Ashley Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 I think the new shires looks good. Theres a retail course just been introduced at my school which is one of two schools to be teaching it in Leicester, its for the new shires and the thousands of jobs it will create might take a look.
Staf Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 The new shires looks quite good they should make the JD Sports bigger

A what course? Has that replaced History from the syllabus? Seriously, your headmaster/headmistress should take a long hard look at themselves.
Trumpet Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 A what course? Has that replaced History from the syllabus? Seriously, your headmaster/headmistress should take a long hard look at themselves. I suspect JJB would cover most of it on an induction too..
Bellend Sebastian Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 I know the bloke who's going to be manager at the cinema. That's probably my worst claim to fame ever. Even worse than I'm related to Man Utd's youth team goal keeper
Raj Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 The regeneration in Leicester in principle is great and a unique opportunity for jobs etc... In principle it will generate cash for Leicester and make it vibrant I just hope the planners haven't bitten off more than they can chew. Can Leicester really fill all these new shops, cafes, cofffee houses, multiplex cinemas??? Canl we compete with the likes of Birmingham and Nottingham?? Fcuking better do,else we got shit loads of buildings which will be empty!!!
Rincewind Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 It It'll make other parts of the centre look even shittier. Belgrave Gate and Humberstone Gate comes to mind. Could do with a lick of paint or two. Will the new shops in the shires be affordable to the average person or designed for ones that like to throw money away just for brand names. Will there be a real ale pub?
Ultra Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 Will there be a real ale pub? Good question.. Maybe Wetherspoons will be on the case..

Will there be a real ale pub? probably the latter, if there is stuff like paul smith, ted backer, diesel etc. then it won't be cheap. There is always topman and primark if you dont like spending money on clothes!!
Blue Bob Posted 16 January 2008 Posted 16 January 2008 Personaly I like the look of the new shires, guess they wanted a distinctive look like the Selfridges end of the Bull Ring. I think it is about time we attracted a few more decent stores to the city that we have been missing for years, I see no reason why we cant compete with Birmingham and Nottingham. Just wonder how many people might try to blame the building for crashes, saying the sun reflected off the building and couldnt see where I was going. That was why i crashed into the car at the lights .... it had nothing to do with me putting on lipstick while driving .... officer!!!

davieG Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 Took this picture the other morning (phone so the quality is a bit crap) shows a reflection of the Tax Office on the new John Lewis shop.
Tommy G Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 Im looking forward to a John Lewis in Leicester. And all the decent branded stuff. the only decent shops for branded stuff in Leicester is Pilot and Limeys, trouble is your expected to spend £500 plus when you walk into either shop so it kind of puts you off
Darkzzz_ Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 Wardrobe is the best shop in Leicester by a mile!!!!
Tommy G Posted 14 February 2008 Posted 14 February 2008 Wardrobe is the best shop in Leicester by a mile!!!! Erm....I don't know how to respond to that. deluded?

USC is fine (as in the staff there), but the range can be pretty crap I find...

Trouble with USC is that its full of chavs now. I used to like G star a lot but now I hardley buy anything of it apart from the Jeans, its just too chavvy now. The range has gone downhill aswell like you said, most of the stuff in there is pretty mainstream aswell. Rackhams is decent aswell, got a good allsaints section, Paul Smith, Versace, Hugo Boss etc. Limeys is the best though, at least theres no chavs in there. I've also been given a bottle of Peroni aswell whilst I was in there before christmas, it was 10.30am in the morning though Couldn't resist it!
MPH Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 do we know when the new shires will be open? is it next year sometime?
Benji Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 You can spend millions changing the buildings, but you'll never change the people that go in it
Tommy G Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 You can spend millions changing the buildings, but you'll never change the people that go in it Yes....I agree but you'll get that in every city you visit. I can actually see it being a terrorist target
danny. Posted 15 February 2008 Posted 15 February 2008 for any shopping I prefer to just drive to the south wigston station (4-5 mins away) park for free and get a train directly into the bull ring, £8 return - bargain! Selfridges and debenhams there are great.
