FleckneyFox Posted 28 March 2008 Posted 28 March 2008 Decent signing should slot in on the left wing. Is this with a view of a permanent move? it just seems like that type of player/transfer.
MPH Posted 28 March 2008 Posted 28 March 2008 it's all good and well signing these good players, but we've still got a clueless manager seemingly incapable of motivating a ball of wool. thats a bit harsh! i'd like to see YOU motivate a ball of wool! Just like Oakley.Just like Howard. Just like Hendrie. ... i'd say Oakley and Hendrie have done the biz for us.... they are carrying the rest, though...
Finchy Posted 28 March 2008 Posted 28 March 2008 DING DING, six games to go and LCFC saved by the 'bell' Owwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

Thracian Posted 28 March 2008 Posted 28 March 2008 And Thracian won't be to pleased about this. It's another symptom of our sickness. But I've nothing personally against David Bell or any other signing. If he improves our team I'll be delighted - for me, for Holloway, for the club, for the fans generally and even for Mandaric. I just find it so hard to be convinced by anything we do these days. I don't know that anyone coming in for (potentially) six games would be guaranteed to settle immediately and to show his best form. And who is to be the latest fall guy? He'll be pleased! There's an air or desperation. Hume has his ankle injury, we've no natural left winger and I wonder whether faith is already being lost in Etuhu so here we go again with yet another throw of the dice, yet another signing. No-one seems to get the chance to find any form. I'm much more concerned with why few players signed by City seem to operate at anything like the level expected or hoped for. There's always the chance David Bell will be an exception. He may prove successful, he might not. But either way it's been a pitiful season and our endless list of signings is no way to run a football club. How many exotic new signings have been provisionally welcomed by fans on here but no obvious reason other than they were new signings and anything new must be better. With the better known players they conveniently ignored the reasons they might have been let go. Well it certainly wouldn't be my approach. There was a time, way before the days of five substitutes, when 14 players lasted me two seasons!
Rt Hon Percy Longprong Posted 28 March 2008 Posted 28 March 2008 Didnt bell have a blinder against us a season ago...at kenny road.Im sure he did,and also played very well against liverpool in the cup the same year. Not a bad signing is he is still that good. unsure if im correct. DING DING, six games to go and LCFC saved by the 'bell' Unless we,ve dropped a "clanger" !!
Leonisco Posted 28 March 2008 Posted 28 March 2008 I remember when Bell was at Rushden a few years ago (when they were a decent League One team ) apparently he had a number of Premier League scouts watching him, including Liverpool if i remember correctly. So I suppose he must have something. *crosses fingers*

Oakley been alright in a general sense but disappointing compared to what I expected. Hendrie did well at West Brom and seems to have a positive way of thinking which I like. But we've only scored in two of the six games he's been involved so I'd hardly call it a massively influencial start.

You can't stick one good player in a squad low on morale, and, most importantly, any idea of how to pass, move, and retain possession and expect him to just start causing/scoring goals.
Lovejoy Posted 28 March 2008 Posted 28 March 2008 Quality signing. Seen him a few times for both Rushden and Luton and he's a good player who works hard and has a decent cross on him as well.
Thracian Posted 28 March 2008 Posted 28 March 2008 Quality signing. Seen him a few times for both Rushden and Luton and he's a good player who works hard and has a decent cross on him as well. Ah well, if he works hard ...

Maybe but when he's stuck in Oakley, Howard, Hayles, Clapham, Hendrie, Etuhu and not forgetting Laczko and Bori then surely one's expectations are entitled to rise yet we've scored fewer and sunk even lower!

teblin Posted 28 March 2008 Posted 28 March 2008 Ah well, if he works hard ... Its more than some of them were doing on satuday.
Uncle Albert Posted 28 March 2008 Posted 28 March 2008 Good signing from what i have seen of him and thats not alot. Only seen him against Liverpool and seemed a decent player.
Flexx Posted 28 March 2008 Posted 28 March 2008 Whenever i've seen him, he's slotted nicely in the 'Xabi Alonso' role. Always looked a steady player, a bit like Clapham, not much pace but always steady and doesn't do a lot wrong. Good signing.
Father Ted Posted 28 March 2008 Posted 28 March 2008 As long as he keeps Clemence far away from the 1st team I will be happy
Jack Posted 28 March 2008 Posted 28 March 2008 Whenever I have watched him play he's always looked pretty good.
Thracian Posted 28 March 2008 Posted 28 March 2008 Its more than some of them were doing on satuday. I wouldn't ever accuse Patrick Kisnorbo of not working hard, or Jamie Clapham, or Joe Mattock. But it takes far more than simple hard work to win football matches.
The People's Hero Posted 28 March 2008 Posted 28 March 2008 Ring my be-e-e-e-e-ll... RING MY BELL. That's all I'm thinking. That and Bell end.
