The People's Hero Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 He shouldn't have to play in midfield. But then that's down to what Holloway does in the transfer window. If Holloway really does think Stearman is a better right-back then I'd prefer to see a bunch of actual midfielders in midfield rather than Chambers and N'Gotty because they are just being hung up to dry at the moment with our fans. If he can't find or afford a decent right winger then he should play Gradel there. Err Fez, you're getting distracted. What do you think of my butter idea?
Manwell Pablo Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 I actually quite like Chambers, so I don't know why i'm debating his defensive abilities. But his performance at QPR has worried me and I hope he either performs better, get's moved back to right back if need be or is dropped. He's never been paticularly good definsively thats why. I wouldn't say he's poor but he gets done every now and again. Then again so does Gary Neville, it happens to all full backs.
lildave3 Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 If it's true, which I doubt, i'd take it without a second thought.
Maybes Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 If it's true, which I doubt, i'd take it without a second thought. Maybe we should create a stearman bandwagon
Uncle Monty Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Stearman is crap, so are most players in the squad 1 mill is a great price for a crap player. Even with 'Milan's Millions' we are still in a relagation battle - league one here we come.
lildave3 Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Maybe we should create a stearman bandwagon By we I presume you and everybody else does the hard work and I jump on at a later date. Yes?
brookfox Posted 3 January 2008 Author Posted 3 January 2008 Is the view on Stearman now that he's a fully fledged RB? When he first broke into the team he was always positioned as a CB playing at RB until he filled out.
Mighty Muzzy Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 £1 million. Take it, I say! Stearman is pants. OR..how about a swap in return for Thomas Sorensen (is we can't get Marton back???
Filberts lovechild Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 £1mill for Stearman??? Thats got to be lazy journalism! If not we should be biting MON's hand off, even at £500K as someone earlier quite rightly posted. The bloke is shite IMO, and yes you can say oh well he's only 20 and all that other crap, but it doesn't take away the fact that he's just not very good at playing football. Our defence has been shite for the past few years (bar this season and thats probablty because we play about 3 defenders in midfield aswell) and Stearman has always been a feature. I feel nervous he's gonna fook up everytime he gets the ball! Milan - SELL, SELL, SELL (and use the money to put towards the Fulop Fund)
Stevosevic Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Is there even any source to this rumour? First page buddy
Maybes Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Is there even any source to this rumour? It was in the Sun newspaper. Therefore it HAS to be true
Tommy G Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 It was in the Sun newspaper. Therefore it HAS to be true [/quotelol its rubbish. Didn't MON have the opportunity to buy him last season, or the pervious? He didnt bother then..
Mort Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Didn't MON have the opportunity to buy him last season, or the pervious? He didnt bother then.. IIRC we turned down offers from both Villa and Sunderland for him last season.
MPH Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 IIRC we turned down offers from both Villa and Sunderland for him last season. sunderland? we could of had Fulop signed sealed and delivered ages ago!!
davieG Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 That's all well and good in theory but in practice IMO we end up playing the inferior one and playing the better one out of position, which is one of the reasons we are in this mess. Who is best from a team perspective is subjective and I wouldn't want argue who was the better of the two as I haven't seen Chambers play that much, besides who is in midfield may influence that. I just feel that if we're trying to climb up this league we need both because I just don't go with this 7 rightbacks as far as I can see we have two plus Maybury who's been told to sling his hook. The midfield stuation needs resolving but I don't see selling Stearman as the solution, if MM needs to sell him to raise cash to strenthen the midfield then I think we're fooked anyway.

Plus Kenton and Kaebi (if he is still here). N'Gotty and Mcauley have also played there even though it is not their favoured position.

Kaebi was told he was surplus to requirements. It would appear that as soon as he learns what surplus to requirements means, he'll be on his way.
mancunianfox Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Kaebi was told he was surplus to requirements. It would appear that as soon as he learns what surplus to requirements means, he'll be on his way. So was Rab Douglas in the summer but were still forking out for his wages every week.
MPH Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 So was Rab Douglas in the summer but were still forking out for his wages every week. he was wise enough to sit on a big wage packet knowing it could be his last decent contact.....
davieG Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 Plus Kenton and Kaebi (if he is still here). N'Gotty and Mcauley have also played there even though it is not their favoured position. I don't consider any of them as attacking RBs, certainly not better than Chambers or Stearman apart from Kaebi and his time has been and gone. So I'll stick with my two plus Maybury.

Scow Posted 3 January 2008 Posted 3 January 2008 If he's so crap why would a 7th placed Premier team be interested? To be fair, has this interest ever been confirmed?
