Holloway's Future Uncertain

By GT - 12/02/2008 15:39 Leicester City Chairman Milan Manadaric has cast uncertainty on the future of Ian Holloway as club manager.

Ian Holloway took over as manager of Leicester City last November when the team were languishing in 17th place of the Championship. Following defeat to Argyle at the weekend, the Foxes are now in 20th and face the very real prospect of relegation to League One.

On top of this they have two very tough fixtures coming up that could see them slip into the bottom three. They face league leaders Watford and form-team Norwich City.

Leicester City fans are already showing considerable disappointment with the Holloway reign, and today Milan Mandaric also revealed his thoughts.

Manadaric told BBC Radio Leicester today whilst speaking about his first twelve months at the East Midlands club "It feels like 12 years. It's not the easiest year in my life but I am enthusiastic and it's a great opportunity.

"We are not even near where I wanted to be or where I planned to be.

"But I have to keep working on it and surround myself with the people that will help me to get there and you have to look to the big picture."

"I gave my life to this club for the last 12 months, and millions of pounds, and I don't see as good progress as I wanted."

Will Ian Holloway regret leaving Plymouth Argyle? It looks more and more likely. One thing is for sure, the Green Army are happy with their Luggy.

But surely our current position is more down to Milan than Holloway with the early season appointments etc. I dont think Milan is specifically putting Holloway on the spot in that interview just bemoaning all the money he has spent.

IMO its been an uneasy alliance since day 1 at the press conference ,

MM looked ill at ease with IH's disrespectful attitude ( towards MM) and at the time i thought at the time that IH would have to do very very well on the field to keep his job , this is obviously not happening and i really believe the sword of damocles is hanging over him right now

2-3 more bad results and i believe he will cut the thread

MM is not stupid enough to know that if he gets rid of another one fans will want him gone so bad just for the stability of the club. And we can hardly go back to before as MM will sell to another rich businessman (a PLC can hardly afford to buy it from Milan can it?)

MM asked, what is his best and worst decision made at the club ?

replied

the best decision i made for this club was to take this club over

the worst decision i made for this club was to take this club over

:(

when asked about his relationship with IH he only says he gets on with him "professionally", i'm pretty sure IH's cards are marked

If MM gets rid of IH in the next few games then it's MM that should go.

90% of the clubs woes lie at his impatience/inability to work with others.

Stabilty would have counted for a lot for us this season.

People want MM to go too.

Having read the article, I don't see how they can come to that conclusion, it's just spin  .

If he sacks Holloway after this ammount of time in charge, no one will want to manage the club. Milan needs patience, although that's something that modern clubs don't have.

If we lose the next 2/3 games, people will be calling for Ollie to be sacked anyway.

And no matter what, there will be plenty of people (not necessarily any good!) who will want to manage us

(Hopefully it wont come to that though.)

Yes but given that MM's not going to sack himself, I think Holloway's treading on increasingly thin ice.

Of course MM's been part of the problem - there were perhaps handful of us who always thought that would be the case - and I'm not sure he wouldn't accept a decent offer now in all the cirumstances.

Put it this way he did once remark that if he failed with his three-year programme he'd accept it and go, or words to that effect.

He's not failed yet but, since he arrived I've never had the feeling that everyone was clamouring to play for or to manage Leicester.

If I'm honest sticking with Holloway might be his best option but it's not one I'm thrilled about.

We certainly needed stability this season but it soon became clear we were never going to get it and altogether the whole campaign has been an even worse mess than the previous year under Kelly and the time before that under Levein.

At least they had an excuse for signing ordinary or poor players. Some who've arrived this season have been an embarrassment.

If Holloway's position worsened and I had to make another change this season I really would go for stability and stick with people who know the club inside out - Beaglehole/Stowell and Taggart because relegation would be a real possibility.

Beaglehole had helped build something, Stowell I'm convinced would like to continue playing in the Beaglehole vein and Taggart knows what it's like to be in a successful City team although he's dreadlfully inexperienced on the management/coaching side.

It's not what I expect to happen. With Dowie waiting in the wings, MM might just see the perfect opportunity to start the City funfair Carousel turning yet again.

Certainly the quotes failed to offer Holloway a single crumb of comfort.

You're right, there will always be people who want to manage Leicester. However, I doubt it, in fact I'm sure none of them will be as good as Ollie.

If he sacks Holloways he's a noob.

I dont think he will tbh.

He knows he lost alot of support after the MA fiasco(even though he was right to let him go)

If he sacked Ollie(UNLESS we fans started baying for his blood) he will know he would have lost the fans.

Also in response to Thracs comments,i think IF a decent offer came in for the Club MM would definately listen to it,as this year has definetely not gone to his plans and if an offer came in which made him money then i think he'd listen.

If he DOES fail with his 3 year plan do you just think he will walk away??

NO way will he.
