hairy Posted 3 December 2007 Posted 3 December 2007 Does anyone have the match stats? Holloway said we had 17 shots. If we did, you lot are a right load of moaning minnies. Do goal kicks count? I really didn't think Cort was that bad. He could do with getting match fit and then we can have a good look at his performances.
mancunianfox Posted 3 December 2007 Posted 3 December 2007 17? Either Ollie is seing things or I must have missed a lot. It was the mercury that said we had 17 attempts on goal not Holloway. Apologies. Fulop, who is on a season-long loan from Premier League Sunderland, believes City deserved to take something from the game.Iain Hume, Shaun Newton and Carl Cort all went close to giving City the lead while Cort could have brought City level with a second half header. And the match statistics showed City had 17 attempts on goal compared to Southampton's five with Fulop suggesting that, on the balance of play, his side should have taken at least a point from the game. He said: “We didn't deserve to lose points, it's hard to take but we have no time to think about these things. We have to focus on the next game.
davieG Posted 3 December 2007 Posted 3 December 2007 From the OS - I'd believe them if it wasn't for the Newton 2 fouls, did he even make one tackle . seriously though the ref never had the whistle out of his mouth how could that stat possibly be true - each of our players committed no more than one foul except Newton? Leicester Southampton Goals : 1 2 Possession : 53% 47% Shots On Target : 4 3 Shots Off Target : 10 0 Corners : 4 3 Fouls : 13 18 Most Fouls : Newton (2) Davies (5) Yellow Cards : 0 0 Red Cards : 0 0
mancunianfox Posted 3 December 2007 Posted 3 December 2007 Southampton only had three shots? Thats interesting considering the player ratings thread. Don't really understand why our defenders getting ratings of 2-5 if they only allowed the opposition three shots and our midfield as well considering they created 14 chances and we had the majority of the posession. Doesn't seem to me like we got outplayed. More like we were playing with only one fit striker and couldn't score because we had three and a half first team strikers injured against a team who got a lucky penalty and were content to not push forward once they had taken to the lead (which is what most teams do against us at the Walkers because they all know we can't break teams down).

To me it seemed like they dominated the midfield area. Safri, Surman and that midget Dyer owned that midfield. Newton and Clemence were woeful. Hayes had his moments and King didn't command and stamp his authority on the game, which is understandable as he is a rookie. We were toothless up front. And at the back We made a mess out of that handball incident. If only we had cleared the ball instead of ****ing about in virtually our own box it wouldn't have happened. Overall Saints were better than us on the day.

It just suprised me to look at the statistics because they seemed to be from a different match to what most people seemed to have described.
Koke Posted 3 December 2007 Posted 3 December 2007 Yeah, the stats can be misleading sometimes. I think towards the end we were getting desperate and hoofed the balls into the box. We had a few headers that went wide and Hayes and Sheehan had one or two shots that ended up in the stands.

Their right back on Hayes for one. One of ours got booked too.

Raj Posted 3 December 2007 Posted 3 December 2007 I can imagine, from what I herd Kisnorbo and McAuley were absloutle dog crap. Exactly. Kisnorbo was Crap too,as was clemence. But we have a siege mentality at city. Once somebody starts Booing a player, more people do it as they think it is clever and trendy. "Oohh look at me,im Booing Cort too" We did it with MdV and we are doing it with CCort. Give the whole team stick, fair enough, not just individuals, cos when(IF!) they score you will look knobbers when you jump around singing and shouting his name!!!!

AyewJoking Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 Its not pointless as its caused a big debate. The club dont want anyone to boo so they'd better do something ie perform better on the pitch which if it happens, the booing will go away.
evan Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 yes, booing is almost a fashion accessory these days. its become the 'in' thing to do. far more booing of individuals than a few years agowhy? pointless dont forget we used to boo kisnorbo too, when levein played him in midfield. Most of the players were sh1te against soton and cort was no worse than hume. The fans just want to vent their frustration and it inevitably comes out against a player if the manager's rep is intact (as holloway's is). usually players who are booed often end up being cult heroes (no always) so cort will probably be everyones favourite in 6 games time...ala gary coatsworth.
AyewJoking Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 Hume can have a bad game but he has been brilliant in the past and people dont forget that. You cant question his commitment either although I'd think twice about working my socks off if most of my team mates werent up for it. Cort has come from Wolves having done nothing, bought his dodgy fitness with him and hasnt played well. Holloway has got to stick up for him but when is Cort gonna be a man and earn some respect?

To be fair Kisnorbo was out of positon but cort is in the right position and he is still crap

You say people remember Hume for having good games but people don't seem to remeber when we played Chelsea in their own back yard with world class players on the pitch such as SWP, Lampard and Sheva and Cort was arguably the best player on the pitch.

I don't really see the point of hounding Cort out of the team but it is hard to remember another good game he's had apart from the trip to Chelsea. That's nowhere near the 7/10 decent games which is my yardstick for a first team player.
James. Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 His performance against Chelsea is beginning to take on mythical proportions. He played well, certainly his best performance for Leicester, but it wasn't THAT good and anyway the point is moot. Over the season he has not shown nearly enough to warrant a starting place. It was a bad decision to buy him, end of story.

Well said every debate there is a debate about cort the chelsea game comes up. Everyone played brilliant against chelsea but just because cort played well againt chelsea doesent mean he should start all the time
AyewJoking Posted 4 December 2007 Posted 4 December 2007 Why bring up the Chelsea game Jack? Cort cant even be bothered most games, that alone is good reason to boo him. Hume has been here a while and has put in more decent performances than Cort has put in appearances over the last few years.

Think you'll find Carl Cort was,in most peoples eyes, last night's Man of the Match for us. Would have been interesting to see the Booers reaction to him last night!!! Im not saying he is now a world beater, but we'd be Booing EVERY player sooner or later whenever they go through shite patches. Who is it next time?? Clemence????
Cobbo Posted 5 December 2007 Posted 5 December 2007 Don't mess with Cobbo when he's pissed. He'll come up with expert arguments and put them across very well. Ahem. Then he'll ban you for getting abusive.
