James. Posted 9 February 2008 Posted 9 February 2008 ... then DO NOT call for Holloway to be sacked. Maybe we don't need ANOTHER thread but I'm seeing a worrying reaction on here that could spread like a cancer through the club and its fans. Sacking Holloway is not the cure for our problems. It is a knee jerk reaction that is symptomatic of the problems this club has had for too long. We must stick with him, poor decisions or otherwise. And we must have belief that he can turn it around. In my eyes it is absolutely critical he has our unwavering backing. Question his methods, his tactics, his motivation, whatever. But please do not call for his head.
LeeCovFox Posted 9 February 2008 Posted 9 February 2008 Just started a similar thread. No replies. It would seem that there is little interest in supporting our manager tonight. And we wonder why we are in this mess.
Dames Posted 9 February 2008 Posted 9 February 2008 Its all a typical reaction from some people. Though its easy to see why Plymouth fans are calling him a hypocrite. He really needs to turn things around and be more adventurous. Its obvious were not gunna get promotion now so that shadow should be lifted and the team should be allowed to express themselfs instead of hoofing it up to the big men and being scared of not making a mistake.

Tom Riddle Posted 9 February 2008 Posted 9 February 2008 Don t sack him!! Warnock took over Palace around the same time and got them going because its a happy club with a okish chairman . Leicester are just a bad club at the moment(bad chairman) that no amount of money will get them firing again.Would like to say unlucky tonight but you were crap and the best team won. Maybe see you next season?????
Fez of Mahrez Posted 9 February 2008 Posted 9 February 2008 I think we have to ride this season out and start the new one with a clean slate. If Holloway had had a proper pre-season and been in charge of signings in the summer I honestly don't think we'd be in this mess. I do worry though. My main concern is the amount of times he changes formation during a match. It's understandable towards the end of a game as everybody does it but we seem to play players in three different positions in every game. I can't see that it does any good. And if we are so desperate for balance and width, why are we still having to put up with Hayles and Hume on the wings when we have wingers out on loan. It's a frustrating time.

But please do not call for his head. Great post. Who could we possibly get who is any better? Nobody. Yes Ollie got a few things wrong today but we need some stability, not a fourth manager of the season. Stick with him Milan. Maddog, are we still going to the play offs? I think not.
Nationwider Posted 10 February 2008 Posted 10 February 2008 I think we're damned if we do and damned if we don't. There simply isn't enough time, or a suitable, available replacement, to justify sacking Holloway at this (or any) point of the season. We just have to ride this season out - it's squeaky-bum time again. If things don't improve, Holloway will probably only have half a dozen games next season to get his act together before MM pulls the trigger, regardless of which league we're in. I think we'll be relegated. I obviously hope we're not, but I think we will be this time. We've flirted with Ms Relegation for a fair while now, and she tends to get her wicked way in the end. Unlike 05-06 (Brighton, Millwall) and 06-07 (Leeds), there's no real whipping boys that are going to lie down and die Derby County-style. The prime suspects (Colchester, Scunny) are in touch and have the benefit of something we don't - a sense of togetherness and continuity within the squad that could keep them in this wretchedly mediocre league. We really are swirling around that slippery plughole and the experience of Clemence, Oakley, Howard and (dear God) Hayles isn't helping us to get a grip. We don't even have to play particularly badly. We could just bumble on, taking one step forwards and one back (as we have done all season) and then get to May 4 at Stoke away (God, that looked like a piece of piss last August) and shit our collective pants as they go for that 3 points they need for automatic promotion. We look OK on paper. Although, on another piece of paper, you could write "Man City, Forest, Sheff Wed and Leeds" and think that they were all OK too.
TrickyTrev Posted 10 February 2008 Posted 10 February 2008 Not calling for his head, we don't need another manager dealing with players they don't want. I think its quite clear he knows zilch about tactics though. Lets hope his enthusiasm finds its way into the players sharpish or we are fooked.

Players like Clemence and Oakley should never be in this position in this league. But they are and there's no easy way out.

I'm not calling for his head but he's coming out his no leaders comments every week it's ridiculous. Clemence and Oakley both captained promotion winning sides last season, if they're not a leader who is? And if they are, why aren't they doing there job? Or maybe they are and the rest of the players just don't respond? In that case, we're fooked.
Ultra Posted 10 February 2008 Posted 10 February 2008 Holloway is out of his depth, just as Levein and Kelly were before him. It's clear he can neither motivate nor inspire, so he's wasting his time (and ours) with every day he spends in his job. He's nothing more than a poor man's Neil Warnock. But can we trust our clown of a chairman to find anyone better?

Billy Davies is out there, but he would only want to come once our safety is confirmed - if that happens.

The Cov game was yet another false dawn. i blame Milan for not sticking with MA. I can understand your point because when we got Martin Allen, i was happy as owt. A young and up coming manager with the drive to do well. His signings were crap but Milan had alot to do with that. Would we have done well with Allen ? We will never know and it is a shame.

Guest Posted 10 February 2008 Posted 10 February 2008 i blame Milan for not sticking with MA. For the umpteenth time, MA2 was sacked for a reason. It was apparently a justifiable reason, and when we find out what that reason was, we will agree. Besides, from what I can remember, I wasn't left feeling optimistic during his brief stint here; I take it you didn't go to Accrington or to the first Forest game?

MC Prussian Posted 10 February 2008 Posted 10 February 2008 I still wonder what we can do to make the situation better - it's been Groundhog Day ever since we came down the Premiership. No matter what manager or players we had, the past 4 to 5 years have been extremely inconsistent and I wonder what measure there is to sort this bug out. Maybe we should start abducting swapping fans...
Narborough Bod Posted 10 February 2008 Posted 10 February 2008 ... then DO NOT call for Holloway to be sacked.Maybe we don't need ANOTHER thread but I'm seeing a worrying reaction on here that could spread like a cancer through the club and its fans. But please do not call for his head. If he stays we may go down, if he goes we will DEFINITELY go down, with another manger going on about 'not my players', 'when I have my...', 'give me some time...' As for Warnock later in the thread, I hate the man and never wanted him here, complained to the Merc. However, I have no doubt that the players would show more fight if he were here. Stefan freund was also a **** but at least he tried his hardest when he played for us. Maybe we did miss a trick with NW but that's now done and dusted, stick with Holloway..
Koke Posted 10 February 2008 Posted 10 February 2008 I'm sorry but I don't buy the theory that Warnock would have done better here. Palace was in a much better state than we were back then. Peter Taylor was just a knob, that was their main problem. This club stinks and is rotten from top to bottom. If Mr Wenger arrived tomorrow he wouldn't be able to change the club around in X amount of time. The players are good enough. Players such as Clemence, Oakley and Howard don't suddenly become bad players overnight and part of me says we'll be allright come May 4th. Another part of me saying, we've been flirting with Ms Relegation for a bit too long now and she might flip now. And considering Stoke are presumably looking for 3 vital points for their automatic promotion campaign, we do look in deep shit. The fixture list isn't particularly bad. Scunny, Preston, Colchester and Sheffied Wednesday all have to come to our backyard. But hey, that counts for nothing in this division.

Preston and Wednesday both won at the Way last season, and Colchester were unlucky not to do so. None of them will have any fears about playing us.
