Head Honcho Posted 31 March 2008 Posted 31 March 2008 For me it has to be MGMT - ORACULAR SPECTACULAR. The first track is the catchiest and is there for commercial value but the rest of the album is superb.
joely22 Posted 2 April 2008 Posted 2 April 2008 To be honest, there's not been that many decent new albums come out so from the 3 months so far this year, the best album I've listened to is Transatlanticism by Death Cab For Cutie. No doubt their forthcoming album will be another belter.
Finchy Posted 2 April 2008 Posted 2 April 2008 The Best Of Joy Division Nah, nothing has really impressed me so far this year. Plenty to come tho....Coldplay, The Streets, The Verve?, Oasis, The Music, Glasvegas and Dan Le Sac Vs Scroobius Pip all have albums out this year i believe.
Trumpet Posted 2 April 2008 Posted 2 April 2008 I think i've only added 1 album to my collection this year, that being One night only's.. I like about 4-5 songs on it, the rest are half decent. Oracular Spectacular looks tasty, just not given it a proper listen yet!
Mark Posted 2 April 2008 Posted 2 April 2008 Top 3 so far ¡Forward, Russia! - Life Processes Frightened Rabbit - The Midnight Organ Fight Kyte - Kyte
joely22 Posted 3 April 2008 Posted 3 April 2008 Death Cab For Cutie - Narrow Stairs Downloaded last night. Is class. Not as good as Transatlanticism but still decent. Or maybe I didn't download it. From Wiki: On March 31, a fake version of the album was "leaked" on various torrent sites as an April Fool's prank with only "I Will Possess Your Heart" correct of all the Narrow Stairs songs named. The rest of the songs were by German indie band Velveteen, but due to the two bands having a very similar sound, some fans weren't sure at first if the files were in fact fake. :frusty:

Agreed, I've been listening to that on my ipod loads! Personal faves on the album are Electric Feel and Kids. For some reason they kinda remind me of the Avalanches
Bellend Sebastian Posted 3 April 2008 Posted 3 April 2008 Do You Like Rock Music? - British Sea Power It's very predictable, what with them being my favourite band and all that

Dr The Singh Posted 3 April 2008 Posted 3 April 2008 Fav SIngle: All The Ladies - TPH makes my fanny moist.
The People's Hero Posted 3 April 2008 Posted 3 April 2008 Fav SIngle:All The Ladies - TPH makes my fanny moist. Proof that spoken-word tuneless falsification, imagination and fantasy is still the British record buying public's main weakness (apart from my sweetness).

For some reason they kinda remind me of the Avalanches "The Youth" has just about got it for me. The change in tempo halfway through is just inspiring. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=0LnsB0XPYnM
MC Prussian Posted 4 April 2008 Posted 4 April 2008 The Black Keys - Attack & Release Personally, this is their first album I can listen to from start to finish without feeling like most song are resembling each other. Very diverse and uncommon electrical sounds from an otherwise pure and raw two-man Blues-Rock combo. Danger Mouse's producing quality has paid off big-time. I like it a lot. Their best album so far.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 4 April 2008 Posted 4 April 2008 Oracular Spectacular - MGMT so far and hoping that the rest of the year will be much better
Who ate all the pies? Posted 8 April 2008 Posted 8 April 2008 Neptune by The Duke Spirit Another whose voted for their favourite band but it hasn't left my Stereo since I bought it. A really cracking album.

A really cracking album. Just listened to this album and it's the sort of album I should be liking and sort of stuff I've liked in the past but I just ain't getting it yet Had to wait until the last track to get stirred-maybe it'll grow on me!
MC Prussian Posted 8 April 2008 Posted 8 April 2008 Can I switch my vote to ? It rocks. Totally. From start to finish and not one single bad or boring track on it. Amazing.
Ric Flair Posted 21 July 2008 Posted 21 July 2008 For me it has to be MGMT - ORACULAR SPECTACULAR.The first track is the catchiest and is there for commercial value but the rest of the album is superb. Still the best album of the year for me. Got a horrible feeling MGMT will never better this album though.
