No Heskey

Not surprised, he's having injections to get through the rest of the season at Wigan I think.

Where's Steven Taylor, injured? He's not in the u-21's either is he?

Good to see Wheater in there imo. Too many midfielders though, they'll be cut down surely.

My sentiments exactly, its always good to see players make there debuts, i still remember Ugo Ehiogu scoring on his

I do get a little worried looking at our striking options to be honest. Although Defoe has hit a bit of form lately he never seems to be able to carry that through for England.

it definately will be interesting. im living with pompey and spurs fans at the moment, so defoe has been a hot topic. I do think Harry has got the best out of him and having a good run in the squad just shows what he's capable of. Both my Spurs housemates said that they recogn he was the best finisher they had, but since he wasnt getting the games he wanted to move.

I never was the beggist fan of him while he was at Spurs, he never really did a lot for them or England, although my opinion is starting to change, i just hope he can perform at the highest level should he be given a good chance

Robinson out of the squad completely - good move.

Wes Brown  Good to see Wheater in there.

Owen should not be there, I know 2/3 very big Newcastle fans and they say that if he had taken the chances he's had and was playing the same way he was at Liverpool then he would have about 14 goals in 7 games!

IIRC the commentators last night said he was the player with the most appearences this season for united alongside Rio, and they have only had 15 goals scored against them this season!

England coach Fabio Capello has dropped Tottenham's Jermaine Jenas after reducing his squad from 30 to 23 ahead of Wednesday's friendly in France.

Gabriel Agbonlahor, Ashley Young, Shaun Wright-Phillips, David Wheater and Jermain Defoe are also out, while Scott Carson and Matthew Upson are injured.

Tottenham goalkeeper Paul Robinson comes in to replace Carson.

David Beckham retains his place in the squad and could get the chance to win his 100th England cap in Paris.

Jenas scored the opening goal of Capello's reign in the friendly win over Switzerland last month, while Wright-Phillips got the winner.

Shame, I thought Jenas was one of our better players in the last match. :dunno:

Not confident at all with the strikers we're left with. Can't for the life of me think why Defoe has been pushed out.

Hes dropped all the players i was excited about.

>_<

Who? Agbonlahor hasn't scored for months and is completely overated, and Wheater who is nothing like England International material.

Defoe should be in there, but can't quite work out why he's dropped Wrighty. But Becks is back...what a legend!

Think we'll win this one, 2-0
