stez Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 how was it for you? at a glance i'm probably worse off, mainly due to the fact that higher food, heating and car costs (not including the lower price of new cars these days, which people who say it's cheaper to run a car, do, actually include in their calculations) couple that with the fact any benefits has been put off until 2009. thank you darling.

Master Fox Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 The budget is always sh*t for me. This country is just one big stinking rip off gash hole.
Dr The Singh Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 The budget is always sh*t for me. This country is just one big stinking rip off gash hole. Not mcuh to be happy about, abit more child benefit, although the cost of chid care is extortionate, so it doesn't really balance out. No matter, I was born in poverty and probably die in poverty, roll on poverty!!!
davieG Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 I'm worse off with the removal of the 10p tax band. It's amazing how they can introduce these measures on the back of ticker tape, banner waving social change and yet remove them so soon after without the blink of an eye. Some of the most hypocritical, patronising, up there own arse, self possessive, egotistical, two faced, cowardly bunch of the nicest people you could ever wish death upon!
Jon the Hat Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 The usual pointless, theiving crap you expect from this Government. And you should have seen the smug gits chuckling away as Cameron pointed out the things they failed to mention, including the reality that people face on a day to day basis or a real inflation on their living costs of more like 9%.

The Tories will be back it seems. God help us.
Webbo Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 I'll be getting a pamphlet from my accountant either tomorrow or Friday explaining the changes, which I'll no doubt put straight in the bin. I don't understand it all and it's no good worrying about things you can't change.
Jon the Hat Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 The Tories will be back it seems. God help us. I can't wait. Fed up with paying so much tax and seeing nothing but waste.
LeeCovFox Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 Last time they were in we saw less tax. We saw less of everything, including giving a shit about those who voted for them. It is the Tory way.
Tomassi Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 not being funny, but did we really have the problems we have today 15 years ago? i think not! fkn labour

davieG Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 Hobson's Choice! It's a choice between being stab in the heart or shot
LeeCovFox Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 The two main political parties these days are almost impossible to tell apart. Vote for Labour: You will be anally raped but they will tell you that they love you afterwards. Vote Conservative: You will be anally raped, they will make no secret of the fact that they are going to do it, or pretend that they care after the event.

Matt Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 Forget - Don't drink and drive. More like - Don't drink OR drive.
Maybes Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 Oh wait they are deferring an extra 2p duty on petrol until october woopdie fukn doo...do they want some sort of medal?! Petrol duty tax is a joke as it is. Prices rising and toping the 110p mark. I hate the labour government so much
Tommy G Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 A dull and predictable budget from the Chancellor. The country's money reserves are drying up so the government is forced to Tax the two things consumers use the most: Cars & Booze. With shrinking Economic growth in the UK due to the borrowing issues in America the Government is now worrying. When labour took over they inherited a healthy and growing economy which Brown exploited perhaps too much and now were paying the price. With almost two billion pounds being shipped out the economy to other countries by immigrants is contributing to the economic slow down. I'm think perhaps a slight loosening of fiscal policy would have given the economy a boost, maybe a return of keynesianism during this global slowdown? Although the current national debt and PSNCR don't give alot of room for manouvre especially if we're supposed to be converging to the Euro economic cycle! 11p on a packet of fags? Is he having a laugh!!

Annoyed about car tax however my car is in a low band so hopefully will not affect me too much. Don't get me wrong - it's good but I was hoping for a lot more than that. If your paying 5.20 for a packet then 11p won't be any barrier to keep buying. However stick a pound on then it might. The government darent though - because the excise duty on the fags more than covers for anyone who has treatment on the NHS due to a smoking related illness. What car do you drive then if it's low band?

Bryn Posted 12 March 2008 Posted 12 March 2008 At least I'll have got rid of my car by October, fooking bitch that rise though. I'm sure I read they other day that they're looking at ways to measure how far people travel and actually tax the miles a car does ON TOP of the petrol taxation? That really would sting. Also, £2bn on the Military... fook me. Also, a reduction in corporation tax? I'm quite uneducated about all this, does that actually mean that big companies, as well as little ones, will be paying far less?
