MikeyT Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Hs anybody seen what the new Shires looks like?? People must have if they drive down the dual carriageway where the underpass is! The end of it looks like someone has glued tin foil on it! Am i the ony one that thinks it looks a little too tacky?
danny. Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 I like it, looks very cool and modern. should be nice when it opens, gonna have some shops we have needed for years, ted baker, diesel, etc. that nottingham has had for ages. Also a cinema in there which is a good location.

Yeah i'm looking forward to it opening, especially with the cinema, but i like i said originally, i think it looks like someone has gotten a load of tin foil and glued it on the end!

I haven't seen it but developers today are more interested in how much it will cost to clean annually then aesthetics. I'm sure a structure like you've mentioned will cost considerably less to clean the glass or brick.
MikeyT Posted 15 January 2008 Author Posted 15 January 2008 The 'tin foil' bit is the new cinema. Is it? I didnt know that! Still think it looks dodgy though!
Zingari Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 i suprised that its so visible from different parts of the city ( dunno why ), i can see it easily at the top of beatrice road ; i'm sure i could not see the old buildings
Trav Le Bleu Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Won't people get that confused with the Space Centre?
davieG Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Won't people get that confused with the Space Centre? Or a Chinese take Away for 5000
Head Honcho Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 It actually looks quite impressive from the pic.
danny. Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 looks better in real life than the pic IMHO, i like it, it's quite detailed when you look at it up close.
lavrentis Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 What if a massive array of light was to beam onto it blinding the whole of Leicester.
Tommy G Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Its pretty cool i think. People would only be moaning if it was dull and boring brick. You can never please anyone unfortunately
Unit Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Is it?I didnt know that! Still think it looks dodgy though! Yeah the 'modern' cinema with beanbags and shit like that. The pattern windows bit is the new John Lewis What if a massive array of light was to beam onto it blinding the whole of Leicester. I've asked a few people about this because all my driving lessons go down there, my busses do too, apparently the mirrors are built at angles so as the light can't be reflected into drivers eyes :dunno:
Bert Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Its pretty cool i think.People would only be moaning if it was dull and boring brick. You can never please anyone unfortunately How very true. You can see it from the back of my house., looks weird it being, but when it's done, i think it'll be great.
MikeyT Posted 15 January 2008 Author Posted 15 January 2008 What if a massive array of light was to beam onto it blinding the whole of Leicester. I bet you can see it from space!!
Dames Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Its differant. I like that. Should be open at the end of the year.
Zingari Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 there was nothing wrong with the old picture house, cameo and gaumont cinemas , why were they closed
Unit Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 Won't people get that confused with the Space Centre? Nope, because the shires doesn't look like a fat, ribbed dildo
davieG Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 there was nothing wrong with the old picture house, cameo and gaumont cinemas , why were they closed Because at the time people thought that TV and Video would replace going out, which it did for a while and they were losing money, in hindsight some could probably survive today given that people are now going out more. Not unlike the railwa situation really!
Phube Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 But we're getting a Gourment Burger Restaurant and a Yo! Sushi!!!!! Can't wait!!
Trumpet Posted 15 January 2008 Posted 15 January 2008 I can see it from round the corner of my street. Looks alright i suppose, I'm glad its got a cinema, means i only have to walk round the corner rather than odeon, which is round the corner as well, but further I'm lazy. I'll still probably get the bus..
