Hendrie Signs

I feel even more despondent than I did before.

If they played for anyone else apart from Leicester City a midfield comprising Hendrie, Clemence and Oakley (and Gradel on the other wing) should take the piss out of this league.

Although reading through the comments on that Blades forum makes me wonder what exactly we're doing signing him. Going on my current feelings towards Holloway this sounds to me like a "he's got quality and played for England once therefore he must be good" as opposed to a balanced decision taken on current form.

We need players in FORM for the next few weeks. Not a player who thinks he's better than he is and has had, by all accounts, a crap season so far.

Underwhelmed.

Desperation - no one in Form would want to come to this stinking ship!

Interesting signing. Not sure what to make of this. He was a good player a few seasons ago for villa. Then he leaves for Sheffield United. Why would they let him go if he was any good?

At the end of the day even if he does well for us Sheffield United will just have him back at the end of the season.

Having a utility drinker is awesome.

This man can drink and shag in any midfield position, has the potential to sleep with his bosses daughter and at some point was a damn average footballer.

Quit your moaning until you've seen him drive on the M40 will yah?

He's exactly what this dressing room needs.

Since Levi Porter and Elvis Hammond have been injured, the lads who have been playing have lost touch with the drinking/shagging/fried chicken eating/cu nting about mentality.

Leicester's nightclubs and ropey takeaways are struggling.

Lee Hendrie will re-establish that link.

Sponsored by Chicken Cottage.

I am so relieved and delighted in equal measure.

I fully expected this to be another one of those shit threads showing a sign with the word Hendrie on it.

Humour isn't what it used to be...or at least it wasn't until we signed this joker.

I'm not gonna judge him yet when he hasnt even kicked a ball for us.

Hope he does well here.

Pople were moaning about Clapham when he signed before he even kicked a ball for us, but i personally think he has done a steady job for us since arriving. So lets hope Hendrie can be just as good if not better!

City boss Ian Holloway said: "...he...can unlock a door for us. He will help the team."

Anyone got a clue as to;

a. Where this door leads?

b. How will it help the team?

c. What is so special about Lee Hendrie that he can 'unlock a door'? Was he a locksmith in a previous life?

d. Is it the door to the cupboard where we keep our spare ankles?

e. Is it the door to the Trophy Room that hasn't been opened for years now?

Obviously the negativity is tongue in cheek....

...err... :unsure::whistle::P

That said - he spurned us to go off to the Blades and has achieved the fat sum of nothing while there - and I'm not going to hold my breath waiting for him to prove his worth now.

I predict within 1 month, he'll have been so bad that LCFC will be pretending he has an (ankle) problem.

Jesus people the negativity in this area is abismal atm, this is a quality signing. If the blokes up for it, then he will save us, he the qaulity and the exeperiance to lead us forward. you dont just lose qaulity just like that, he just needs some conidence and some games, he hasnt played much at all this season, how can you expect a player to be on "FORM" when your in and out of the sqaud, its so hard to make a impact on a game when you come on with ten minutes left. Hendrie is a qaulity player, and i think the bloke will do well, your all slating him before hes even put the shirt on for god sake, its radiculous, a few games and hel find his touch again.

I remember in the summer alot of people wanted him to come here, he was awesome and a major part of stokes success last season they were unlucky not to get into the play-offs in the end. The bloke needs games which he hasnt been getting at Sheff U because they think their some supreme team.

Im optimistic about him, i cheered when i saw we'd signed him, the first thing iv cheered about for a while.

Il go as far as saying that if he doesnt make a difference to our team then i will stay completely sober for the whole summer.

Don't get me wrong, he's quality.

I just can't see how he fits to be honest, unless he's going to play down the left.

Oakley and Clemence are MORE than capable. It's the fu cking system.

How many goals have we created lately :dunno: I think Ollie is just trying to give us more attacking depth, Oakley and Clemence are both long ball players (im not saying hoof, i mean long ball as in deep crosses and balls across the back four etc) Hendrie offers a bit of attacking flair, something a bit different.

However the way Ollie was talking it sounded like He might be playing on the wings. He played there Villa a few times and did ok. He's alot like Barry in some ways can play in the centre or out wide, i just think he adds an attacking flair and will run at players, this is something we have needed for a while. Last player i saw/heard about running at a player and beating him in a city was Johnny Hayes against Blackpool in the first game of the season.

Wherever he plays, i think he adds something a bit different, and i think he will be the key to getting our "Well Known" team playing to their respected "Levels" rather then one hundred miles below par.

They aren't long ball players.

They never have been elsewhere!

They seem to be here. Have they driven at the defense? but hey i cant argue iv only been to two games this season, and barbers commentary is shocking.

All im saying is i think Hendrie offers something a bit different, someone who will drive at the defense.

We should've gone for Lee Hughes when he got out of prison if we wanted someone to drive at the defence. He'll do that, clatter in and then drive off

:crylaugh: It was bad, but made me laugh.

Hendrie will do just fine, even if he plays left wing.

Hendrie-Oakley-Clemence-Bori

Thats a midfield of dreams, if only they could work together and play like a team.

Hume- Howard

Hendrie-Oakley-Clemence-Bori

Mattock-Kisnorbo-N'Gotty-Stearmen

Alnwick

 We will win saturday, i cant put money on it though cus im skint.
