Durnerz Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 Yesterday, for those who didn't watch the Man Utd vs Arsenal game, Nani when United were 4-0 up began to balance the ball on his head and then play a spot of keepy-uppy on the run towards his own goal before spinning his marker and earning a throw in. I cannot believe on Sky Sports News when I flicked it on this morning they have Glenn 'the twat' Hoddle on whinging about how you should only do it if theres an end product and David 'shit spouter' Platt asked on his opinion of it, why is it even the topic of discussion? Is this not what we as fans go to watch? You see how much the game has died when you hear 'debates' like this, theres nothing to debate about IMO. Thoughts?

If anything i think that we should see alot more of this in the game. Yes it is what the fans want to see. I love it when a player does this sort of thing, there are alot of videos on youtube of Top players showing off their skills but you hardley ever see them showing them off in a game situation.
Matt Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 I know it's stupid, Just because Arsenal lost, and lost the way they did, and then threw their toys out the pram like they always do when their losing. Whatever next? Banning the Showboat feature on Soccer AM because showboating during games is banned? Ronaldo getting sent off every week for showboating? Everyone knows I hate Arsenal, Some could say what i'm about to say is bias, BUT if it was Man Utd v Leicester yesterday and Nani did that would there even be a debate about it? I think the answer would most probably be no, I'm almost certain of it, just the fact it's Arsenal theirs a big crying debate about it. Showboating - Part and parcel of the game.
the_bowman Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 It's great, it's what the fans like, it's entertaining and it gives the players a chance to really have some fun. I love it. I love it even more when they get clattered
lcfc_jme Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 I thought it was hilarious, especially given the quality of the opposition it was done against and the fact they never looked like taking the ball off of him! The treatment he got after it was disgusting though - plenty of kicks after the ball from Gallas in particular. I think Flamini would have snapped his leg had he connected with the player on that challenge.
Floating Fox Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 Agreed mate I can't believe they're having a debate about it. Pleat doesn't deserve an opinion anyway. Cu^t.
sdb Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 he'd earnt the right to do it, played well, 4-0 up against title rivals. it's entertaining and he'll be a marked man when they meet in the league too. all good, exciting stuff. it's hardly a topic worthy of debate but when you've got 24 hour tabloid sports channels with little to talk about you're gonna get it.
sdb Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 as for david platt, he is the thickest person alive when talking about football. how he was such a good player i'll never know.
Alexikokopops Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 Do they have nothing else to talk about?
Simi Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 What is football coming to? Disgusting. Arsenal are the biggest sore losers around and it really did shine yesterday. Well done Nani, more of that please.
Samilktray Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 Nice to see Arsenal receive a good old spanking.
potter3 Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 Wasn't there the same results when Ronaldo (I think) did the same sort of thing last year?
lookwhaticando Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 David 'shit spouter' Platt asked on his opinion of it Pleat doesn't deserve an opinion anyway. Cu^t. Well yeah, obviously... but what's Pleat got to do with it? Actually, what's Pleat got to do with anything?
Simi Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 Wasn't there the same results when Ronaldo (I think) did the same sort of thing last year? If it was Ronaldo doing it yesterday the Press would be all over him.
Koke Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 I'm sure the lot of you would've wacked the oppostion player if it was ever done to you. Regardless of how entertaining it is, it is kind of disrespectful. Do it in testemonial games or friendlies or whatever. I just found it a tad bit disrespectful in such a game regardless the score and opposition. But I am in no way excusing William Gallas or Flamini's behaviour in kicking the lad all over the place. That was disgraceful.
filbertway Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 What's wrong with what he did, I'm not even sure why I've added anything. This is like commenting on someone dribbling to the corner flag.
Darkzzz_ Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 I have no problem with his showboating whilst playing.... who cares.... each player is different.... i would be more concerned if i was Alex Ferguson and Nani was doing them silly celebrations.... They have Injurys written all over them...!!!
Corky Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 I really have no time for Arsenal, they play good football yes, but they, and their supporters, are far too arrogant. I can't stand Fabregas, especially after what he said about Mark Hughes, a true legend. They are just a bunch of thugs who can't tkae defeat, and Wenger winds me up something rotten "Oh I didn't see it!". Eboue's challenge was disgraceful, and Gallas kicking out was so petulant. Really hope AC show them up in the European Cup.
Koke Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 We've seen far worse tackles than the one Eboue did. Yes it wasn't pretty, but Motson & Lawro were milking it.

Mikey Posted 17 February 2008 Posted 17 February 2008 It is stupid to have a debate about it. It is part of the game that players like Nani will play. After the game the interviewer said to Wenger .'It appeared that your team was incensed by Nani juggling the ball.' Then Wenger goes, 'Yes, and rightly so. It is one thing when you are getting beat 4-0 but another when they are just playing.' Made me laugh , Wan*er
