leave Leicester City. If you get a chance to watch the press conference, do it.
Ultra Posted 27 November 2007 Posted 27 November 2007 Cardiff shaded the midfield, and Whittingham was dangerous when he came on. We were too negative in the first half. Megson's habits will take time to dispel. But Holloway made some decent substitutions (it's been a while since I could say that about ANY City manager), and with a centre-forward of any quality, we would have clinched the points. Let's hope Cort or Campbell will be fit for Saturday.
