Vardinhio Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 I think though you will find we lost 2 goals to Southampton just the other week, hardly 14 games ago
MPH Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 Is a 17 year old kid, playing for the team he has supported all his childhood really going to risk his career so early and go to sunny Scotland? Gareth Bale a 17 year old LB at the time buggered off and left Southampton... Rangers are a huge club... more than double our own weekly attendance...
Asha Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 Gareth Bale a 17 year old LB at the time buggered off and left Southampton... Rangers are a huge club... more than double our own weekly attendance... Yeah if it's a serious offer, we have to except he's going to want to leave.
Manwell Pablo Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 Shilton, Lineker and Heskey all took the money when it was offered to them. Why should Mattock be any different? But I very much doubt whether Rangers will bid for him.. Total faliure to address the point made. None of them we're 17 at the time of moving, in fact I think they were all in their 20's Linekar might even been as old as 24.

He didn't leave Leicester till 1985 (I believe). Which would make him either 24 or 25. It might even have been 1986, making him 25 or 26. Ultra has no point at all. The circumstances are not similar. He's an ar se.

As if you really needed that last line. Don't you ever give it a break?

The point being made was that he's a local lad who will stay loyal to us no matter what. I doubt that. If he decides that his career interests would be best served by a move away, he'll be off, just like the others were. But that time has not yet arrived - although whispers suggest it may not be too far off. Still, any excuse for a dig, eh Manwell? (especially when your online fanclub is around to lend you a hand.. )
Tommy G Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 2 mill would be decent, we should let him go for that or anything above. He could easily do a Stearman and go downhill with age. People shouldnt compare him with Bale bla bla bla. Bale is far a supreme player who broke into the Wales full squad at 17. Mattock only got into the Eng U21's squad because 3 regulars defenders suffered last minute injuries, people forget that.

The point being made is as muc about Mattock being 17 and being in the early stages of his life as much as it was about him being local.
The People's Hero Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 Ultra/Thracian. To almost coin the words of Dylan Thomas, someone is boring me. I think it's you.
The Stig Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 He could be a very good player, but he could go all Stearmany on us, it's too early to tell, it'd be preferable to keep hold of him, but it wouldn't be the end of the world if he went.
Thracian Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 Ultra/Thracian.To almost coin the words of Dylan Thomas, someone is boring me. I think it's you. I wouldn't dream of arguing with you about being boring. Indeed I readily concede that when it comes to "boring"..... You ARE the authority.
Webbo Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 Does anyone seriously believe that a player who isn't guaranteed a place in our side could get a place in a Champions league side?
Messi Posted 11 December 2007 Posted 11 December 2007 Rangers to bid for Leicester fullback Mattock tribalfootball.com - December 09, 2007 Rangers are moving for Leicester City fullback Joe Mattock. The People says Ibrox boss Walter Smith thinks he could be the answer to his club's problem position and the Foxes could cash in. Good, He Is Rubbish. I Will Be Glad To See Him Go.

(especially when your online fanclub is around to lend you a hand.. ) I meant him being still at a young age and only just beginning to fulfil his dreams by playing for the club he supports. He may even still be at school, if this is true then he is half way through his A-Level's, he's hardly gonna just give up on his education like that. His parents may also play a big part in any move that may come up.
Geo V Posted 12 December 2007 Posted 12 December 2007 He'll do much better staying put and getting a move to one of the big four in England in a couple of years time, so long as he doesn't do a Stearman. A tad optimistic there fella. He is OK and does well but I think he is over-rated if I am honest. I wouldn't want him sold for even £1m as its worth taking the gamble and keeping him to see how he progresses for a fee like that but if someone does offer £2-3m then I would bite there hands off.
Fox92 Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 Cash in. I wonder if Sunderland are still after Maybury? I heared Celtic were after Maybury to cover for their full back problems.
lcfc alex Posted 13 December 2007 Posted 13 December 2007 he's my cousin and i see him after every home game
scrivins2 Posted 14 December 2007 Posted 14 December 2007 mattock is good but not rangers standard needs more experience before moving on to better things
Tommy G Posted 14 December 2007 Posted 14 December 2007 he's my cousin and i see him after every home game You wont do if he leaves the club!

I wouldn't be so cruel and ungrateful. I'd take their money, shake their hands and ask em if there was anyone else they fancied at the same sort of money!
