Kilworthfox Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 £2.5mil?!!!!!!!!!! Sell Sell Sell, quick before the fool changes his mind Stearman is not even our best right back and potential pah potential is an excuse as far as he is concerned. He has had potential for 3 years now.
Ric Flair Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 anything above £50,000 is good for him  Thank god you're not our manager. Would £2.5 million get us Fulop and Halford from Sunderland? If so, snaffle.
Lets Be having You Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 why would we want to sell our better players,if martin wants him then thats good enough for me,get off the kids back and start giving them the support they deserve, some of you need to get a reality check, and you lot that think hume is god, just cause he runs about like a dememted dog, sell him for a million, that would be more like it

Graham Fenton £2mil? Goals? Anar Gunlaugsson £2mil less than 20 apps Yes he did have a good record in general, but £2.5 for RS is a fantastic deal for LCFC

If we want to climb the table we need to maintain a degree of stability in the squad, sure improve it but better to spend any effort doing that and getting rid of the dross.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 If that's true... Sell, sell, sell, sell, sell, sell. We should have sold Fryatt when we got the chance and we should sell Stearman now. Stearman isn't going to be the difference between promotion and finishing mid-table. £2.5million for him and we can get another decent wide player along with more cover for the defence. Chambers is definitely good enough to come in and we'll have Kenton back as cover. Of course we won't, but it'd be nice.

Stearman has been dross for 2 seasons now. Get rid! & for £2.5mil? Not even a decision to make
davieG Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 Stearman has been dross for 2 seasons now. Get rid! & for £2.5mil? Not even a decision to make Everyone's been dross for 2 seasons and in fact most of them have been dross this season! Don't you think the plethora of managers might have something to do with that? Since Ollie sorted out where Stearman stood he's been one of the most outstanding/consistent players in the squad coming second to Hume in Decembers POM and looking likely to be voted number one this month. There surely are some unforgiving people on this forum or at the very least selective in who they are prepared to forgive.

The managers situation has been to the detriment of players performances yes. Stearman is not good enough, he has not made the progress with his potential (which is always talked / hyped about) & turned it into reality. For me he is way off a Premiership player. I am not saying he is awful. He gets the tag of Leicester fan but does not play with the passion, effort and commitment consistently (if ever) to deserve the tag which he himself admits. As I said above £2.5 million Snap their hands off. Also this is nothing against RS but If O'Neill wanted to buy Hume (who I rate highly) I would say the same as the players value against what the player gives the team In My Opinion is imbalanced in favour of the supposed offer from Villa.

So how do you explain his recent up turn in performances and consistency? Since December he's been our most consistent player, just check the votes on here alone. Is this a purple patch or him showing his true potential? What more can he do to make progress than continue to improve? I agree, he was crap for almost all of last season, which was a disappointment considering how impressive he was in his first full season. But after a fairly mediocre start to this season, he's now looking every bit the player he is capable of being. Hence him being looked at by Premiership teams again. Is he Premiership class right now? It's hard to say, i've seen him be made a fool of by wingers plenty of times and you'd fear for him up against the likes of Ronaldo, Lennon, Petrov etc. But having said that whenever he's played against Premiership opposition he's usually looked a class above and raised his game. In a team with better players and a manager who is different class, it's likely he'll fulfill his potential which is to be a consistent Premiership performer.

One swallow does not make a summer, and a months worth of half decent / decent performances cannot wash away 2 seasons of bad attitude, bad performances. I don't wish to sound like a daft fan and come out with an overused phrase, but if given the chance to wear my colours and represent my fellow Leicester City fans, who are my friends and Family I would try every game as best I could. Not give displays like RS has done for 2 yes 2 whole seasons. West Brom's Chris Brunt made him look a fool! Let alone put him up against the great wingers of today. I also believe the talk of his potential is just excuses for inconsistency and poor performances. The way people speak of this potential one would think he was going to play for the England 1st team. Well I cannot see one attribute that he has over Richards of Man City. So yes there is potential and potential i suppose and RS does not have the potential to warrant a valuation of £2.5 million. Sell Sell Sell

MPH Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 Villa sites saying about to sign Chinbonda from Spurs, cant see them signing 2 right backsl mirror said they would be interested in both.... losing the young cahill to brum for 4.5 m so they got the money...

Sell Sell Sell I'll give one explanation for the change. Having a winger in front of him and not having to do two jobs all the time while relying on slowish cover behind him.
brookfox Posted 30 January 2008 Author Posted 30 January 2008 Well I cannot see one attribute that he has over Richards of Man City. I'm sorry but why would you?! You're comparing England's first choice right back to another English right back that you could get for about a 1/10th of the price.
Finn Claw Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 £2.5m is good money, if Ollie thinks he can get two or three good players in for that then sell. Has a tendency to hoof the ball but all our defense does, I think Chambers could do a good job at RB personally
lildave3 Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 I'd forgot he was still only 20, I was surprised to hear that on Sky the other night. So people saying he hasn't fulfilled his potential, well he's still got time. I'm not necessarily saying I think he will, in fact I don't think he's good enough to play for Villa, and will have to improve considerably to play for them, but at 20 he still has a fair bit of learning to do. The same (but on a more extreme level) goes for the people who say Walcott hasn't fulfilled his potential.
Matt Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 :w00t: 2.5 Million fecking pounds! If the rumour is true, I love you Martin, Not only for what did while at Leicester but for taking this shite of our hands. Yes Stearman is a good player, We've all seen his potential but it all when he wants to and if he's not using his skill or potential with us, take the money and run, and even when he is good i'm not sure it is worth 2.5. I was happy with the initial rumour of 1 million, but this 2.5 rumour (Even though it is a rumour) has made my day! I'd consider 2.5 million for one of our better players, let alone Stearman.

Cal Posted 30 January 2008 Posted 30 January 2008 Its not as if we're broke. I would reject his offer and wait to see if he follows up with a second bid.
