Are white working class people ignored in Britain?

Singh, I'm interested in your comment about Gandhi being a racist, could you explain?

Not wanting to sound ignorant, just unawareof the history and that was a perception of the man.

In Short, he wouldn't outlaw the caste system\descrimination, wouldn't allow his son to marry a different race, betrayed non hindu's including the sikhs, he made various racist comment s against blacks during his time in south africa (he often called blacks Kafir which is an racist insult, and his views on Hitler (his aryan brother) were alittle contraversial.

This notion of Gandhi defeating the brits with non violence is bollocks, gandhi\India paid the British $50 million for there freedom, and India at the time was in turmiol with the ensuing partition and religious violence, Britian were skint form WW II and could not control India, so they offered Gandhi a chance to be a supreme hero and inturn got cash and there allegience! The fact that India could have gained freedom in 1918, where Britian was at it's weakest after WW I is a testament to Gandhi, who refused to be part of the freedom movement because he was not at the forefront of the movement, instead he came out with....'I refuse to gain freedom with violence,' and refuted all attempts and even called the legendary freedom fighter Bhagat Singh a traitor and would not intervene on his hanging, but amazingly due to Bhagat Singhs popularity began calling him a national hero, after his hangin ofcourse. He was a shrewd politician, af the highest cunningness

Below are some exerpts on Gandhi's racist views:

GANDHI ON BLACKS AND RACE RELATIONS

• “A general belief seems to prevail in the colony that the Indians are little better, if

at all, than the savages or natives of Africa. Even the children are taught to

believe in that manner, with the result that the Indian is being dragged down to

the position of a raw Kaffir.”

»Reference: The Collected Works of Mahatma Gandhi, Government of India (CWMG), Vol I, p. 150

• Regarding forcible registration with the state of blacks: “One can understand the

necessity for registration of Kaffirs who will not work.”

»Reference: CWMG, Vol I, p. 105

• “Why, of all places in Johannesburg, the Indian Location should be chosen for

dumping down all the Kaffirs of the town passes my comprehension...the Town

Council must withdraw the Kaffirs from the Location.”

»Reference: CWMG, Vol I, pp. 244–245

• His description of black inmates: “Only a degree removed from the animal.” Also,

“Kaffirs are as a rule uncivilized - the convicts even more so. They are troublesome,

very dirty and live almost like animals.” - Mar. 7, 1908

»Reference: CWMG, Vol VIII, pp. 135-136

To the British during WWII: “This manslaughter must be stopped. You are losing; if

you persist, it will only result in greater bloodshed. Hitler is not a bad man.”

»Reference: G.D. Birla’s “In the Shadow of the Mahatma”, p. 276

The Durban Post Office

One of Gandhi's major "achievements" in South Africa was to promote racial segregation by refusing to share a post office door with the black natives.

Sergeant Major Gandhi

Learn how Gandhi became a Sgt. Major in the British Army and eagerly participated in the 1906 British war against the black Zulus.

Gandhi and South African Blacks

Gandhi wrote extensively about his experiences with the blacks of South Africa. He always termed them "Kaffirs" and his writings reveal a deep-seated disdain for these African natives.

I went for a job interview about a year ago (i wont name the place) and in the room there was to be a big group interview and tasks we had to do as a group to see how we got on. I was the only white face in the room out of 10 people. There was 5 asians and 4 blacks. 3 of the blacks who had only been in the country within 2 years prior to the interview and could barely speak English and admitted that.

To cut a long story short I had 3 years previous experience in the role i was applying for whereas the others had none. I know this because we all had to talk about ourselves and relevant experience regarding this position. I recieved a letter stating i had been unsuccessful.

When going back into the establishment some time after, i happened to see 3 of the other people from my interview who had got the jobs and 2 of them could barely string a sentence of English together.

Does it annoy me? Yes

Is it unfair? Yes

Are these people to blame? No

Im not racist in the slightest and i feel that everyone deserves a fair go in life but it seems to me that more and more foreign people are here, taking jobs that other people from ENGLAND are clearly qualified for. I dont blame the people coming over here for this, as they are only looking for a better life than they have in their original countries. I blame the government for letting all these people in to this country. We are a tiny Island! When are they going to learn!!!

I could name plenty of other instances that i have come across or that people i know have experienced, but i feel i have made my point to a certain degree!

I'm fed up of being taxed to the hilt. Council tax, water, gas, electric, petrol, food, housing etc all going up way out of line with my wages.

Knowing if I lose my job no fecker will help me because i've been good and saved a bit of money.... yet lazy feckers who don't want to do anything get it handed to them on a plate.

I'm sick and tired of left wingers preaching to us and forcing things upon us. Just so they can tick the diversity box on their forms. So what is you don't have that many ethnic/women police officers, just get the best people for the job.

So what is the proms aren't "inclusive"... do they not sell tickets to ethnics? Yes they do!!! They don't go because it's not their thing. Just like going to a bangra festival isn't mine. Doesn't mean they have to play a bit of bloody oasis to make me feel "included".

As a white middle class male of 28... I certainly do feel like nobody particularly gives a flying fook what I think or If I feel "included" or whether my rights are infringed.

Everything you mentioned there applies to all of us working class people, regardless gender and race.

The suttle difference is that the traditional English/British customs are being denigrated as non-inclusive whilst the 'ethnic' population are encouraged and often 'supported' to introduce their non-inclusive customs :dunno: . That's not to say they are to blame as is often the case it's the interfering busybodies.

It always makes me smile when football crowds are consider too 'white' yet no one say's anything about the predominantly white middle/upper class Rugby Union crowd.

Some of it does... some of it doesn't.... it was a general rant.

Why are we talking about working class people?

Shouldn't we just ignore them?

As long as they keep working long hours, I don't see the problem. Our economy needs a good prop. You should feel a certain amount of pride (but keep fairly quiet about it).

Even the Attenboroughs weren't born in Leicester.
Look not many famous people were... we have to lay claim to as many as we can. :D

We got a statue of Richard III. He was only passing through and look what happened to him! :o

Most people take there information about immigration from the tabloids, unfortunately its always one sided and dosent portray how many great things the immigrant community do, so I feel most peoples opinion isnt based on reality.

So to answer the question...no.

I can't speak for other but this is the reality for me.

I went to the doctors last Monday and walked into a surgery with maybe 40 people in it and I was one of half a dozen white faces!

Or to put it another way 85% of the people waiting to see a doctor were not white.

This is the reality for me in Newport, a city without a large ethnic population, so god knows what it's like elsewhere.

I personally have no axe to grind but for many out there who do this sort of thing is all they need!

May I ask what your point is? :dunno:
