Ozwin Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 I havn't listened to the game as I've been out but considering we won how'd he do? Did he play a part in the win or did he hide in the shadows.
MikeyT Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 I havn't listened to the game as I've been out but considering we won how'd he do? Did he play a part in the win or did he hide in the shadows. According to Walshy just now, he played really well!
Stuliasz Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 I wouldn't read a lot into what you hear on the radio. Wait until people are back and we get some ratings.
STUHILL Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 Showed his quality today and worked hard from what Walshie said, not an out and out winger but definately added something to the win. Smart loan signing so far.
Unabomber Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 Started very well from what I heard, tired towards the latter stages but that is expected seeing as he has rarely featured for Sheff U, sounded alot more solid that the two hungarians. Good signing IMO as he has some experience and can play left right or centre.
SemperEadem Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 He sounded very solid. A very good performance from him.
Master Fox Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 Hopefully someone who went to the game will be able to provide a decent analysis soon.
Thracian Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 Excellent start considering. Walshie mentioned his vision and one thing's for sure, he was likely to represent an improvement on what we've had there. Reading the Sheffield fans' comments on his performances for them I was sceptical but last year, when he went to Stoke the first time, I felt he was just the sort of player we needed and it sounds as if it was that Hendrie who turned up. There's no question Hendie's a quality footballer. It just remains to be seen how much he's got left in the tank and how much the game still means to him. But I'd guess he'll be rating 7 to 7.5 when the travelling fans return.

I think Ollie got it spot on when he said he is a player that can unlock doors for us. He could be a massive boost, and already sounds a better option than the inexperienced Hungarians.
purpleronnie Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 Hopefully we'll keep buying class players rather than numpties, there must be loads of premiership players available for loads, man u, arsenal etc,,I think our scouts are pretty poor.
dog_4 Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 mendieta and graveson are not wanted now tht wud be ace
MikeyT Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 mendieta and graveson are not wanted now tht wud be ace Highly highly unlikely mate!!!
Flynny Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 Jarrett had a decent first game did he not? (sorry) I think he's 10 times the player, but I also think that this performance will be his best if it was as good as they made out.
Bert Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 True. How many players have we had that have apparently played well in their first game and then gone off the boil? Jarrett, Lazcko....
Stevosevic Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 True. How many players have we had that have apparently played well in their first game and then gone off the boil? Jarrett, Lazcko.... Probably a different situation though. Hendrie is proven at this level and has played most of his career in the Premiership. Players like Jarrett never excited the fans or made us feel he would add quality, Lazcko was an unknown quantity, he could have gone either way - unfortunately he has gone the wrong way.
Thracian Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 True. How many players have we had that have apparently played well in their first game and then gone off the boil? Jarrett, Lazcko.... Being fair to Hendrie he's already proved his pedigree which is more than ccould be said for Jarrett and Laczko and the only question is whether he still has the enthusiasm for the game, whether he steers clear of injury and whether he adopts the right attitude. If those things all click I'd have to worries about him but the recent evidence has put question marks against that and it really does remain to see which Hendrie we get. With Laczko I wouldn't start to put him the same bracket as Hendrie and he would appear to have one hell of a lot to learn in a very short time. Quite why we never seem to have properly researched such players I've no idea.
Flynny Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 True. How many players have we had that have apparently played well in their first game and then gone off the boil? Jarrett, Lazcko.... Mark Yeates as well. I agree with the posts since though, he's a lot less likely to turn out poor, especially as left-wing is probably his weakest position and he could yet have chance to play elsewhere, especially at home where him on the right with Lackzco on the left and Hume up front might be worth a punt.
Guest shearfox Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 Laczko may not be up to it yet but he has never played in England before, foreigners have come to this country before and not looked impressive but have gone on to do well after that first year. I have seen enough of Laczko to know he does have quality and will become a good player when the team around him starts to play more positively and keep the ball on the ground. I'm glad Hendrie as come in though because we can't really wait for Laczko to settle so we needed some one that we knew could do a job.
Alexikokopops Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 Fez, Mablo and 'Kokopops opinion: Played well today. Got a knack for playing accurate passes with the outside of his right boot. Definitely a better option than Lackszozososisdo. Always offered an option, confident turning inside and passing instead of having to run at players. Likes to offer the short option at corners (har har)

But sounds like he's proved me wrong. He's got to keep it up though, come on Lee.
Alexikokopops Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 Fez, Mablo and 'Kokopops opinion: Ah, Lee Hendrie!
lildave3 Posted 1 March 2008 Posted 1 March 2008 Neat touches, comfortable on the ball. I was pleased. Only problem is that he has to get the ball on his right foot before crossing, but if Clapham provides the help like he did today then even that might not be a problem.
Simi Posted 2 March 2008 Posted 2 March 2008 I was very pleased with him, especially given my skeptic reaction when he signed. Stuck to his position well and got himself in decent positions inside when he had the chance. Some tidy touches and passing. Hopefully he can keep that up in the future.

I think he looks a very steady player, one who can produce the goods for us. Let's just hope it's not a one off performance. His passing looks pretty neat and tidy and his general play was pleasing yesterday.
