12/13 games left so its way too early to draw conclusions about who's going and who's not.

Posted

worryingly our away form is complete dogshite at the mom- we used to be able to rely on the odd 0-0 or a surprise occasional 1-0 , now when we go behind you just know we will end up losing the game

Posted

Nobody ever thought we'd beat Palace and Norwich but we did. We'll have games like those and we'll have games like Blackpool and Plymouth.

I'm still confident for some reason.

The worst thing about it is that we shouldn't even be having this conversation!

What an anti-climax and a frustrating 1st year under Milan it has been!! :frusty:

The only shining light in all of this, other than the plymouth game we have been better at home recently.

We have 6 winnable games at home, we just have to hope we win them.

It doesn't look too worrying to be honest, there are some fixtures where we could get something - if I was a Southampton fan I'd be far more worried.

I was about to say the same thing, they need to be seriously looking over thier shoulders. Wolves, Blackpool, Hull, Cardiff, Charlton and West Brom all away are going to be difficult for them and they only have 2 home games, Leicester and Coventry when they should be thinking a definate home win.

It's probably blind faith but I think we'll be alright, I just think that we've got a performance in us every now and agin which will just about keep our head above water and plus our goal-difference could be crucial. I feel more confident of us picking up wins against Bristol City and Hull then Colchester and S****horpe.

We'll be alright stop over reacting again.

For the past 3 seasons people have started worrying around this time and this place has been a pessimists paradise.

Just chill out and watch it all unfold. We always end up staging a late run and being quite safe. I believe we still have the quality to do that.

Definately!!! Plus they have been playing awful! I also think their manager is very poor!!! In fact im now going to my bookies and have a tenner on them to go down!! With S****horpe and Colchester!

As for us its all about the home form!! i said this when we had 10 home games left i thought they were all winnable which has basically come true so far except Plymouth!!!

You dont know anywhere near how happy that would make me!!!

But they wont go down because theyll end up pulling something out of the bag. To be honest i dont think we will either but i suppose you never know

The thing that worries me is the away game situation i hate being negative but i can only see us winning one away game and that is Barnsley apart from that i think we are going to have to rely on our home form

It'd take something damn special - they've cashed in on their best players, the fixtures are tough, their results have been in freefall and Pearson is a poor manager and I can't see a Kelvin Davies wondergoal on the cards for him.

It is going to be so so tricky to survive this season. In the last 2 seasons there have been 3 under performing teams, who have each got little points. Southend 42 points Luton 40 points Leeds 36 points made up the bottom 3 last season. 43 points enough to survive.

The previous season Crewe 42 points Millwall 40 points Brighton 38 points made up the drop zone, conincidently 43 points enough for survival again. The teams 1 place above the drop zone in those 2 seasons, where we could easily finish were well ahead, Hull City 7 points ahead of the drop last season, QPR 8 points ahead in the previous.

This shows those bottom 3 teams were not miles away from survival, but certainly not a short way either.

This season it's a lot different. It's one of the closest i have ever seen, in the relegation and promotion races, anyone can beat anyone. This is bad for a side like us in a relegation battle, good for sides in the promotion battle.

The winners of the Championship this season, look set to get, at the very maximum, 86 points. And Stoke who are top now, will have to average 2 points a game for the final 12 to reach that 86 point total.

Last season all of the top 3 got well over 80 points, and the winners Sunderland a massive 88 points.

Last, last season A HUGE 110 points for winners Reading, 90 points for 2nd place and 80 points or more for 3rd and 4th!

So the winners of the Championship this year are going to seriously struggle to achieve the points the top sides got in 2 seasons before.

It's very likely the winners of the League this year get 80-85 points

This leaves us in a right fine mess. Cardiff away is a draw at best realistically, Preston is certainly a must win, as WBA away and Southampton away are certain loses for me. Bristol game who knows? Possibly a draw although we beat them away so can't predict that.

The 3 sides in the zone this season now look almost certainly to get miles over 43 points which would have kept you in this division in the last 2 seasons, they all have around 1 point a game so far and lets say they all get 1 point a game in their remaining fixtures, a fair prediction considering the results they are picking up, then we would need 48 points to survive. Another 11 points.

We may need slightly less than 48 if the bottom 3 currently totally collaspe in their last few games, which for me just won't happen. It is extremely likely we will need 50+ points to survive, they will be fighting hard, i see no fight in us.

The next 5 games for me, will give us at very best, 5 points. They may prove me wrong, but i just can't see us getting anything at WBA and Southampton.

This leaves us with just 7 games to go. Theres no doubt we are in serious trouble. And have spent so much money.

What seemed like good decisions at the time, i.e. loaning out the youngsters to give them games, releasing certain players may have totally backfired.

Im sure Ollie at the time feels like he is making good decisions, dropping certain players.

But for me, we could sure use, Shush!, Hayes, King, Weso, A Chambers. Even Kaebi and De Vries, especially De Vries for me, deserved more of a chance this season.

Ollie has put all his hope in his new signings, and chucked aside any options we may have if the new signings fail.

I know these are good players, but if you look at it negativly we have signed 2 Premiership rejects from the worst team in the Premier division. Signings before Ollie, 2 more Premiership rejects from one of the bottom clubs in the Premier division.

Derby have acccepted relegation, and expect promotion from the Championship next season. So why haven't they kept Howard and Oakley, for that Championship promotion push? Jewell would keep them if they were good enough to promote a team from the Championship surely? It seems to me they are not good enough for Derby, but good enough for Leicester.

These players for me should be good enough to easily save us from relegation but they are not playing football, perhaps they are not as great as they seemed.

The main facts are though, that if the players don't perform and we lose, it's their fault.

If the players just aren't good enough, it's Ollie's fault for signing them.

If the players are good enough, Ollie just isn't motivating, wrong tactics etc its his fault.

Ultimately, if the manager isn't good enough, has erased all our options of the youngsters who will desperately want to play for the shirt, and spent money on players who are slowly going down the slope....

It's Milan's fault for appointing that manager. Everyone has a part in this but if we go down, it's the man at the top who should have sorted it out, and no matter how much money he has, Milan Mandaric will be to blame if we end up in League1

On a positive note there is a Premiership team in a worser position than us, Newcastle. 2 points in 5 Prem games under Keegan, if they continue that sort of form, they will be joining us in the Championship next season, if we survive.

I want the players to show Jewell he has made a mistake selling them to us, and if we play Derby next season Howard and Oakley are instrumental in doing the double over Derby, so they end up missing out on promotion

If we don't get at least nine points from those four home games against the bottom four then we're down. :frusty:

The problem is given our record against sides at home that are in the bottom three over the past four years they are going to be our toughest fixtures.

You are absolutely right here in your deductions. I'd wager that we'd need to win all four though. MUST win all four.

Let's face it though, should we lose any of those games, we deserve to go down.

And as a side question, any ideas on when pricing will be released for next season's season tickets?

Bout as much chance of knowing as us coming back and winning from 1-0 down.

There is plenty to play for and with the help of Kaebi and Cort and the guidance of Martin Allen, we can still get to the play-offs never mind relegation scraps.

Im still on the optimistic bus lol
